Posted something similar over on Eorzeapedia, but I thought I would toss it here for those who browse these forums. I thought the community might get a kick out of it.
I'm sure a lot of you remember the days when people would make linkshell "opening" videos in FFXI. They'd use the model viewer, and ramp it up to be a sort of parody of anime openings. Well, I decided back in March that I wanted to bring that tradition into FFXIV.
All I had seen on youtube were people who took all the cutscene and CG clips of FFXIV, mashed them together with a song, and claimed it as their linkshell recruitment video (not that there's anything wrong with that). I decided to do something different. Of course, we lack a model viewer that was as functional as FFXI's, so filming really active and engaging scenes was extremely difficult. Trying to tie in metaphors to the video and music made that even more mind-numbing.
...And I hope I didn't botch the Japanese.
This is the first time I've ever tried to tackle a video like this, so it's extremely amateur. Sorry. Bring on the hate. Anyways, I hope some of you get a kick out of it. I've also got a few different videos of FFXIV-related material up on that channel as well. ^^'

I was shocked about the "Outer Heaven "Besaid". I'm in Outer Heaven LS in Gysahl but... just 2 or 3 ppl usually connect. They moved or what? xD

I loved that video and have always loved FFXI vids too. One of my favorites was made by Devifoxx Called "Shounen Heart"
Cant seem to find it anymore but its was made around ToAU release. ^^
I always thought about making one of my own but I haven't really found the time to do it. I can draw characters though, maybe animate the hair in the wind a bit too. But as for taking in video clips, I'm not so great at that xD
I would actually love to make a new character on Besaid again just to join your LS and draw some characters for ya :) -

Dude......... AWESOME VID. If i had a working pc i flippen join.
Don't sell yourself short you did a very good job. the song and video synced up well. The editing was well done. Even the "lack luster" effects look nice in the vid. :)
(i took a multimedia class so i know a good vid when I see it)

Very sweet video i made a comment on it, i did one myself but it was for a old linkshell of mine so i took it done. I ended up with 50GB of clips and ended up only using 30% of everything i film for a 4min clip :). you did a great job i ended up del my char and starting over as a new start type of thing and be going to your world so i hope i see you around sometime :)

I hope ppl make machinama for ffxiv. I like watching the ones from WoW or user made music vids or trailers. They have what I call an epic user-made trailer for ffxi. The title is in japanese but the person who made it used the first blood+ intro song. It features ffxi and the 4 expantion packs.
Honestl I would love a benny hill parody vid in ffxiv. or the classic "who's on first/ the tank?"
Look up "who's the tank" its a WoW machinama but pretty funny. This is also why character chat animations are pretty good idea :3 -
