Since 2.0 will be more true to the numbered Final Fantasies, anyone else hoping for these guys at some point?
I would love to see these guys show up.
What about Han and Luke?
I kept mentioning them before. I was beginning to think I was the only one who wanted to see these two.
I can totally see them fitting well into the Garlean Empire taking the same roles as they had in FFVIII. Comedy and mishaps a bit like Hildibrand, not really acting with the Empire but having their own agenda and storyline.
Just imagine how they would pair with Hildebrand in the comic relief department.
I made a post about this very same topic a while back, and I'm glad this is cropping up again. If Square is going to put things in from various Final Fantasy games, Chocobo and Moogle aside, I think Biggs and Wedge would make great additions to the world of Eorzea as relevant, yet side characters to something.
It's the little things that become the most memorable. It's funny how such minor characters can make a big impact.
I miss Biggs and Wedge.
They would make perfect comic relief as a Garlean trooper. Would be sweet if they make multiple appearances in different expansions too.
It's been a while since they were blatantly in a numbered game.
In XII, they were two guards near Nalbina, but you had to go out of your way at a certain point in the plot to get their scene and their names were only anagrams of "Biggs" and "Wedge."
In XIII it is insinuated that they run the online store, "B & W Outfitters" and that is all I believe we see/hear of them.
Let's turn that around, shall we?
Didn't George Lucas ask SE to stop using the names, hence they don't use them anymore?
Biggs and Wedge as Legatus gogogo
George Lucas doesn't own star wars anymore. I don't think he has any claim on the characters either. (not sure)
So hope they bring these two guys back!!
Given the relationship between SE and Disney, I'm sure Disney would give the go ahead for SE to add them in. And yeah, they HAVE to be Garleans. Even better is if we can fight them several times, and after each defeat, they get demoted. They start off as Captain/Lieutenant and after their storyline ends, they are both privates or something.
Actually there's never been an issue with Lucas when SE put Biggs and Wedge in the FF series and @ theBard they actually do make a cameo appearance in kh2 as shop keepers
btw i do support those nuts being in this game
Absolutely, I love Biggs and Wedge, clumsy fools. I remember them from FF8 as Galbadia soldiers on top of that radio tower. They've been around for a long time and deserve a place in XIV.
Please Yoshi, please do add these guys!
Red Leader, standing by.
Ahh those two, I'd love to see them make an appearance.
I'd feel bad docking more wages from Wedge though, poor man's got to eat.
Final Fantasy is just a giant melting pot of culture, mythology and legends. I mean Cid has been in every numbered Final Fantasy (riots will be had if he didn't survive) Biggs and Wedge are relatively "new", but I think they fit so VERY well in military oriented positions. The empire deserves soldiers of their caliber!
I agree that they would be awesome as comedic, recurring Garlean soldiers and are a perfect example of "good" fanservice.
As others have said, FF8 Biggs and Wedge is an excellent reference to what we mean, but I'll also throw out Solt and Peppor from Chrono Cross! Not FF and not Biggs and Wedge, but they play the same role.

Excellent example. The tag team comedic relief is an oldie but a goodie.
How about we get them as a tutorial fight? "after five years in the void, the garleans have set up a forward command post at the base of the crystal tower/ area bahumat destroyed. Our characters just so happen to return to this area after their mysterious disappearance, right in the operations command of major biggs and lieutenant wedge. who then proceed to give us a break down as to whats changed battle system wise in the time we have been gone while fighting us... leading to their defeat..." just a quick thought something along those lines i think would be pretty funny.

Nah that sounds boring. (In my opinion)
They are not new at all, their names have been in the series for a long time.
Here's a list of some of the appearances they have made.
*In the Dawn of Souls and 20th Anniversary remakes of the original Final Fantasy, Biggs and Wedge are some of the automatic names the player can choose for the Thief job.
*Biggs and Wedge appear in Final Fantasy IV: The After Years as Red Wings soldiers who die protecting Prince Ceodore from an attack led by the Mysterious Girl. The game reveals that Biggs and Wedge were actually the two soldiers who questioned Cecil about stealing the Water Crystal of Mysidia at the beginning of Final Fantasy IV.
*Biggs, originally mistranslated as Vicks in the original English translation, and Wedge, are two briefly playable characters, who assist Terra Branford on her raid of Narshe. The Vicks mistranslation is referenced in Dissidia Final Fantasy in a tutorial where Biggs, using his Final Fantasy VI sprite says "Huh? You wanted to talk to Vicks?... I have no idea who you're talking about. There is no Vicks, only Biggs. Ahem. Moving along..."
*Biggs and Wedge, along with a third friend Jessie, are part of the eco-terrorist group, AVALANCHE. They take part in the attacks on Midgar's Sector 1 and Sector 5 Mako Reactors. When Shinra attacks Sector 7 to drop the plate upon the Slums, Biggs and Wedge try to fight to defend the town. They are badly wounded - perhaps even fatally - along with Jessie. They are ultimately killed when the Shinra Company brought down the upper plate on Sector 7.
*In Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- Biggs and Wedge make a small appearance as the names of two paired machines Zack can snipe while escaping from Nibelheim.
*In Dirge of Cerberus -Final Fantasy VII-, Biggs and Wedge get a brief mention. While on the missions in Midgar's Train Graveyard, Vincent can talk with a girl from the World Regenesis Organization (WRO). She mentions that her brother had been part of a rebel group which was against Shinra, and that he had died three years earlier during the dropping of the sector seven plate, implying her brother to be either Biggs or Wedge.
*Major Biggs and Lieutenant Wedge are members of the Galbadia Army. Squall Leonhart, Zell Dincht, Selphie Tilmitt, and Seifer Almasy first meet them in the Dollet Radio Tower, where they are repairing it. Squall, Zell, and Selphie fight them, but the duo are blown away by Elvoret. They are next seen in the D-District Prison, where they have been demoted to Lieutenant and Private, respectively. They are sent to deal with Zell, Selphie, and Quistis Trepe, who have escaped from their cell. Their last appearance is in Lunatic Pandora, where they are considering retiring from the G-Army. They also appear as a Triple Triad card.
Final Fantasy VIII marks the first time Biggs and Wedge manage to live all the way through the game. They also stopped dying in the later installments.
*In Final Fantasy X, Biggs and Wedge guard the blitzball stadium in Luca and can be recruited for the player's blitzball team. They are considered upper-tier players. The duo also appear in Final Fantasy X-2 as part of the Gullwings' blitzball team.
*Making a small cameo under the names of Gibbs and Deweg in Final Fantasy XII, they are two Archadian soldiers guarding the entrance to the Mosphoran Highwaste at Nalbina Fortress.
However, the player can gain earlier access to the Mosphoran Highwaste by riding a chocobo up to them. Gibbs will reveal his hatred of chocobos, and start to back off, claiming he used to work around chocobos when he was younger, and could never get their smell out without the help of expensive cologne. Eventually, he'll run away, and Deweg will follow, opening up access to the Highwaste. This is the only time players can see the two.
*Final Fantasy XIII
The shop B&W Outfitters in the Retail Network, has the B and W refer to Biggs and Wedge
*Final Fantasy Tactics
Biggs shows up as an enemy in the "intro" battle at Orbonne Monastery, where he's quickly killed by Ramza and Gaffgarion.
Wedge can't be found in the English version of Final Fantasy Tactics. But, the Japanese release features a number of sound novel Minigames you can play by reading some of the books you get as Artefacts. One of these books, Nanai's Histories, features appearances from both Biggs (as a bartender) and Wedge (as his assistant).
*In the English translation of Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, Biggs is a former business subordinate of Cid Randell. Biggs and Wedge also appear as random names for character units.
*Final Fantasy Dimensions
Biggs and Wedge guard the Castle Lux.
*Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon 2
Biggs and Wedge appear as two Black Mages who may assist the player, alongside Jessie, who appeared alongside Biggs and Wedge in Final Fantasy VII.
*Chrono Trigger
In Chrono Trigger, Biggs and Wedge are the name of two soldiers found in the Tent of Horrors in the Millennial Fair. They are joined by a third soldier named Piette, whose name is likely a reference to Admiral Firmus Piett from Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. Like in Final Fantasy VI, Biggs was called Vicks in the SNES and PlayStation versions, but this was corrected in the Nintendo DS version.
*Kingdom Hearts II
Biggs and Wedge, along with Jessie and Barret from Final Fantasy VII make cameos as shopkeepers in Kingdom Hearts II.

Biggs and Wedge have been the tutorial battles for a few FFs (6,sorta 7,8) so if we deal with the Garlean empire early in the story of ARR, it could work (Solt/Peppor were tutorial battles in Chrono Cross). SE probably already made the tutorial quests but IMO it could work well.
Yes we need them in game, I miss them so much :p
Incompetent members of the garlean empire would work really well to represent FFVIII. I could have seen them using Biggs and Wedge, instead of Hildibrand and Nashu as well.
Kind of like Jessie and James in the Pokémon anime?
I never knew who Biggs and Wedge were. Can anyone refer me to a link/description about them? Final Fantasy XI was my first mainstream numbered Final Fantasy game, and XIV is my second, though I own both Tactics Advance games as well.
The entire history of Biggs and Wedge http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Biggs_and_Wedge
The one people seem to want most is from FFVIII.
If they ever get Biggs and Wedge in game i hope they'll arrive in a CS on Magiteck Armor
OHH please please please!!! add Biggs and Wedge! its the little things that make Final Fantasy so memorable!
I love looking for FF references within FF games, biggs and wedge included, So I hope they add them in!
Can't wait to see if they do and how.
