Name Day

Simple curiosity has me asking:

"How many players will decided their name day matched to their birthday?"

I for one chose to follow with my own birthday.

I did as well.

I'll be shocked if anybody didn't match it to their own birthday.

I figured I'd pick something other than the last day of the year.

Yeah, I did too. Mostly because I couldn't think of any other date that would be appropriate. :p

My own birthday, and for my males I gave them my husband birthday. :D

Picked the last day of the year. My birthday's mid-July. Maybe I'll change it to match, since that seems to be the trend.

I was going to, but if we get some kind of bonus on our nameday then I wouldn't want it to be on a day where I'm likely not to be playing! =b

I chose my bday, but apparently when I chose my god afterwards it changed the month :(. I remember once looking at the XIVPads statistics and was surprised with the overwhelming amount of characters that just left it at default. I can't remember exact numbers, but it was like 161234124312 didn't change there thing at all and 10 people did for this month and 10 did for this other month (numbers exaggerated to prove point).

Used the birthday of my favorite Japanese singer/seiyū ;)

Depends how it's presented, if it's just a date then my b'day ... If it's something like the 12th of the black month of death and evil vs the white moon month of holy paladin bleurgh then I'll be going with the coolest sounding one.

i did that on v1 and i will do it again on v2

I did, and I hope they have something in ARR for your name day, I want to party, with many tankards of Ul'dahn ale.

My nameday is my wife's birthday and her nameday is mine. We do silly things like that.

I've just pick randomly every time I've had to make one. :3

I pick a day related to the my favorite element in a month related to my favorite deity of that same element. Gives it a lore-packed feeling.

If they announce that you get some sort of gift for the name you choose, I guarantee people will pick the day after launch for their birthday.

But I'm guilty of making my name day my birthday as well.

Yes I always pick my b-day, being one of those weirdos that play through their character....

One of the nice things about the gamer sub-culture is that doesn't make you weird. Its perfectly acceptable. ^_^

Our characters don't have their 'birthday's' based on our real life calendar but rather, on the in-game one. While I don't know the exact time it takes to go through a whole year in Eorzea vs. Earth time, I'm gonna assume we get to see our character birthdays at least once every 2-3 weeks.

A LONG long time ago, I think I saw a dev post on this (I have no idea how to find it again as it was a longtime ago) that said more or less that *IF* we ever got a use for namedays etc, they might offer us a small in game bonus/token during our in-game namesday...and that their might be potential for a larger, once a year namesday gift based on the earth calendar as well. However, I'm sure if they implemented this for ARR, that your big prize would be waiting in your player mailbox the next time you logged in.

PS: both my Hubby and I used our actual rl birthdays. But his IS 1/1 and mine is 12/1...so we have 'popular' birthdays anyway :/

I picked my real birthday. Hopefully there will be some kinda perks later on, like if you sign up at a restaurant's website and you get a free meal or something. Nothing major or anything, just something acknowledging your name day.

I'm not too surprised, but it's nice to know a lot of people do use their bdays. I was thinking of making one up for my own character but it seems fake to do it that way.

My char has always had his Name Day the same as my bday since Open Beta in 1.0

I will be keeping it the same come ARR
