Digital Collection?
I remember them saying that those who bought the CE for 1.0 would also be given CE treatment for A Realm Reborn upon launch via digital distribution.
Yeah but I'll be able to do it once ARR comes out...
Why not wait and buy FFXIV:ARR CE? (that's if it come).
About that treatment I never heard about it O.o (even though I bought the CE)
Can you tell me where they talk about that, or what treatment will be given, please?
I am also pretty sure the CE is tough to find at this point, and you'll be paying premium for it. If you plan to start a new character and account I would say sure go for it. If not, I would just wait for ARR CE
Yeah they said that if you didn't register a code by the time it went offline then you can do it once ARR gets released... I assume this was for the ff13 users that never bought the game and entered it before...

(Scroll down to special item codes)
Yes they'll accept 1.0 game codes once they start accepting codes again, so if you want to buy the CE, go ahead.
I kinda wanted to buy the regular edition just for completionist sake but they spiked in price everywhere >.>
For the Garlond Goggles <.< And yeah 40 dollars is too much for the standard edition. I used to see them for under 10 dollars on ebay and Amazon.
I thought goggles were the standard edition. Onion helm was CE, right? The whole point of the goggles was for standard players to "catch up" to the early release CE players, hence the "increased skill gain" or w/e on the goggles.
That's correct - Garlond Goggles: Standard Edition; Onion Helm: Collector's Edition (there was also a third bonus in the form of Hermes' Sandals you could only get by registering either version and then linking an active FFXI account to your FFXIV account, but that bonus is no longer offered).
It's interesting that the prices spiked though. It means that the outlook on the game has improved considerably.
Improved..or people who have no interest in the game spiked it as a "rare collectors item" without knowing about the code being valid or anything like that.
I really just wanted the Garlond Goggles so if anyone has a code to spare, I'd be more than happy to take. Until then, I continue my search >.>
I had no idea that code was for goggles ack!!!
I just received the CE it's so cool! The security token is a nice addition...
Going from original price to 90% of that back to original price is quite a considerable feat. Though what probably helped was the fact SE told all the game resellers to burn their copies of the old version lol. (Seriously damaging the supply)
I really hope to see some Dev/Rep feedback on if the standard editions can upgrade to ARR CE. Or if they are going to do like the first time and the standard and CE have different bonuses - then I guess thats fair.
Would be nice for the CE then to be able to 'upgrade' for standard bonuses as well. Can sell the complete edition to completely new people (ARR CE and ARR Standard bonuses packed in one) too.
Though for us.. really hope for a smaller fee unless they are going to ship the whole new box.
I love my CE and wouldn't upgrade it <.< Well maybe if it was just the game disc we had to send in or something lol
And yah, what Shougun says is what I was gettin' at. The Standard Edition was running for super cheap there for awhile, even when the game was announced to be going offline. Then the prices spiked >_< I keep wanting to kick myself for not buying one when they were dirt cheap. Ah well, maybe when my finances recover from the holiday season I'll buy one.
Quote too long gone for me to go find but you are getting the digital equivelent of whatever you purchased initially, so those new digital items included - no need to send in your disc or send in anything.
Was just really hoping that Standard players can upgrade to obtain ARR CE items, and that 1.0 CE can upgrade to obtain standard items.
(Like in 1.0 CE got a helm and standard got goggles)
Ya I don't mind the digital equivalent, but if they were to ask me to surrender anything from my CE I'd be like "nuh"! XD
The only reason I want the standard ed. is for the goggles. I know I can't have them on my main becuase of how their system works, but I planned to reroll a new chara to try ARR fresh :3
In ARR you will be able to claim all awaiting prizes. Beyond the obvious annoyance it created for 1.0 they had to do this because in ARR you will get the digital items but how do you apply them without starting over? :P lol
So there is going to be some sort of /claim command (or npc).
God I hope so. I loved that from XI, you entered your code and then you go and pick it up on a moogle. Only drawback was you were limited to one character.
I may just drop money on one next month, incase they spike even more when they try to confuse buyers by saying "Buy the game its almost out (again)!"
Well actually since we will have the ability to "remake" our character I imagine they will give us the ability to get new items from codes that we input... Especially since they will probably offer new items from the codes... Also if your inventory was full then they could just move it to the special inventory all items past 100 go... Now that I have both the CE and regular I hope they allow me to get both new items...
Second I've never heard of company ask you to surrender the older version for an upgrade... it wouldn't make much sense to do so since they would have to pay for the the disposal of the traded item... I would imagine that they would have the option to purchase the upgrade in the square enix management system (like with the security token) for anyone that has registered there onion helm since that would mean you have the collectors edition in possession unless the service account for CE is different than the Standard Edition (I wouldn't know since I can't register my CE codes till ARR gets released)
Just as a note having the CE codes are such a tease since I can't input them T_T And the right passage voucher has expired...
Thinking about it... I don't think I ever seen the code for the goggles when I bought my FF14. Maybe it was because I bought it in May of 2012, or Amazon derped, I honestly dunno
Ah, I forgot about the Ebay option for a moment. In that case, enjoy your CE! There's a good chance some of the goodies will not be available in the 2.0 CE, as they will have new ones.
The initial batch will have a sticker on them :P

I do not claim any personal success of verification in that, I just googled 'garlond goggles ebay'.. lol
Now if someone could find me the Asuran gloves that dont cost 50$ XD
SE version bought from square-enix also came with garlond goggles but that is also gone... maybe you can find an initial SE out there or look further for them... I know my CE came with my CE code, right of passage code (now useless but still cool) and buddy pass all in the game box... So maybe some SE may have the goggles code in it too?
Hah. I got lucky with those and got XIII when it first came out. But thanks for the link XD
I have the CE, and it doesn't come with the goggles. We got Onion Helm (which I never used cause it was fkin ugly <.<). And I'm still bitter about not ever receiving my right of passage thing in the mail (second thing SE lost in the mail with me, first being my XI token that died a week after purchasing it ><)
I've found a standard ed that's 30 dollars online, but what makes this difficult is the way sellers tend to just use stock images and not specify if the code is included or not. So I have no real way of knowing if it contains the code or not unless I contact the sellers (which can get tedious <.<)
