I believe we're going forward in time.
Crisis averted.
Forwards
Not backwards, forwards
Well we're also not really being sent forward in time directly. It's more like we're being sent away to some aetherial rift and we won't return until the start of 2.0. No actual time travel is really involved.
We will be placed into a place outside of time, but we will be travelling into the future at a rate of one second per second. Then when everything is gravy again, we'll get pulled back into Eorzea.
We have been put into an Aethereal (sp?) rift, and we will return to Eorzea when it is safe, which will be 5 years in the future, not past.
yeah its more like the twelve put us away in an "aetherite coma" inside the aetherstream and wake us after 5 years
In another time and place. Scattered all over Space. We got to find them all, Gotta find those Dragon Balls!
So we're basically pulling a Cloud/Sephiroth and being dropped into the planet's energy source where we're going to chill till everything blows over?
At least I hope we don't get woken up by this dude after the 5 years are up

Rise and shine [insert character name here], rise and shine...
This guy will instead wake you up.

Well, if we're on the debate of who we'd want to wake us up, I'll settle for this lady.

Still... it does pose the question; Just what happened to Bahamut after the events of Dalamud's fall?
With the little destruction taken by Gridania, as seen in the Alpha video released... (and leaks, if you're into that kind of thing), we can at least be sure of this; The damage to Gridania was not severe enough to break the stained glass window in the Adventurer's guild.
If you ask me, Limsa got the worst deal of the cities. They got a whole spotlight where they get totalled, so we'll have to wait and see how underwater they are.
More importantly; whatever the hell defeated Bahamut in the 5 years until ARR comes out...
I bloody hope it's on our side.
so wait wait wait wait. bahumut pretty thouroughly pwned every inch of eorzea, and is still running free. how does he get re-sealed. so that we can re build..... im sensing massive plotholes.
I would imagine when we awake, Bahamut is still running loose.
I'm going to think of Bahamut's behavior like a penned up dog. he had all this pent up energy that he needed to burn off. He had fun, destroyed everything in the process, but now has settled down.
It's a lot of work to destroy the entire planet constantly. I'm sure he found a corner of the world to call his own and settled down. And like Elets said.
He's just chillin for the next person to challenge him or step on his territory. He may possibly be a public event where he comes out occasionally to raid and pillage areas farther from his domain for fun. This is where "the adventurers" probably need to protect our city states once we are back in ARR. :DQuote:

We still don't know why the Allagans imprisoned Bahamut in the first place. I've been pondering if it had been out of fear. The Allagan's were an extremely advanced race so my thought is it had to be out of fear. Fear that Bahamut would be the only being possible to usher in a new umbral era. So they cast him into space. If true, that obviously was false because they died out.
Bahamut isn't going to run around and destroy stuff for any reason, so in the five years leading up to A Realm Reborn he probably went back to his lair and is chilling out, drinking some cow blood, watching the olympic eorzean games on his 250" magic tv. He'll defend himself if people come along, but I don't think he was re-imprisoned.
Of course this is just how I see it. However it is entirely possible Bahamut is the evil ass primal and was a threat to the world so Allags had to banish him.
We've been put into the planets lifestream.
Maybe he just left... and went home? Why does he need to stay in Eorzea?
If somehow we can defeat Bahamut in the new version it will be disappointing (For me at least.) How that if at most an alliance of 24 players could defeat the Wyrm king after he had destroyed everything. I am hoping that Bahamut casted his Mega Flare attack, left the area, and all that we are stuck with is the Garlean Empire. That is who the real enemy is.
Look at history. Bahamut is tameable... as are all aeons, and can be defeated. I think the Allagans used him as the power source for Dalmud... probably in a crystal. He is only super powerful when you are relatively weak.Looking at FFX: "Bahamut possesses the auto-ability Break Damage Barrier. This enables its attacks to exceed 9999 HP damage right from the start. Bahamut has high strength, Defense and Magic attributes. Bahamut's regular attack causes more damage than any other aeon's. Bahamut can also cast the highest elemental black magic spells." As awesome as Bahamut sounds.... remember when you summonned him he rarely could take out a major boss without a lot of help.
question is, why we "adventurers" put in that aetherial? cant we just hit "return"?
So... where's the confirmation that we weren't sent directly to the future and that we're simply in some sorta frozen state outside of time?
From all I've read it could be either/or. Everyone is acting as if there's something that says one way or the other 100%. I'm curious as to why.
I thought this was a fairly firm confirmation that we were sent to a Aetherial rift to be brought back at a "Undetermined" time when all was safe. It even says in the future...

'cause, there's no functional difference between being untouched by time and emerging 5 years later and simply being sent directly 5 years into the future.
So, can someone explain to me how this is any different than time travel into the future based on what is written there?
When you go to bed at night and wake up in the morning do you feel that is time travel? I mean you go to sleep at midnight and you wake up and its suddenly 6AM... did you travel through time or were you just in an unconscious state of being that makes the time between going to sleep and waking up seem instantish? Being in stasis for 5 years is still waiting for 5 years, prior to waking up and being again. It doesn't really matter anyway its a simply semantics argument but in my estimation its like sleeping... and not time travel.
I like to call it a literal time skip.
The adventurers are literally skipping 5 years time.
Also, Fairy Tail.
"untouched by the seasons" the seasons after Behe attacked woulda been hell
think its like when u sleep in a bedroom and some sort of monster shows up, someone carries u out of the room and u remain asleep till hes gone then puts you back in there, dont think its time travel, more like passing time till everythings alright in your "room"
think thats what it is but i dunno
i think i just like this sleeping idea lol XD
Who's to say we don't age though? Not like our characters have specific ages, so for all we know we COULD be 5 years older.
