Race or gender will have very little if any impact on stat attributes.
In FFXIV 1.0 they didn't make much of a difference. I recall in FFXI there was a big difference. I hope in ARR there is no difference so players don't have to choose between race and stats.
I recall there was something said once on this subject, I don't remember what it was. Or I could have been dreaming.
You weren't dreaming as I remember it too. They said something about "bringing it up" to the Devs and Yoshi I believe. I was surprised it wasn't in 1.0. I had mixed feelings about it not being there but I accepted it since XIV is NOT XI and assumed there was a reason behind it. I liked trying though to have a character with bad stats and reworking them; but I like a challenge lol
well...
could be used to balance out the population...
give Miqo'te some low stats so we don't have 70% cat people :p
if it was the case, people would only play lals for DoM/L/H, cause they would be useless as any DoW cause small, fat, WEAK.
Hyur are (I suppose that should be were) more numerous than Miqote.

There were (are as of november final save) Race and Clan differences in XIV's attributes. The problem was XIV's attribute system, is a mess and level correction is pretty much the only thing that matters in the long run it did nothing.
So with ARR there will most likely be Race and Clan differences in stats once again and it's such a minor thing that no one will notice since the only affect that will seen is in the first 10 levels that you blow through speaking with NPCs anyway.
I'm fine with race/clan stats as long as it doesn't reach the degree it did in XI. Often people were pigeonholed into racial roles because of the inherent statistic benefit. But like it has been stated, it's looking like ARR will have them be fairly minor; though I wonder what the purpose of adding them to begin is when they become irrelevant in the scheme of things.
Nod to immersion without causing limited gameplay.
Just gets rid of the idea that there is a growth rate difference. So the haply passed phrase "try hard enough and you can do anything" is preserved but the negative idea that someone could always do it better in comparison is lessened (like on average men for strength and women for flexibility - if both practiced at the same rate).
your god is whats gonna effect your stats in ARR. think there sticking with the same stats per race.
