FINALLY /excited

Looks like a lot of options are going to be available. I'll probably keep my original character pretty close to what it is now, but I'm sure I'm going to play around with alts just messing with the various settings.

Hopefully the scroll bar shown with the male hair styles means there's a lot to choose from for each race/gender. Definitely liking the new color palette, and sliders are always a plus.

I like it!

But where are the beards???

Love the palettes and sliders. I just hope I can get the white tip on my tail back without having to have garish white highlights in my hair.

I can finally get that shade of blonde I want.

As someone who absolutely does not want to redo my character and wants to keep her exactly the same, and who is also colourblind, this is a goddamned nightmare. Please Llymlaen, please let SE load Llen from her file in my original FFXIV client. I kept everything intact just for that reason!


I'm glad the rest of you are happy though :D. Basically my entire shell is pretty stoked for this too.

Actually, I want to be like this
it will be a pain if we need to make everything from scratch, because then it will never the same character again

I hope SE load our character set by default, then give us the opportunity to do anything

If I'm honest I'm not too keen on bright unnatural dyed hair colors being possible either because it doesn't really seem to fit the world's lore. However, I know a lot of people do want this but even more so it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make for the sake of having more customization in general because we have more natural options now as well. The moment that someone at SE has to decide what colors are permissible and what aren't in lieu of providing a full color palette, that's when we end up with the somewhat limited choices of 1.x. The best I can do is just make my own character look natural.

I'll spare everyone a diatribe on my opinion of the cutesy tattoos.... I'll just say I really don't like them but I know that seems to be a minority opinion....

But I am 500 million percent thrilled for all the new and longer hairstyles (for both genders), the sliders, and the overall increase in player diversity that shall follow it.

I'm with you on that. I'm not a fan of tattoos period. I personally think they ruin a person's natural beauty.

I'm fine with all the customization in the world, as long as it stays within the confines of the believability of the world you create. Make the tone mesh well enough with the aesthetics you already have, or you're going to get a disjointed art style.

But thankfully we are a far step from that extreme. I just hope the hair color remains at least in a semi believable tone.

I agree, being able to place tattoos on maybe neck, arms or hands would be awesome. This is maybe taking it to far but have a "temporary" tattoo to show your allegiance to a linkshell. >.>

I'm cool with the tribal and similar tats. I wouldn't use them on my own character and I don't care for tats much IRL either, but they can fit the game lore as a sort of war paint type idea. But the chickabo and stars... I don't want to run around the game surrounded by middle-school level fashion...

Wow, is that image disturbing. Yes, indeed, thank the Twelve we are nowhere near that. I'll disagree to a point about makeup though. The best makeup you won't even notice it's there without a side-by-side comparison. Loud, overt makeup not so much: it takes very special skill and circumstances to pull that off.

Then why bother? Our characters don't age, they have no blemishes. There's not much that can/needs to be brought out in our complexion, we're kinda designed to have perfect skin from the start. Maybe a little lipstick, I know a lot of people are into bold lips, but the distant levels we get for most of this is just unnecessary.

I do hope they have a salon of sorts so people can change mistakes and not lose their characters.

I wouldn't worry, I remember yoshi-p saying that we'll get a barber shop so we can change hair, hair color, face paint/make-up, eye color (think thats it but meh, who knows! lol)

So as far as hairstyle goes guess I'm not gonna stress about that since I'll be able to change it down the road.
And yea as for the facepaints, not a fan myself just cause the new ones look like carnival paint on their face lol, but others seem to like it.

Hair colors being a bit out there doesn't bother me unless its an eye sore lol. But people dye their hair crazy colors all the time so guess people in Eorzea want to cut loose and have green hair sometimes lol ^_^ (think I'll stick with my natural look as well ^_^b)

For what it's worth... Miqo'te had always had pink hair since 1.0. Also well as blue.
Hyur had some weird hair colors as well.

I doubt we're getting anything too extreme?

I always thought the 'saturated' hair colour was a JRPG thing...
I'll most likely tone down the chroma on my pompadour... highlander... thing... whatever the hell it's called.

Actually, they do - it is more that the game itself is in a sort of time bubble of perpetual 1572, 6th Astral Era. This facilitates story-telling. It may not be realistic, but it's for the greater good.

... SE has made protagonist characters with unnatural hair colors too, even in settings similar to FFXIV (In the setting of FFV/FFVI, yes. In FFXII's case, no). It's not a bad thing per say, I'm just mentioning it's more common in the genre of things.

It's a bunny does it really matter? why people are fighting over natural hair or not? How many time do i see people with random,green,red,and werid hair color? about every time i go to the movies or i'm by a high school.

Never said it was a bad thing, he merely suggested that 12 was an exception for unnatural hair colors, I posed an example of the theme still being present.
