1 account, multiple characters, we don't need multiple accounts right?

■ Windows only: To play three characters simultaneously
- A Square Enix account
- A copy of the Windows version
- Two registration codes obtained from the product or the "FINAL FANTASY XIV Service Center"
*You can register up to eight registration codes per Square Enix account.
*The "FINAL FANTASY XIV Service Center" website will be available after the game is launched. Please note that the website can only be accessed by those who purchased FINAL FANTASY XIV and registered a service account.

Unless you intend to be playing 3 characters at exactly the same time, this does not apply to you.

If you're sharing a square enix account with multiple people in your household, each of you will need a copy of FF XIV/registration code if you want to be logged in at the same time.

If you're the only person playing on your square enix account, then you only need 1 copy of FF XIV + registration code, which you already have having played 1.0.

How many characters you can create depends on your subscription level.

I too am curious on what this is about.

The windows only option seems to suggest you can have more than one instance of the client running simultaneously on the same PC. As long as you log in with different accounts, apparently you can play multiple characters at once.

The part I don't understand is how will the client distinguish between accounts if they are all linked to the same square enix account. Wouldn't you need separate square-enix accounts ?

The price of a game, Standard or CE lol. Maybe when the service website opens on launch, they'll sell just the codes for a smaller fee.

I was curious about this as well. If I want to 2-box, I can have 2 characters on the same account logged in at the same time, correct? I already have an SE account and 4 ffxiv accounts, does this mean a "new" feature will be available or it will be the same as the old way it worked?

We only need two registration codes to play up to three characters simultaneously? Not three?

SE made it more confusing when trying to explain it to me.

Yeah..I usually read everything thoroughly..but this just confused me.

Are they just basically saying you can run three instances of the game with 3 accounts, or are they saying you can run 3 instances of the game using the same account but different character?

Some clarification on this would be nice. I'd love to be able to play a second character on the same account at the same time :/

I'd like to know this, and I'd also like to know, can they all run on the SAME PC?? Or would I need more than one PC?

Can run on the same PC for sure, just not sure about the whole needing separate accounts, or if you can do multiple instances of one single account, but diff characters.

I'm still confused about how the service accounts / bonus items work. I'll use my character names / accounts for example if anyone can help clear this up for me.

- I have one (1) Square-Enix Account.
- I have two (2) Service accounts registered under my Square-Enix Account

I've created two (2) different characters for each of the Service accounts

- Final Fantasy XIV 1
Character: Nymourea Fairhelm

- Final Fantasy XIV 2
Character: Rhomagus Asclepiot

I've already purchased two (2) Collector's Editions and registered the pre-order in game items for them (Onion Helm). I also had an FFXI linked service account (Hermes Shoes). I also registered my code from Final Fantasy XIII (Asura's Gauntlets).

I've already purchased two (2) Standard Editions and registered the pre-order in game items (Garlond Goggles) to both accounts.

I'd like to order one (1) physical copy of the PS3 Collector's Edition and one (1) physical copy of the PC Collector's Edition.

Questions

1.) I created Rhomagus Asclepiot before I had the chance to register my Standard Edition copy for Final Fantasy XIV 1.0; so he currently doesn't have access to the Garlond Goggles. Upon recreating him in A Realm Reborn; will I now be able to get this item?

2.) The Hermes shoes are no longer able to be acquired but they're still in game correct? Will Rhomagus' Hermes Shoes be deleted upon logging into A Realm Reborn?

2a.) Will service accounts that were previously tied to an FFXI account be able to gain access to the Hermes Shoes upon character creation in A Realm Reborn if they are not deleted from the game?

3.) Since I'm ordering two (2) physical copies of the Collector's Edition (One for PC and one for PS3), will I be able to register the Mog Cap and Cait-Sith Doll Minion on both Final Fantasy XIV service accounts by using different codes from each platform?

4.) If I want to play as Nymourea on my PS3 and Rhomagus on my PC, will I never be able to play as Nymourea on my PC ever again because I tied her service account to my PS3 account?

4a.) If there is a lock out, does the lock out only apply to the service account or does it apply to the Square-Enix account? Would I have to create another Square-Enix account in order to keep Rhomagus from getting locked out of the PC version as they are both under the same Square-Enix account or would I be fine?

I'm really hoping it's different characters of the same account. I mean, if we purchased TWO registration codes, whether or not it's the same exact account or not is kinda arbitrary aside from convenience, and pre-existing alts. I'd like to be able to use my pre-existing alts alongside my pre-existing main, which are all on the same account. It'd be rather inconvenient to have to remake alts on a different account.

Will it be possible to register the PS3 version's pre-order bonuses on the Windows version? Yes, this will be possible. By inputting the product code enclosed with the PS3 version into your PS3, you will be able to choose to add the PS3 version to either an existing FFXIV service account or a new FFXIV service account. If you choose to add it to an FFXIV existing service account, the pre-order bonuses will be applied to that FFXIV service account.

The way I read was that you can register multiple platforms under one SE account and one service account, but you can't log in into the same service account at the same time. You need a second service account to be able to do that, which would imply that yes you would need to pay either another sub fee or whatever SE will charge for a second service account.

Yeah, this is what I'm hoping for too..I have an alt on my acct I want to change and play alongside my [sexy] hyur. Hopefully we get an answer or some clarification on this.

This is what I'm not sure of, and the wording is confusing. The two sub fee applies to two separate accounts, not two characters on the same account.
