Even though I am a miqo'te and don't plan on changing in 2.0, I was fascinated by the Roe naming conventions so thought I would try to convert my name (Rogue Muse) to Roegadyn. So I came up with Eyrilona Lagoskoefwyn, which translates to "Wandering Gatherer - Daughter of Lamenting Poet"

Well, I made up both Llen and Coram. Llen based on how pretty it looks when written and the sound, and Coram is a name I've been using in games for years. A google of Llen gives nothing, but turns out Coram is a real last name.

Let's see... If Coram is based off of Corn+Hamm, as in Corn field, and Llen's mostly a fisher... Sfeiklona Saemfaeldwyn would fit nicely.

Wow that rolls off the tongue. I might make a female Seawolf and name her that!

If I make a female Roeg, her name will be Swozgeim Bleisaelbwyn

For my 1.0 character name, Heretic Kenmei, I came up with Elildyn Wyssthubasyn (exiled person, son of the wise mage). Kenmei is a japanese word for wisdom, so i thought it fit fairly well with mage. That, and I <3 mage classes. :D

I'm also planning to change my name in 2.0 to Kenmei Aquila, where Aquila is the constellation of an eagle. So my 2.0 roegadyn name would be Wyssthuba Styriahrsyn (wise mage, son of the stellar eagle).

"Naria" doesn't really translate from what I can tell but "Nari" is a shortened form of "Nariko" in Japanese (gentle child) so what I came up with for "Naria Starcatcher" was Haldlona Styrketenwyn (Kind-gatherer Star-chain daughter). Which kinda sounds contradictory . . .:o

I'm honestly not sure. I tend to translate my name to mean: Yesterday's Nests.

Nest is covered by Nyst.

My surname might be something involving healing, as I am wont to heal others anywhere and everywhere, whether they ask for it or not (I like to keep people alive). Let's see...

Music, voice, performance. . . . There's actually words in Roeg dictionary for song (syng), singing (syngi), dance (satz), voice (stymm). . . .

Webbstymm : Webb = silk, Stymm = voice : pretty self explanatory and don't think that a "singing man" or something along those lines would fit me.

Anyways~

If I were to translate Myranda's name I put together Baramoen Syvinstyrwyn for Barren Moon, daughter of Seventh Star because my name is based on a moon of Uranus and one of the stars of the Pleiades ("seven sisters").

I probably won't use that if I make a Roeg alt and instead opt for something original, but there it is.

I would call my Roe like this:
Trachyn (dragon) + fyst (fist)
Gothi (divine) + haemr (hammer) + syn (son)
In other words: Dragonfist, Son of Divine Hammer

Okay so I saw others try to convert their legal name into a Roegadyn name. I'm going to try that now, too.

Including my middle name, my name means: Crown, Dove, Reed Bed -- Crowned Dove of the Reed Bed, if we want to be poetic here.

Excluding my middle name, it means: Crown, Reed Bed.

Let's work with just my forename and my surname. Now, neither crown nor reed could be found in this dictionary, so I went with: Swynraen Grynemurl, or, "Round Circle, Green Wall", "Round Circle of the Green Wall?"

How does that look? I know I'm supposed to have SYN at the end of Grynemurl, but am I really the son of Green Wall? *laughs* Poor guy.

My roegadyn name is intended to match the personality of my character: Eyriwaen Zirhmusyn

He's a conjurer much more at peace in the woods than in a city, and born under the sign of Oschon, so Eyreiwaen, "Wandering Wind" fits him in many ways. As for Zirhmusyn... I felt like doing something silly for his father's name, so Furious Mouse it is.

It's also become synonymous with snake handling. Serpents, snakes, and lizards were synonymous with the word dragon in Ancient times so sometimes the name Asclepius will be translated into English as "Dragon Arm". Super stretch but it's as close as I could get.

Hence, Fast Mage Dragon Arm's son.

I don't think I can come up with one in Sea Wolf for my current name. I'm considering making a Hellsguard though since their names are a lot easier to come up with, and if someone only wants to refer to you by first name it doesn't sound like you have a mouth full of cotton when someone tries to say it.

Obsy: Derived from obsidian; I've used the re-spelling as an online alias for years.
J'hyan: Entirely made up prior to the newly-released naming conventions, but I decided it related to the number 3 in some way.

Kinsey = Old English for Royal, victorious one or loyal nurse.

So by that logic my Roe name would be something like:

meaning: Protective Queen, Daughter of Victory.

I planning on making my 2.0 Sea Wolf Roegadyn with the name: Tufyr Sahaginjaegasyn => "Dew Fire, Sahagin Hunter's son". First name's a little iffy, but I really want the last. Since the last name is so long there isn't a lot of choices for a first name while following naming convention :D.

“Roeshi-P” got me thinking …..

So Yoshi-p becomes Wargibyrm Saldifaeldsyn - Truthful Tree, son of Lucky Field

My character's given name, Quintalian, has no particular meaning, so in converting it I simply chose similar sounding Roegadyn words. It worked out well, as 'cwin' (wine) and 'tyl' (valley) go together nicely, I think.

As for the surname, Searex, it means what it sounds like, so 'merl' (sea) and 'koen' (king) work perfectly as a direct translation.

Rhotsaelb Krystsyrn (Red-Sage, Son of the Crystal) that's what I'm going with now..but I'm always looking at it.
