yes please! i want to see plans! lol
They probably don't want to force themselves into a set date. Like here is when closed beta will start, open beta this date, release here. Because if they can't make those dates then people will complain a bunch.
They don't want to rush a release like 1.0 and have it suck really bad.
Game will get here when it's ready. Only reason I want a road map is to know how long I need to keep buying/playing other games until 2.0's release.
Agree. We were apparently going to get them at the end of November/very start of December. It's not as though they're unfinished as they were presented to Dengeki, 4G, etc. in the latest interview circuit.
I really don't care about Alpha/Beta timeline. I really want to see when/what coming in the next patches after launch.
Feb=End of Alpha, start of beta, then 4 phases then probably few weeks or month then release with probably 33 Areas, Then 2-4 months after that some content and release of some extra Areas. Few more months with raids, crystal tower and some adjustments and Job quest for Summoner.
Dec 2014 beta 2.
Well, taken that you understand that the game will be here when it's ready makes me wonder why you ask how long until release? It is kind of obvious that it is uncertain. XD
We are all excited and hope that SE take and use time given. Let's hope for a productive Beta event.
:)
I've been trying not to be impatient about everything because I want the game to be great as well, it's just hard when you're this excited about something =)
I'd love it if they'd release even just a road map with general time periods, not necessarily specific dates (I.E. beta starts some time in February) So they don't have to commit to a specific date and if they happen to miss the planned dead line you don't have a bunch of butt-hurt players complaining about it.
I couldnt give a damn about the roadmap. Alpha, Beta, Delta <Can I have it>?.
people just need to calm down and wait when the game is rdy they gonna tell us in advance right now play anything u want, i want a complete game that is gonna bit all other MMO game out there, like yoshi said he not going to realse the game until he feel is the best and gonna bit all the competition in the world, so just relax and take time to enjoy life, or enjoy other games that you never finish lmao soon or later the game is gonna be out and im pretty sure in gonna be rdy almost by summer
Road maps help or a few years from now after getting caught up in Guild Wars 3 we will find ourselves musing "I remember A Realm Reborn...wonder if they ever finished that game? If I remember...it was kinda cool"
If they rush the game, then there won't even be a game to remember even. 1.0 was like that... lets not follow that route again shall we?Quote:

Yoshida said that we will have an updated road map and I expect that he will be true to his word as he has been in the past. I do not expect specific dates but general time frames for the development of the game. I am sure that they have a good idea as to how the game is progressing and can project outward. A general time frame is sufficient for me as long as they keep us apprised of any major setbacks. No matter what they do people will complain about something. It's just the nature of the forums. At least this will give them something specific to complain about. And we can either ignore them or troll them as we normally do.
If Yoshida-san has proven to us 1 thing it is the fact that he is firmly dedicated to releasing a product that will be the best it can be. Therefore I suspect that the game might be delayed 1-2 months beyond its current projected launch. This is more then acceptable to me if it gets it right. I, like most people, just want some idea as to how they currently foresee the game progressing to release. An updated general road map will do this.
I'm not clear on what you're expecting, are the alpha videos and dev postings not enough? I just fail to understand the benefit of making a roadmap if it isn't going to be followed 100%, then when this happens people will cry. I for one am happy with the alpha videos, live letters and dev postings.
I'd love to see a road map just to see what they have planned for us to come. Don't need dates or time frames, just a ordered list of work in the works and to come. Even if they do give dates, they are always subject to change if problems arise. Last road map was a month behind near the end. Just to get a general idea of when we can expect to be roaming Ezorea again. But either way, road map or no, I'll still be hoping for a great release.
Didn't they say they were going to update the roadmap this month? Or was it after alpha is done? Personally, I'd rather they not give us a roadmap till after beta is halfway done. There is no point in giving us a roadmap before beta since any number of things can go wrong and the game would be delayed because of it. Hence player frustration at the "lies" on the roadmap.
You know, as much as I would like a general idea of the schedule they have projected...I can live without it. Yoshida has already stated that they will release it when he feels it is ready and not a moment sooner.
This is enough for me. I'm willing to adopt the same "Ready when it's ready" mindset that the producer has.
The Alpha videos show only what is happening now and by necessity are limited in scope. The Dev posts, through no fault of their own, are spotty at best. The road maps are something that SE instituted themselves with FFXI. They were adpoted by Yoshi-P when he made the decision to scrap ver 1.0 in favor of building ARR from the ground up. This was done by SE in order to make a concerted effort to be more open with their online subscribers. These maps are usually done annually and it has been over a year since the last one. So unles SE is changing their policy we are due for a new one anyways. Plus, as I said before, Yoshi-P promised us one early in Dec and he has never knowingly gone back on something that he said he would do. I am not looking for exact dates as the last one proved how misguided that can be when you are developing a new game. All people are looking for is an idea as to how SE is going to proceed in the future with the game. Hope this explains my position regarding the road map.
WIth ya OP, I like getting things I was told to expect. Thats not entitlement, its called reality.
I agree with all of this completely. I have been looking forward to it. No, I do not want a rushed/incomplete game.. but I'd like to have a better idea of what's going on "under the hood" and what expected testing dates are.
Damned if you, damned if you don't as others have said. Life isn't perfect, but having some sense of time would help my anxiety even if facing the reality of waiting several months or even half a year before we get to ARR....
inb4 ARR launch at September 2013...
Sorry to keep everyone waiting on a new roadmap! I'd like to offer you all an update in place of Yoshi-P, who hasn't come up for a breath of air in between finalizing the close of the Alpha Test and prepping for the start of the Beta Test.
We've completed the initial draft of the roadmap and it's currently being checked by each region's Legal department. After it's finalized, it will be localized into English, French, and German.
We're pulling out all the stops to release it soon, so hang in there just a bit more.
Updated Information supplied. I'm good. Thanks cat.
You ever get the feeling this is going to be Yoshi's Chant Du Cygne because of all the stress? >.>
(See wut I did thar?)
