Pet Companions

I know it may look childish or copying from other game. But SE can do a lot with this any new game that could out and you buy it you could unlock a Pet from the game onto FFXIV any game that from SE. Thinking it over it does look very childish and many would dislike it but the matter of the fact it many would like to see something like this later on in the game. I don't see why SE can't do something like this for FFXIV when a new pack come out and you pre order you get a Pet.

I for one think if SE does it right it wont look very childish in the world of FFXIV. Here my question to you.

And if you say no why wont you like it to be added to FFXIV?

I honestly wouldn't like to see it. I just don't think it would look right to have a puppy/chocobo/cat/octopus following my character mindlessly into battle. And even if they served some purpose, having an unlock from another game would create unfair advantages. The only way I would want to see this is if they implement player housing and then the pet could stay within the confines of the home

I'd much rather them expand (a lot) on the idea of the path companion like I described long ago in this thread.

It'd be more original, functional, and would probably be liked more by those that consider pets "childish".

As for pets, i'd much rather have them as Jayvir described, as animated "furniture" for player housing.

player housing pet would be pretty cool but would you have them moving around or just put them there as something that does not move?

@JayvirDeforte by no means is this a unfair advantages you want the pet? get the game that you get it from. This is to give SE more profit it a good business plan i don't know why players go on saying oh that unfair advantages how about the token from FFXI? just because it was a token it was ok? it was a good way to get players to buy it yes but at the end it so they can make $ from it.

There a lot of item in FFXI that you had to buy something to get it and really i don't mind if they go on doing this for FFXIV give them more money to make the game better.

Crystal Chronicles/XI comes to mind. That could be expanded upon, much like our Companion is basically like the one from XI.

Oh, just because they did it, doesn't mean I agree with it or even want it. No one should be coerced into buying a game they don't want just because a pet is offered that will be essential to endgame. Vanity items is the only acceptable option IMO.

But yes, in terms of battle, I would like to see the Companion NPC take up a larger role than implementing a pet in battle. I mean, they are already there so why not?

I'm talking about a pet that is pointless it just something to have because you like it by all mean i did not say added item that are useful in some way. FFXI did add one item that was pretty good to have which you had to buy a neck item that cost 100$ for a body ingame that teleport you and your party now that i don't agree with but a item that is pointless it just something to put in your house or a pet is something i agree with.

House pets and a beastmaster class would be fantastic. Something that mindlessly follows you around while you're doing a dance of death with wyverns? No thank you.

Reconstitute beast master, dragoon like 11 (but with bells and whistles this time), summoner, puppet master and you have pets PLUS creatures from final fantasy lore. Mind boggling idea, right SE?

I would like to perhaps see little pets that would stay in your house, if we get housing eventually.
I would like to be able to raise and ride our own chocobos.
I wouldn't like to see pets following us around on the field.. It would just seem odd - not very Final Fantasy-ish in my mind.

i totally would love to have a pet! lil birdy, cat or something.
Of course they would disappear when you enter a battle but other than that, yes please.

PET Companions? .. NO THANKS ! Only pets i wanna see is for SMN and BST type jobs...SE would never go as far as doing a pet system for every one unless it was for chocobo riding. Lol its funny Ive been reading threads and people think SE is just gona start doing things like other American RPG's do like swimming? Pets? Jump at will button? camon now ..there not.

SMN and BST type jobs have no pets.
Having a monster or avatar in battle is not the same as having a little pet.

Semantics really, as in XI they're called 'Pet commands', which is what you'd get with a 'pet' system as well.

Pet jobs yes like in FFXI, but pets no thanks not ones to walk around with you anyhow...maybe make more use of our path companions somehow they are wasted at the moment.

I miss having a Wyvern like in FFXI. That was the reason I picked Dragoon. I guess it was just wishful thinking when I picked lancer in this game, hoping it would be added at some future time.

I want a paintable Moogle a'la Crystal Chronicles! If you can make it do the braindead crafting for me that would be just great SE.
