Why do you visit the forums?

Just a curiosity due to the threads being posted and what is available to read at this point I wonder why anyone is visiting the forums lately. So really being redundant here but, why do you visit the forums?

To provide an opposing view compared to the delusional XI loyalists and masochist grinders who seem to want to drag ARR back into the stone age.

for the chaos. the pure unmitigated chaos. and the Reinheart translation thread! oh and rukkiri.. and the meme thread! also, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.

level of <3 and passion to ARR are at similar level here now. I GUESS at Beta forum, lots "abandoners"(returners), "New comers" (attracted by shinny video only) and "Spy" (interns sent by other game companies) trolling the forum. I GUESS there are more than 2000+ threads made already...

I really miss the game and my friends in it. I just like feeling close to them.

Also I worry that if I don't, the fan boys of this game, will not give honest feedback of the game, to the devs.
IF that happens, they will release another steaming pile of crap and it will flop..

So I am here to try to be truthful and not let people scream how great everything is, if it is not great. But to also scream how great it is. If it actually ends up great..

Not just bash everyone who says anything negative.

Well, Leveling up in a party (Grinding) sometimes isnt bad at all.
Quest only will get me hell bored forever (i'll suicide probably if i gotta quest my way to 50 in 7 different classes/jobs).

there always a high level of them types in betas. alot of them are from other companys tring to gain a edge for there own product. they social engineer.

ALRIGHT I ADMIT IT, I have no life. That and if I don't hit refresh every 3 minutes....I get the shivers! It ssssspeakssss to mee.... precious...

Occasionally a pretty interesting idea comes up, which, regardless of whether or not it has a practical place in ARR or not, I enjoy reading over and offering small fixes or slightly reoriented viewpoints thereto.

The general threads can offer a few grin-flickers (about as physically expressive as I get) as well.

To seek hope in humanity and when that fails laugh my butt off with some of the post

The meme thread. And also some degree of masochism on my part. You'd think I'd have cast Death on myself by now after seeing some of the outrageous posts on here, but in defending the game I find myself growing closer to it.

Really only drop by to check on news for the game, be it through translations or dev posts.

Because ironically at the moment this forum seems to be a relative island of sense and stability in a rapidly rising ocean of stupid.

I have a cold, no job, i'm lonely, insomnia. I have been compulsively checking the FFXIV ARR forum, play a few hours of FFXI in a day and even worse i'm hooked on playing Final Fantasy Airborne Brigade for andriod phone. My life situation is not glamorous.

I read to keep in touch with what’s going on in the game development, scheduling, progress, etc. As well as hope against hope (when the game is active) that there will be some usefully information on how to play, tactical advice, tips like someone who found a better way to do “X”.

But why I really think I read them is to torture myself, from some deep seeded need for self inflicted pain. I guess at heart I’m just a confused teen aged girl who likes to cut herself (in reality just a graying old guy).

Posts can be funny or fun, if not informative but the junk around here (90% of all posts) constantly piles up. Then again its fun at work sometimes to nudge a coworkers and show them yet another post of “SE screwed up, and here is how they can do better”; like that company hangs on every word coming from someone who should of moved out of mom’s basement years ago. Or the ever popular “I want this in the game”, or maybe just those posters in the thousands who like to reply just to reply.

Oh well, my self hatred is fulfilled by reading this stuff so I guess in the long run it serves a purpose.

I come here to make a dull day in the office to go by a bit faster.
Also I think I am addicted to the forums, I think I should seek some help :o

I think at this point the only thing I can contribute is sarcastic remarks to all of the dumb threads.

Plain, simple, and easy to remember answer: Because I can.

The number one reason why anyone comes to any forum is to complain.

It's a simple truth.

To check the meme and picture threads.

so I can create threads in the appropriate places like this one just to have it ignored for General Discussion.

I visit the meme thread mostly myself but i visit to see what is going on, what threads are being made, and what mischief i can get into ^.^
