<3 VIII
Gunblades were also Lightning's weapon in XIII, so as it's a recurring FF thing it might be nice to see =) I know I'd love it!
Although I'd also love to see Rinoa's Pinwheel ;) Would make an amazing class!
Why no gunstaff?
Pascal has to be my favourite character in that game.
Gunweapons would be nice though i guess it depends exactly how they would go about implementing them. Wether they are some sort of alternative weapon choices to classes/jobs or if they are handed to new classes/jobs.
hey we gonna be throwing books so idk why a gun staff would be so far fetched. I can see it now the end of the staff opening up and shooting some kinda special spell out.
GUNBOOKS.....................
Or guns that shoot books
well Darnus had a gunstaff and gauis has the gunblade
I know gunblades are already kinda in the game with imperials and all but i would like to use one^^
and i dont see the problem with it being an imperial weapon, after 5 years there could be some development with cid being there and all. If he didnt die.
That may be so, but that doesnt prevent us from using some ourself does it?
But you have a point it could be a bit akward to use the enemies weapon.
You would need a proper introduction of the weapon to the game, with back ground and all. Luckely we have cid on our side (if he is still alive xD)
3 Scenarios:
Scenario A: We form a loose alliance with Garlemald until we deal with the Bahamut threat. As a result, Garlemald gives us some of their tech (IE gunblades).
Scenario B: Cid develops some form of a Gunblade for use. He's a Garlean after all.
Scenario C: Someone cleans up the battlefield and takes all the gunblades from fallen Garleans and trains us how to use them.
As far as how exactly they'll play out? Make it a hybrid of Gladiator and Archer. Have 2 modes: melee and ranged with different abilities for each. ARC abilities can be used for gun mode, Gladiator can be used for the melee mode.
Course, this Armoury system throws a wrench into the plans.
I would think this would come out with the Muskateer class!
While seeing a Muskateer with a Gunblade might be odd. It seems like an excellent tie in.
Maybe they will only make certain smaller gunblades for Muskateer while the other kinds would be for other classes.
I'd like to see these as well.
Apologies for doing a necro on this thread... but I thoroughly like this idea (I've also been a fan of the gunblade from FFVIII)... plus, Lucke's speculations on the three possible scenarios sounded interesting.
I've been eagerly looking forward to how Ninja, Samurai and Muskeeteer will turn out if they are implemented... and if the gunblade style of weapon can eventually become the AF for the musketeer class, that would be great.

I love gunblades! Let's see it. I wonder what class/job would come with the gunblade...
I could see it as a Dark Knight Weapon. Since it's a Garlean weapon, weapon of the enemy. I could see Gauis as kind of a Dark Knight in a way. Learning the enemies power has it's advantages. So when we start using his weapon come his class and job also of the dark knight.
It might be an interesting spin on things.
Now that you mention it Vale, I think you might be on to something here... this may very well place a curve ball spin on things.
The prophesy that Yoshi gave us on new Years day hints that we will likely have to choose a side (light or might) and perhaps if you chose the Might (Gaius?) you basically switch to the "dark side"... thus, could it be that eventually (maybe in later expansions) this is how the Dark Knight advance job unfolds?
And then... (just wildly speculating here)...the AF relic weapon is Gaius' gunblade? Or something similar?
This could very well turn out to be something spiffy indeed...
