I stumbled upon the Flickr account of [kodama_SS], and was thoroughly amazed by their Photoshop handiwork. Nostalgic feels ensued. Peruse the beautiful images [here].

Actually if you go on the flickr link above, some of 100+ images have sizes of up to 1600x900, although I don't think any of them are anywhere near 1080p or higher.

Some are 1080p. Like the first lala one the OP posted.

Nice find op! I remember seeing this on xivpads a few months ago...goregous screenshots and Photoshop! I wish I could do that haha :)

Those are amazing! Through, I know they are shopped, the textures really were that high if you wanted them to be. It looks like they heightened it by making hairs and skin roughness stand out, smoothed rough edges, and added some reflection in eyes besides the other obvious edits.

Incredible work. Kind of boggles my mind though that the game really did render graphics close to what you see... and it was an MMO. lol

Those are really great....why didn't the game look like that?? :)
Only thing i didn't like, was the Lalas...which was 90% of the pics -.-

Some of the pics were probably extracted models, rendered in some 3D program though.

I don't think so, at least from the tutorials they have posted. The yukata miqo'te one seems like a nice merge of a photo, a screenshot and some edits to the hair.

I hate to sound like a graphics whore but I really do hope Yoshi keeps his promise and that ARR's graphics are even better than 1.0's when maxed.

A man can dream I suppose. One thing no one could complain about in FFXIV was the graphics.

I'm still very impressed by how they managed to create that bokeh, and how nuanced the lighting and shadows are.

Yeah Kodama's work has been nothing short of spectacular. Really excellent renderings that spiffily show off the beauty of Eorzea... which is why I even linked it on my blog over a year ago.
