With beta a week or so away and a lot of the communities attention being diverted to the beta and/or the beta forums and these forums soon to be flooded with "Waaah legacy is unfair" and "This class is OP"/"This class is too weak," etc. I figured a questionnaire was in order to wrap up the past and the present as well as predict the future. Thought it would be cool to dig up in the years to come, like a Time Capsule like thing. Some questions are meant to touch on sensitive subjects and make you think, you can skip them if you choose but that just wouldn't be any fun now would it.

What will you miss most about 1.0?
-- Vast empty areas... I am a strong believer that some areas might be calmer and safe to rest and relax.

What did you disliked most about 1.0?
-- The lack of big multi-party events (alliance to kill HNMs, Dynamis-like fights, etc...)

Best moment you had on 1.0?
-- They are all Ifrit related. Naked fight, naked kiting for 3-mins as THM, saving a run as THM, naked running around during the fight. Naked stuff are always the best moments.

Someone you met in 1.0 that you will miss due to them going to a different server?
-- I gotta say Beewolf Teram if I change server. He let me stay in his home for a week-end while I was on a trip in his country. A real kind gentleman.

-- New Environnements... (East Shroud will be different than North Shroud, etc..)

-- Tough to say without actually seeing the jobs in action. I guess I'll be BLM but the battle system will be different and other jobs might be more useful.

Primal battle you think you will enjoy the most?
-- Leviathan... if it's in the plans... why?... Because I like Leviathan and Water spells are new in ARR.

Primal battle you think you will dislike the most?
-- Garuda... I don't like the "hide-or-die" kind of fights. I'm playing a role-playing game, not an action one.

Feature you hope will be implemented to 2.0 eventually?
-- Announced big multi-party events (FATE are random) like Dynamis, Campaigns and Besieged in FFXI.

Job you hope gets implemented to 2.0 eventually?
-- Tough to say with the new battle system. From what I've seen, I'd say Thief.

-- A lot actually. Let's go with the big multi-party events again.

-- NMs and HNMs re-pop timers (the 21-24hrs and the not-kill-the-Place-Holder pops)

XIV 1.0:

What will you miss most about 1.0?

First, all the people I played with that I may not see in 2.0

What did you disliked most about 1.0?

Hamlets maybe.

Best moment you had on 1.0?

I'm going to say early Darkhold. Looking back it wasn't the toughest encounter, but it was the start of seeing what the new time was capable of. Plus we had Battle Regimens then, and I had a lot of hope that a "real endgame" was just around the corner.

That said I would never ever do Darkhold "just for fun" again after 1.18

I don't know yet, because I do not know what server anyone is going to definitely. I'll have to see once the new servers are released, but I am sure there will be plenty of people I'll miss playing with.

A lot of these aren't really applicable to me (due to me being too lazy/not in a ls/not interested in that aspect of the game etc), but I'll answer what I can! :D

XIV 1.0:

What will you miss most about 1.0? Hard to say - I admit the old interface appearance (but not functionality) has kind of grown on me, so I'm going to miss the 'ye old' style icon artwork/text/menu box style.

What did you disliked most about 1.0? Laaaaaag. Seriously, everything was so laggy - it was worse than FFXI's Whitegate or Port Jeuno on a bad day, and that was even when there was only a few dozen people in a zone. I didn't really like the original action-orientated battle system with 1.0's original release either, but as that was changed so long ago it's not really appropriate.

Best moment you had on 1.0? Soloing GLA from 13-50 in a matter of weeks after the servers were reactivated, and managing to unlock PLD and finish off the main scenario (up to the 7th Umbral Era story), all on my own. Yes, I know none of that will be transferring across as I missed the final save deadline, but still, I'm really proud I managed to accomplish that anyway even if it won't save. :D

Someone you met in 1.0 that you will miss due to them going to a different server? Hmmm, not sure. The only people I really talked to in 1.0 were friends from FFXI who joined at the same time, and who, in all but but one case, switched servers. I did meet a couple of new people in the 2.0 Alpha who hopefully I'll be able to catch up with in 2.0 release, but I guess that doesn't count. :p

XIV 1.0 ----> XIV 2.0 Break:

Best movie you saw during your break from XIV? None. I'm not really a film buff anymore.

Best show you watched during your break from XIV? NCIS. It's about the only TV show I watch anymore regularly, and the latest season just seems to be getting better and better. :)

Best song you heard for the first time during your break from XIV? That's hard to say - my musical taste is varied, but I don't really follow new music as it just annoys me. I'm just going to go ahead and say Answers as constantly playing the 'End of an Era' trailer hasn't helped! :p

Best game you played during your break from XIV? FFXI I guess. I would have said FFXIII-2 but XI is vastly superior. :p

Best place you went during your break from XIV? Nowhere really. Although I did go to my brother's place on Christmas Day and I spent a lot of that time playing his import PC Engine (he's the one that made me into such a gaming geek :p).

Best thing that happened to you during your break from XIV? Nothing that I can think of really. Life's been pretty mundane for me lately.

Game you played the most during your break from XIV? Dissida Duodecium for PSP - Shantotto>everyone else. That is all. ;)

Feature you think you will enjoy the most? Seeing 1.0 Enki in the new Eorzea and just going and exploring the changed landscape. And trying out my Legacy chocobo! :D

Primal battle you think you will enjoy the most? Shiva! :D Although I'm intrigued about how changed Ifrit is going to be and if the amal'jaa are still sucking up to him. ;)

Job you hope gets implemented to 2.0 eventually? Red Mage I guess. But I don't really see how that could be introduced without major shakeups to the Armoury System (weapon and abilities are already used by another class/Job).

Feature from FFXI(11) you hope will be implemented in 2.0 eventually? I would have said Mog Houses but they're coming to 2.0 anyway so that doesn't count. Hmmm, maybe AF2 sets which actually have a connection to the lore of the game? Ala, gained through a quest sequence like AF1 is.

Feature from FFXI(11) you hope will never be implemented in 2.0? Magian Trials! Oh Azeyma above! I hope that NEVER comes to FFXIV. In fact, anything that copies Abyssea also I hope is never considered for FFXIV either.

Almost all of it! And mostly "On Windy Meadows"! :D

Most of all: the terrible drop lucks. There's also connectivity issues like delay and congestions. Oh... fishing and that dreaded GC's chocobo theme. lol

Don't remember the name, but there's someone I met during my earlier adventure that helps me alot and later moving to Ragnarok.

Time waiting. There are many instances in XI where after players leaves, needs huge amount of time before allowed to do/enter again, which sometimes can even go up to a week.

The combat system, the shroud's theme when close to Grid, Coerthas (I do hope they kept it huge and didn't change it up much), Darnus.

When I finally got a group capable of killing Garuda (even though I got tricked out of all my totems >.>)

What will you miss most about 1.0? Honestly I'm not sure... I'll miss some of the people I met on Ragnarok, there was a really great group there but I'm looking for a place that's a little bit busier during my playtimes so that me and my husband can settle in nicely with some old friends :)

What did you disliked most about 1.0? Probably the lag! haha, that was killer some days but after I upgraded my system a bit it wasn't so noticeable. I felt like the game was a bit empty toward the end, I'd spend all my time crafting or just helping people to catch up and get their GC quests done before the end of 1.0 rolled around. I didn't feel captivated with the open zones, Thanalan was a dusty mess, La Noscea was just this mass of light green with the occasional puk and I felt that these zones could have been shown in a much better light, they just seemed so barren. I loved the shroud though... maybe I'm one of the few that did!

Best moment you had on 1.0? Too many to list! When I'd gotten my Pan of the Luminary I felt a great sense of accomplishment though even though it really was a grind and a half to obtain it. I think my first Ifrit kill was another defining moment, that was very exciting for me!

Someone you met in 1.0 that you will miss due to them going to a different server? There are a few! I miss Jerivah Sjoholt, Kaedi Latro and Dishy Bear... Snackpack too! There are so many people that I do miss and I can't possibly list them all... but if you're reading this please know that you are in my thoughts and I do wish you the very best!

This I am not sure about :( There were many things I disliked in 1.0, like Dynamis but not because of the actual content, more how people abused things like the loot-list to ninja items from players. This happened to me a few times and it's one of the reasons I dislike content that forces me to play with a bunch of people I hardly know. When they made Empyrean armor (I think it was the boots?) drop from mobs in Abyssea, I was so upset that I quit. I didn't want to be forced into a position where people would succumb to their greed yet again.

What will you miss most about 1.0?
Everything. I was a rare fan that was very pleased with the game, especially after the fixes from the yoshida team once they took over. I will miss the friends I made on there more than anything else, and I hope most will be back for ARR. I really really loved BLM and its role role in 1.0 as a burst dmg dealer. It was a job I could play risky with and have fun. Was never boring.

What did you disliked most about 1.0?
Pathetic drop rates for endgame gear, the fact that two guilds existed ingame, yet no classes/jobs were available for them....the fact that they changed the bridge to Ishgard.

Best moment you had on 1.0?
Joining my first ever endgame linkshell. It transformed how I now see the game, and my goals. Not only that, I met some really awesome people, and learned that not everyone at the "top" is a stuck up prick.

XIV 1.0:

What will you miss most about 1.0?

Well, it was a bit of a toss-up between Nael Van Darnus and Dalamund, but I think Van Darnus' unique character as a Final Fantasy bad guy gives him a tiny edge. Final Fantasy has a habit of creating villains I can not only empathize with and/or feel sorry for but I also think are extremely cool. Or, in my case, drop dead gorgeous. (cough, Sephiroth, Vayne, cough) Either way, I usually feel a huge amount of regret whenever I finish off a Final Fantasy villain, because by the end of the game I had grown to like them for one reason or another. Not so with Van Darnus. He was so deliciously easy to hate. He was unattractive (well that's putting it mildly, he was butt ugly), he had no cause I could empathize with, and no reason to feel sympathy for him whatsoever. Not since Kefka have I ever met a Final Fantasy villain I couldn't wait to tear to pieces so much.

What did you disliked most about 1.0?

Wow, this is a bit of a toss-up as well. I can't tell whether it was the severe lack of content at the very beginning times of FFXIV or the stupidity of level over 9000 monsters roaming the paths you needed to traverse in order to finish a quest.

Back in the beginning, the only content we really had was the main storyline. That's it. And many times we couldn't access that unless we had reached a certain level. And the quickest way to level was do levequests (You'd usually level up about 2 to 3 times). But back then, you could only do eight of them at a time! Which meant that if you still wanted to level up, you'd have to do it by grinding mobs, which would take about 500 years a level and get you bored of the game really fast. So, to sum it up, no levequests = no more leveling up = no storyline content = no content at all. Great. Just effin' great.

And then you had the super powered monsters roaming the paths that you had to travel in order to get stuff done. A bit later down the line, when the game was thankfully improved on many of it's worst qualities, you could get a levequest or a mission from an NPC or some other way to go to a certain place and gather something or kill something or whatever. And on the way there, you could run into groups of mobs that were level 60, 80, 90, some pretty powerful beasties. Just one problem: OUR LEVEL CAP WAS 50!!!! :mad: I mean, seriously, what the hell? Why would they put level 3000 raptors on the path of my level 32 quest? I couldn't tell whether the devs were being really stupid or just trolling. Maybe both. Either way, after dying to a powerful monster I couldn't avoid about 12 times, I just wanted to commit murder IRL.

Best moment you had on 1.0?

Probably the moment I made Van Darnus take a permanent dirt nap. He thought he was so badass. "Oh, look at me! I'm Nael Van Darnus! I'm crazy and I get my power from the moon! Watch me burn myself to make it crash to the planet! You can't stop me! Wheee!" I made him eat those words and the dust under his feet. Goodbye, Nael Van Douchebag. I'm happy to see you go, and you will not be missed.

XIV 1.0 ----> XIV 2.0 Break:

Best movie you saw during your break from XIV?

Spirited Away. For the 12 bazillionth time. If I were to choose a runner up, I'd say The Avengers. Again, for the 12 bazillionth time.

It's a tie between The Walking Dead, Intervention, and Duck Dynasty (one of my guilty pleasures). Yeah, I watch a lot of A&E, can you tell?

Best song you heard for the first time during your break from XIV?

Would the entire soundtrack from Ni No Kuni count? If not, well then, I dunno. lol I don't buy a lot of traditional music these days.

Hmmm... Ni No Kuni or Skyrim? Uh, this is a toughie. Can I skip this one please?

Best place you went during your break from XIV?

Went out of town to visit my nephew. Had a lot of fun. In fact, he'll be here visiting me during Spring Break! :)

How well the controller works for the PC version. I played 1.0 with the controller, and it was just awesome. I'd like to know how well it works for ARR.

Arcanist. I'd say Summoner, but apparently we won't be able to try that one for a while. (grumble, grumble)

Biggest thing you want to figure out during beta to carry with you into release and help you?

How well I can maneuver with the controller compared to the keyboard and mouse, so I'll know how I want to play PvP arena. Ah, who am I kidding? I'll probably just play with the controller either way.

What will you miss most about 1.0? I loved 1.0 (I started late when it had vastly improved.) The thing I would miss is friends that I could lose touch with at ARR launch.

What did you disliked most about 1.0? The extreme delay/lag whatever you want to call it with the UI/inventory/market wards/Trading/talking to NPC’s, etc.

Best moment you had on 1.0? Beating Nael Van Darnus with my casual social linkshell after attempting literally dozens of times; then touring the Gods all over the world for the Dalamud horn quest with my other half :)
