I've found myself lost in thought a lot recently, wondering about the new summoner jobs theyre putting in. THe devs said arcanist would only be able summon different types of carbuncles but ive been fantasizing about how insane it would be if the later gave the job much more variety.
The game that officially got me hooked on the final fantasy series was FFX and till date i still consider it one of the best games ever made. I've been noticing a lot of similarites between ffxiv and ffx and in more ways than just the re-used "final fantasy" content.
Like how when i was on the "living on the prayer tour of eorzea". I couldnt help but getting reminded about yuna's quest in ffx to travel across the world and pray in all the temples.
Now to the point of the thread. hehe. Do you guys remember how in ffx when a summon appeared it would swap places with the party and if it died, then the party would just take its place.
How about...... for the summoner's lvl 50 skill, the one with the 15 min cooldown. It would be allowed to summon a huge beast (or aoen, hehe, if u will) that would take the position of the whole party and only that beast would be fighting for one minute or two. and then when the time runs out, or if the beast dies, the party returns and continues fighting. This is pure fantasy of course but i still cant help wondering about it. It'd be epic!.

Take the place of the whole party? Your teammates may not like being forced sidelined at random, though if you could rest and recover hp/mp, this could have some uses if used right.

It was weird seeing them as summons in FF X cause they was a a boss mob from FF 4. I would love to see them but not like this.

11-20-2012, 02:27 PMGokuloI don't even wanna be mean, but it's hard to say it in another words - that's one of the worst ideas I've heard lately O.o Aside of the whole technical side of things on how to block two people from playing, the sole idea of doing that is rather crazy. New gameplay elements should be added to the game to make it more enjoyable and fun for players, not for them to stand doing nothing and watching NPCs fight.Quote:

hmm that idea would not work in a MMO. maybe an offline game like ff10 but on an MMO, its just not possible on any level.

If "the Twelve" were summon-able, would it work like "Knights of the Round"?

A re-imagining of the Magus sisters in FFXIV might be a neat idea, but as a boss, not a summon.
Maybe after an expansion or two down the road.
