Last year I was robbed of my chance to become a Legacy member when the program was ended prematurely. I had previously contacted the support team and was assured that as of July 31 2012 I had plenty of time to renew my subscription and be eligible for the legacy program. On September 11 2012 it was announced that services would be suspended as of September 29 2012. I would have become a legacy member in early October 2012. Under U.S. law this situation would qualify as bait and switch which is illegal. I have attempted to contact support several times regarding the matter. I do not want this to become a legal matter as I love Square Enix and all it has done for the gaming industry. I just want the legacy status I was robbed of. Is there any way this could be made possible?

Anyway, the only possible way you would have qualified in July is if you had picked the 90 day subscription option before that was made unavailable. -

So I don't think the support team was wrong. You had 6 or 7 weeks in which to purchase your 90 days and qualify for legacy. (Yes even though there weren't 90 days of 1.0 service left)
I could be wrong but to be honest I had legacy status before I even knew what it was, so I never really bothered to read the terms and conditions needed to qualify in depth. -

I did say a few days back that soon the beta release date is said every non legacy would be making a topic. On how SE screw them over or how they should be in beta for being in alpha.

@pyrious Did you check your SE account to see if you have a Legacy account? But really i don't think you have bait and switch as you said i think you just out of luck. There really noting you can do about it if you did not get legacy it's pretty much done sorry :(
Also Beta testing start Feb 25 look at the homepage it tell you :) they starting to send email this week.
You quit on 10/21/2011 and start playing again from 8/21/2012 to 9/14/2012 looking at your char history. You could have just payed and not really done anything with your char. But from the look of it it seem you would have never got legacy. -

The legacy programme was well advertised, SE sent out emails about the campaign, it was all over lodestone, people were talking about it all over the forums. Even the gaming sites were reporting about the campaign. You had plenty of opportunity to sign up but left it till near enough the end of August to do so. You missed out, you werent robbed. The message you got from SE states clearly you had to have 90 days subscription from Jan 6th onwards. Everyone knew the billing period was coming to an end, that was well signposted too. Yes it sucks that you missed getting legacy status, but really...what are you gonna be loosing out on? A chocobo skin, a slight reduction in subs, and a few extra char slots you probably wouldnt use. Its not that big a deal really. Youll probably still get into beta at some point if you applied too.

I do feel sorry for people who did not get legacy or wont play beta one but like you said it was said over and over and over. They even send email saying you only have few more week before you can get it. -

Maybe it is just me, but I don't get the Legacy VS Non-Legacy issue... It's simple to me;
Legacy - Supported/Play 1.0 for X period of time. For sticking with the game through hard times, SE gave discount/perks.
Non-Legacy - Didn't play, pay/paid a bit but not enough to meet X period of time.

I, honestly, never thought that Legacy would be such a big deal! But the players that really wanted it, jumped on it right away. =p As soon as it was announced, I set myself up to, of course, become legacy. I feel bad for those that didn't get it, but I also feel that if it really mattered to them that much, why didn't they jump on that right away too? SE were pretty upfront with the benefits and the 'how to' from the beginning. It kind of feels to me that mostly the players that received Legacy status were those that were playing the game fairly regularly since release, or at least for the last year it was up.
I feel the biggest benefit of the Legacy Status, though, is the subscription costs. =P -

All details were all over the lodestone, all over gaming sites, all over the forums, all over the internet. There was no bait and switch. The forum moderators and Yoshi even posted again and again the terms and conditions so it was clear as crystal to anyone who didnt quite understand. If you could not understand the 1000 sources, that gave hard dates and the terms that were clearly repeated over and over and over again then its your own fault you did not get legacy.
It couldnt have been made more clear 100 times over.
My guess is that it slipped your mind and you didnt register in time, or you read about it too late and now you are threatening a lawsuit just to get grandfathered in. -

And this is just what was on the Lodestone. This doesn't take into account the emails which would have been sent to you personally, the posts by community members and devs on these forums or the in-game messages you would have seen if you were in fact, playing the game you supposedly were loyal enough to to earn legacy in the first place.
