Dude... lol.
Seriously though, just joshin with you. He is a bard.
Thancred is a Thief, and the Elezen is a Magus.
If Thancred is a dancer, that'll probably just drive all the fan-girls (and boys) even more crazy.....
He does use daggers but Momodi the sands proprietor refers to him as a bard, as does Minfillia i believe.
Thancred isn't dancer. What a ridiculous thing to say.
He's a stripper.
Tch, didn't you know? In FFXIV, changing class is as easy as changing your weapon!
He's a Bard, back before Yoshida took over and decided to change Bard from an upcoming Class to Archer's Job.
Don't forget that in the original opening movie right at the end Derplander's miqo'te friend mentions "Lets' give the bards something to sing of!" showing that even then the BRD job was definitely in the game's lore, but in both cases I just believe they're referring to an actual profession and not a at the time hypothetical combat class.
Another irony is that miqo'te in question actually became a BRD in the 'End of an Era' trailer too. ;)
He is a Bard but he chooses to use throwing knives over a lame ass bow and arrow because he is motha f**king Thancred!!!
Seriously though he look a lot less badass with an oversized bow, would put a damper on his quick moves and twist slow-mo attacks having to reach for an arrow or 5 and nock/shoot them while trying to dart around and twist flip over people's heads.
He is a bard by profession, but his class is a Gladiator.
IIRC He's a Bard, he did some poetry or song in the main scenario if you started in Ul'dah.. I think.. it has been years since I did those
It was all an elaborate deception, Thancred is really a Juggler who entertains the ladies with his singing voice and throwing knive talents. =P Just imagine him wearing the harlequin set.
/ Not enough bards sang of her, so she had to do so herself :p.
I think SE wanted the Disciplines of War and Magic to shine as the only playable jobs in this new world, and all of the conventional "jobs" we know would make cameo appearances in the lore as NPC-only titles. A Conjurer with an affinity for healing would be called a "White Mage", for example. I got the sense that "Dragoon" in vanilla 1.0 was more of an NPC-only title based on the word's historical origin - basically a mounted lancer like many Ishgardian knights in the Conjurer 30 scenes.
Not too hard to imagine Bard would be a title unique to Thancred if this were the case. The idea would be to give us distance and perspective on the traditional jobs, and draw us closer to characters in our favorite FF roles. Unfortunately there wasn't nearly enough story content in vanilla 1.0 for me to confirm this was their plan, but it still might've been neat in a story.
Hey! Why could he just not change jobs? Are you insinuating the Circle of Knowing can't be bothered to level up other things? They'd lose out on powerful cross-class abilities if that were the case!
Hes a bard in the same sense that Justin Bieber is a singer.
Yep...
If you check the .dats they actually mention Thancred's job which roughly translates to "swagger". I hope this helped.
Dat swagger... /faints
Seriously though, he's classified as bard in the lore, but he carries a sword in the instances (goobue fight, speaking to him in various quests etc). He uses the daggers in the main cutscene tho >_> Dat crazy bard, using his lil knives against Gaius van Baelsar
he even refers to himself as a bard.
I think Bard is more for the speaking, not the job.
In fact he is a heartbreaker <3 <3
Instead is class is more Gladiator, like Yda is a pugilist and Papalymo is a Thm...
But so a new question... and Y'shtola?? She is an Arcanist?
Or Louisoix... scholar?
Btw these are hard questions just because game is changed a lot... and maybe what could be an arcanist will be another class in 2.0 :(
That's because he's Thancred. Thancred does what he wants. ^_^
(sigh)... Thancred... http://i386.photobucket.com/albums/o...zy/bth_gif.gif
Given Louisoix's use of symbol-based magic, I'm inclined to believe he was an arcanist as well, with Urianger being the specialised summoner of the bunch.
Eh, I just think all the NPCs sort of break the norm a bit when it comes to classes/jobs and how we play them ingame. There has to be that sort of thing going on for the storylines to be believable to some extent. Obviously, conjurers can't duplicate themselves, nor can thaumaturges absorb magic bullets into their staves. This happened too in XI with some of the major NPCs like Mayakov, Lilisette, Romaa Mihgo, Ayame etc.
Thancred breaks the norm moreso than others though because of his use of daggers/sword, depending where you're watching him lol. He does wear Archer type gear (a variant of the Rainmaker's Tunic graphic, sarouel without the ruffles at the knee, and calligae)
Now I'm wondering if SE will throw us a bone and maaaaybe have all of the Archons wear job AF at some point (Thancred in Bard AF droooooooooooooooooooool @.@)
Please no XD
In this way they kill their personality!
How can we see Yda with Monk AF??? O____O
Or Y'shtola with WHM AF? XD She is already a badass-girl... if she wear white mage af.... they kill her bad-assness :p
or Papalymo BLM XD
OMFG!
I prefer they with their own AF :p
Technically Thancred would be the only one using AF, since he's a "job" and not a "class" e____e; kinda why I said it.
Though Papalymo in BLM af wouldn't be too far off from what he already wears..pretty much just add a pointy hat on him and be done with it. Yda would look a bit silly, and Y'shtola..eh..she's a cat, she'll look cute in anything lol
