PS3 vs PC

The thread name just attracts more attention:D

What system are you playing on?

I will be playing on PS3 since i don't own a gaming PC at the moment. If i have to i will eventually buy anotherone but i doubt it.

Why?

Because PS3 is more convinient for me, and i like the idea of using my PS3 to play an mmo.

PC, because I'm made of money.

PC since well I already played 1.0 on PC and stuff....

Initially on PC but I'm planning on getting the PS3 version as well, that way I can switch from the chair to the bed and keep playing. :P

I do have PS3 too just for FFXIII. I used my code for PS3 beta so I can compare them, however I'll only seriously play on PC.

Lol everyones made of money on here! I mean i can afford a gaming computer or even just build one.. But the idea of it being on the PS3 excites me!

Pc and Ps3.

Pc = Cooler = Chair
Ps3 = Bed = Q___

I play on gamepad/pc on couch anyways, but I'll get ps3 version because ya never know, PC's die, i've had it happen.

True that, thats the thing with pc its like raising another chocobo..you have to take care of it and change its diaper every few years

Both. Primarily on PC, but will switch off to PS3 when I don't want to tie up my PC when I'm doing heavy animation projects (like rendering QQ)

Initially dual boxing on two PCs.

Eventually will probably try PS3 depending on how much money it will cost. Probably will wait until the game is $20 or less and buy it. Not sure what to do with the 3rd account though. Probably give it away to a friend.

PC. Computer in every room of the house.. lol

And I have a computer connected to my TV so if I really care about a controller I can just connect one.


Atm I see no reason to buy the ps3 version XD


(But I hope the PS3 version is successful, I want SE to blow lots of money on updates and expansion packs :D)

PC since 1) It'll look better, 2) I don't own a PS3 myself, and 3) I can play on my PC from my bed anyway. Yay for wireless and big monitors. :D

I will be playing on the PS3 too, Nez. For me it will be nostalgic and remind me of when I got the FFXI box set with HDD for PS2. Plus I enjoy getting the trophies on the PSN network. The only thing I won't like about the ps3 version will be the resolution limitation. I remember before 2.0 was announced they said the PS3 version would be limited to 720p. Is this still true with the new engine?

To stretch graphic details to the limit games tend to Render at 720p and 30 FPS on the PS3. It's because limitations of what the old hardware can do.

I'm 99% sure that FFXIV on PS3 will be at these settings unless the characters are rendered as Wii avatars.

Edit: 3d Render resolution is even lower than I thought it would be. 544 vertical

I'll play both, but mainly on PC, since i don't see any benefits to play with a PS3, i only see cons like less characters and monsters showed, no addons and i don't like to play with controller.

Yes, I wonder how far they'll be able to stretch 512mb of ram on the ps3. I might be inclined to the PC version if i had a better computer. I guess i'll have to wait and see if the ps3 graphics satisfy. Then decide on whether or not to get a new PC.

After investing on my pc. I guess Will stay on PC. I will get the PS3 Ver When I'm traveling I just hope doesn't suck like FFXI 360 Ver always freezing /hexa-slaps Xbox 360

I will buy both versions. But if the chat is too hard too read, like in dcuo, i might be more on my ... laptop :P

I'll play on PC, I have PS3 and I'll play it too just for BETA.

pc, pc and ps3, using one account on pc and one switching between both. If you dont have a gamepad with turbo-button yet, get it! :P

PC for me because I don't own a PS3. ;-;

I will play on both! PC when I feel like sitting upright and PS3 when I want to be chilled laid back on the couch lol.

I played XI on PS2 for 5.5 years and switched to PC in the last year I played (bought a new PC having planned to play XIV when it released).

Once in a while that year I did updates on the PS2 and would log in. I really couldn't deal with how it looked after having played on PC. After that I could never look back.

Then I got used to playing KB only and apparently now I'm a PC/KB only snob. Please forgive me! :p

On PC, cause I spent a lot of money upgrading my PC to be sure to run ARR on the genreleading graphics we have been told about :D

I didn't know there was an option besides PC >.>; (obviously joking)

Without a way to do voice chat, outside using cellphone, communication would be annoying in hard areas that wouldn't give you time to type out on the fly change of plan.

I play on both.
PC for normal gaming and PS3 to play just for me in the evening after work with no stress and fully relaxed. With a beer on the table ^^

PC because i don't have to worry about having to use a phone or a PC for voice chat. I don't have to wait to SE add the best add-on to PS3. That and i don't own a ps3 and don't have the money for it i do have a friend who going to play the ps3 version tho.

Probably almost everyone who ran 1.0 ok will be using PC still, I mean 2.0 will run better then 1.0 so ok turns to good and anyone that ran 1.0 good is just going to have their computer die from computational boredom lol

I'm curious to what kind of attitude PS3 players will bring to FFXIV, like in FFXI you could feel a shift in social ambiance when SE released it for ps2*.


*The funniest change imo was that GMs got lazy on the name policy and I saw butternipples and such running around - something that would have never happened before then XD
