About ARR release.

Well i just wanted to see what people think about this.
They said Beta was gonna come end of January early Febuary
which i'm thinking means (correct me if i'm wrong) that ARR will come around summer
somewhere in June.
Won't people loose all interrest in the game or go to other games
if ARR comes in like 5~6 months from now???
I'm just saying, 5~6 months is just too much with such a big
MMORPG market out there.

Majority of us feels the same way that 5-6 months is a very long wait.
Personally I hope ARR is release late late January and early February 2013. March being highly likely.

In a perfect world without any problems during alpha and beta, it be nice to have ARR release late January 2013.

We have alpha/beta and at some point during the beta they could allow us to use our current char in the beta if FFXIV ARR going to have a late Q2 or early Q3 release.

All i wanna say is 5 months is just too long...

I'm just saying.

i'll remember you when they'll release the game earlier and fault again because was buggy and with crappy gameplay because they releaseed too soon. Just like this version

Our playerbase is small to begin with, not that it matters if everyone that currently plays quits it. If ARR become a massive success can always make new friends with a world that have 5-10x more than current population.

ARR will be ready when it's ready, for me i dont really care when the release date is.

guess you did not read my post where they could allow us to use our current char in the beta if the game would be release Late Q2 early Q3. Everything we do in the beta would be carry over to release and we can just play as normal and test the game for SE they could do something like that if it going to be a big delay.

If they screw up this time, it's game over. I will wait as long as possible until they (Square Enix) decide the game is perfect. Not ok, not good, not great, but perfect.

Yeah that's not how stuff works.

The beta phase could take three weeks it could take nine months.

It all depends on their progress and how their playerbase feels about things. They also said they're over 2 months behind.

I know I'll be there for ARR, whenever that is, and so are my friends. If you do care for this game and friends and progress you've done, I don't see why you wouldn't log back in at re-launch. It might be a long wait, but needless to say, we saw how great the rushed original launch was. I'd much rather wait if that means that the game won't be requiring lots of patches and fixing.

Going through the Live Letter IV questions and answers...they said this week there will be no alpha testing to fix an issue with the severe lag when 800+ characters are in the same area. So now the testing is yet another week behind.

How is alpha a week behind? it going to take amount of time to fix each phase before they start a new one so it's not behind there just fixing issue. You think they can start the next testing without adding new stuff and fixing issue the players found? i mean that the point of the alpha/beta to start with lol.

The game is never going to be perfect.
Perfect is not achievable state - there will always be something wrong that needs to be tweaked and something that a certain group of people wont like.

In my opinnion 5 months is quite long considering what we have seen so far looks already pretty "ready" so to speak.
I doubt they will have 5 months for BETA, I am thinking maybe 1-2 months of BETA max and then release. So I think the game will be out April-May time the latest.

So lol that the point of Alpha to find and fix issue it still not behind. Look at what happen to the other alpha and beta we did -.- soon we log on beta they had to stop it to like 3rd week where it was good enough for us to play. So i don't care how long it take as long as they get everything working.

You can't really put a date on when new alpha would start or when would beta start there really is not delay as long as they find the issue and fix it then it doing fine we get too play soon enough.

I myself don't mind if it takes 5 months tbh. i have stuff to do. however knowing people i know not even half of them will stay...

Theres a ton of other games out there and if they star5t today and make a good progress in 5 months its gonna be hard to quit it.

Shhhh I'm aware of the technicalities. I don't really mean perfect in the literal sense. I mean when Square Enix can sit down together and agree as a team that the game is a masterpiece and they have achieved what they wanted to do for a released product, and that absolutely nothing about it was half-assed. Everything received due effort, everything was addressed, and there's enough to keep players happy and meet most expectations.

Then and only then should the game be released.

I trush in Yoshi-p's judgement on release >.> I've been waiting for 2 years I can wait a bit more... patience is a virtue o.o

Anyways, I just dont understand why end this ver. knowing that you will release the next one 5 months later. people still had shit to do in 1.0, could have let this one run for like another 4 months. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

I think it is up to them to keep us on hype for ARR. IMHO, they should:

- release a timetable of events/conditions to be met before launch and update it often (remember the table of new patch content in every letter from producer? same thing);

- release a timetable of content planned for release and check when content has been confirmed;

- release a weekly letter from producer with news on ongoing tests, some new screens and news about ARR (i.e. details on Free Companies, Housing, Crafting/Gathering classes, Combat System, etc...);

- release a new video of game-play every week;

- (possibly) release a table of content planned for after release of ARR in subsequent patches/expansions (SMN job, new mounts, new dungeons, etc...). Same as the one inside old producer letters.

Would be nice but I'd rather Yoshi-p devote more time to the development of the game itself. We don't need weekly videos or updates. I'd be fine with a small monthly update, or maybe even a small forum post letting us know things are running smoothly.

Because converting all your ver 1 files to 2.0 would take over 1-2months, And like i said many time in this topic they could allow us to play our current char in the beta and everything we do is carry over to release. So that could be a reason why there doing it if not then just to give them enough time to do so.

Game could come out tomorrow or in 5 years it wont matter.

You might loose interest and go to another game, doesn't really matter that could happen anyway.

New players with no interest now might go back to it, they've not waited a single second, its new to them even if its out in 5 years.

Returning players who left in 2010 wont care because they just check it out when its out, been 2yrs for them.

Only people hurt are the current players who really want it badly, and if you are a good enough fan you will not mind waiting for a polished product that will please those who have not been waiting at all.

This! Two years ago they did all of this for 1.xx and 2.0 and they stuck to it much better than I expected. I am not disappointed or surprised that they are 2 months behind. 2 months behind after 2 years is about what I'd expect for a software project of this size. What has irked me is their willingness to admit this and present new and updated plans. This makes me think that they know we will be disappointed and are therefore holding back as long as possible in the hope of either having better news or when they have to inform us.

but they could use marketing team staff to do this, not development team.

I am almost certain they have said this will not happen but I would be all for it. The current player base is so far ahead of new players that giving us access a few months earlier would make no difference unless there was some major exploit in the beta.

The point is just to allow us to play if there a big delay. seeing how they be worlds that only new players can join so that fix that issue also.

Just saw something on my S-E account, my end date for my character is set to Mar. 31, 2013.

I would appreciate to die distracting myself on my favorite game, when the world comes to a real end on the 21st of December . . .

SE needs to be careful. First people payed for a game and placed trust in them. It was a mess (even if it got much better towards the end). So it was back to the drawing board.

Those of us who purchased the LE, and stuck through paid subscriptions, want to be able to play the game we invested in. I highly doubt they will have people waiting to January. We already lost people to GW2 in our linkshell that are going to play rift as well because of the possible wait.

Giving us a month to make up for the additional months we have to wait is nothing big. People get a month when they purchase the new version of the game.

They need to move current players into the beta fast. Since essentially we have beta tested for 2 years

I think and hope that players who want to play Final Fantasy do not have a problem with other MMORPGs :D

AND FFXIV was no beta test. Some of us really enjoyed the game.

I don't think it matters how long it takes, many if not all of us would still play it when it eventually releases. We all say players might lose interest or move on to other games but all it will take is another epic trailer to generate interest again. I think Square know this, they really don't give a damn how long they make us wait.

Those that want ARR to be release on January ~ February. Please think back what happen to the current FFXIV launched, and why Yoshi says it will be delayed, is best to wait until YoshiP says the go for the launch of ARR.

Many of us will play but the interest base has plummeted. I enjoyed XIV as it progressed, others were not so impressed and loyal.

Hopefully they will return from Free to play games (Gw2 ect) or other large MMo's.

The one thing SE has for them is story. Which to me has always surpassed other mmo's.

I feel ARR will change other gamers minds, if they are at this point willing to give it a chance. Media will play a roll in hat.

It's funny though because I doubt any of us would really care if ARR released with a few issues it would still be so much better than 1.0. The media however is a different story, especially since everyone just loves to hate on FF, this game still wont ever see scores of 9 or 10, no matter how good it is.

Considering the only reason alot of the playerbase still played was to stick it out and make character progression until 2.0 came out, there will probably be a very small amount of people that just don't come back because the wait is too long. The only people who would not atleast log in to check out a realm reborn will be the ones who do not have alot of time invested in the game already.

March/April release would be ok. Anything past May is just ridiculous - too long of a wait. They should have kept the 1.0 servers live longer if they were going to wait that long.
