Dramatic character deaths....possibly.

For those of you who read the Bleach manga, they recently spent a couple chapters building up the death of a very well liked character named Kuchiki Byakuya. They gave him what was universally accepted as a "good, dramatic end."

In a recent chapter, it was recently discovered that he is still alive despite the absurd wounds he obtained. I felt this was a huge mistake. All the drama, all the built up emotion, all the chapter space, wasted.

Now, what relevance does this have to XIV?

Louisoix.

Please, for the love of the Twelve, let him be dead.
Like....Aeris dead.

He had such an emotional and amazing end in the eyes of the players. It was a wonderfully planned and executed scene that tugged the hearts of all players and even did the possible and united the forums, if only for a brief moment.

You've given him this monumental, built up death scene. Please let it be so, and let it be a rallying cry for us in 2.0!

I raised this issue in another thread...but what about Cid and the three leaders? I know we worked with Louisoix personally a lot and he was a heavy hand guiding the nations to being saved from Garleans/Dalamud but these people headed the war efforts of our states, should we not worry about them too?

But also on topic...who knows, he might come back as a spirit or something...there's always that.

A short-term Force Ghost would be acceptable. And I'm sure the GC leaders and Cid survived.

The way it "feels" to me is that Louixoix was very important, but that this death scene was a necessary part of his character.

The others, Cid, Marlyboob, Kansascity and Rubon are all integral to the continuation of the plot.

Wait, Aeris dies?!

Using 'the echo' to discover more about Louisoix would be acceptable. Or, as others have said, he could come back to us and communicate in spirit form... OR, if he is an archon of the twelve, the essence of the god he represented could become incarnated inside another living being, either someone born or already alive.

They weren't very close to Dalamud and we didn't see any of them die or get harmed.


@OP I agree completely and Bleach isn't the only anime to do such a thing (not saying you think it's the only btw). There are many examples where there was a dramatic death of an important character and they just "miraculously" came back and it's always distasteful. Two well known examples of this was the comic following "The Death of Superman" had superman back to life after a very emotional death with the simple explanation that he was only "mostly dead" and the bringing back of Goku in DBZ after the Cell Saga when he was meant to remain dead forever (executive meddling had them bring him back again).
If they bring him back unharmed it will just go down as a cheap yank at our emotions. (Discrediting the speculation that he's the king of primals/summons or whatever new theories people have come up with of late.)

Gotta agree, let him die. The worst part of FF13 was when everyone thinks a character committed suicide and then twenty minutes later returns after a very touching scene. It just leaves a horrible taste in your mouth.

Not particularly attached to Louisoix. He can stay dead.

Aeris was different, she was a playable character so in terms of attachment value, they are worlds apart.

It seems somewhat hard to tell perspective and such, at least to me anyways. I mean he was held to be military tactician so I would think he'd want to be near them for communications sake...that and watching Bahamut move from La Noscea back to Mor Dhona in what seemed like an instant was ridiculous. But again editing/movie perspective time really mess with basic explanations. MY NERDINESS IS INTERFERING WITH MY GEEKINESS. SMURFS ARE MAMMALS PAPA SMURF HAS A BEARD. Sorry, I think I got broken for a sec....

To be honest though I'm cool either way with him being dead or alive. If he's dead, we mourn his loss and powerful sacrifice to save us and Eorzea. If he lives, we shall work with him to make the world a better and stronger place. Either way, we win.

It is possible that Louissiosox also sent the leaders and Cid through time, but I like the idea of the leaders being killed, leaving the Grand Companies with a choice of keeping up with the truce that their dead leaders made (offering a good premise for the war between the companies and the subsequent PVP)

Actually yes about the ghost but then 100% no at the same time..

He was a smart Guy, It would be really good, ( and simple i think ) to add in a "huge" Echo based story that he had been setting up since we met him, just so if something went wrong he could still help us all..

Conversations actually aimed at the adventurers to guide them to important places, relics, 1/2 the stuff he could mention wont make sense till the time comes/he speaks to us again kinda thing... (for the 1st mini expansion or so.. :D)
Keeps an Epic death as it should be but also keeps him in the game for a while (id totally not want this in beta though), I can think of more ways to do it but meh.. that's the basic idea

As for the other leaders, I'm guessing they are safe too, otherwise were not either :P
An we don't know what that spell or thing was, so no saying we would all come out of it at the same time.

I was never real attached to him, and he smiled at the end which makes his death pretty touching. It'd be weird if he came back somehow. He should at BEST be in spirit on the aether or something and intervene to help you once or something. Nothing too weird though. But I think his heroism should be remembered by NPCs, and there should be maybe like a quest to pay respects.

I agree with this. Watched an anime recently that had a HUGE set up for the "death" of a character, and it was all very well done and touching. Then credits roll, come back to main character, previously "dead" character pops up and says, "Oh, lol, guess not."

I raged. Louisoix died a good death. Let him stay that way. Bringing him back will cheapen the entire final event.

I would agree with this thread.

He needs to be dead.

I would, however, love to see the generals back. I would also like to see the 4...I can't think of the proper name they had, but the ones who were praying at the altars. I would like to see them back as well, but I'm not so sure...

Yoshi-P did remark that we'd find out why Bahamut was trapped...who is going to tell us if not them?

Wht if he never actually died. . . . We see him vanish in a white light. For all we know, he could've "ported" into the future with the rest of us in the last second, waiting to be discovered all wounded or otherwise changed by us in a GC quest line. . . . Maybe he wasn't smiling cause he was accepting death, but rather cause he knew cause everything's gonna be ok in ARR >_> Louisoix's thought bubble: {Oh Bahamut, I tricked you, lol} :p

I dunno, but I wouldn't be surprised if SE led us to think he was dead during the transition to ARR, while in fact they've been sneaky and keeping him alive in secret :U

I imagine if they brought anything to do with Louisoix, it'll be some sort of ambiguous legacy and maybe have something about the Allagan Empire?

Probably just a side quest that most new players wouldn't care too much about :P

I hope he stays dead, his barrier sucked.
