Did anyone else notice Garlean soldiers have Gunblade? Not super important but just a odd item I noticed while working with some pictures.

wait IS that a gunblade? i can't really tell
It makes sense. We already know that we have muskets and some other mech-like machinery. Gun-blades will fit right in. :)
Upon further inspection it totally is I even found the barell and exit to the "revolver" like mechanism on the sword.

Yes, and you only needed to progress further into the story to find that out. lol
@_@;; oh god, gunblades
Coooooooool~
Yep, it's a gunblade. The Garlean empire use those and magitek. We haven't seem much of the story yet but it seem the eorzea vs garlean empire is also a magic vs technology war. One side having mages, summon(primals) and the other one juggernaut, war airships and gunblades.
Wonder if there will be a gunblader class at one point.
more importent question, how did you guys not realise that was a gunblade it kinda obviouse.
..wouldnt a bullet hit the part of the blade that is jutting out?
(oh god i'm pointing out logical problems with a gunblade, i'm just going to go back to pretending its a rifle with an impractically long bayonet)
I kind of wish they'd go back to an FF8 style gunblade where it's melee only.
Well, at lvel 34 story quest, you learn that the airships over town, are not really transportation, but they are imperial ships, droping propaganda over the cities. In limsa lots of NPC, especially in custom house, say that imperial tech is cursed, and main aim of customs house is preventing it to get into limsa and cause treoubles.
I don't think they say it's cursed as much as they just don't want any seriously powerful and exotic tech making its way into a city full of pirates that, you know, want to do the whole pillaging/raping/killing thing with 'em.
SPOILERS
The final mission (Rank 46) you will see the gunblade in use and it very awesome. I really hope it is added as a class as that guy is very cool.
The FFXIV official site comments on the gunblades in the garlean empire section, I believe.
I didn't know that about the propeganda being dropped from the airships though, that's really interesting! It's that kind of thing that I hope we see more about in future quests and stuff (cutscenes would be nice..)
Nice! Finding information we've known since Alpha, good job :D im just tugging.
If you would like I can post screenshots that prove that these are in fact gunblades. I would rather not though as they are story spoilers to those who have not completed the missions (R46) available so far. It is something to look forward to most definitely.
I wish someone would also post the data-mined class sheet :D (I forgot to save it >.>)
In all seriousness though, while this is old there are some people who don't know about it. The mention of the R46 quest makes me want to get that last rank to 46 that much more. At least I'll hit 45 tonight. Sooooo close >.<
Gunblades like the one pictured aren't a new idea and honestly we've seen examples of them in the real world. Sure they aren't really practical or incredibly useful but it's a proven technology.
Another thing to add to this, in regards to Garlean technology. Their airships are pictured on the "Forgekin Eluder" trait so I'm assuming that's what we're classifying all of their tech weapons as.

Ahh I've yet to actually do my R46 mission so that could be why I never knew...
I am in favor of guns
I am in favor of blades
I am strongly against gun-blades. (just a personal preference)
Forget gun swords. I want a magitek arm cannon.
Arm cannons are for wimps. Magitek armor or bust.
