Anyone know how much downtime there is going to be before ARR is out? 5, 7, 10 months ?
The only and most accurate answer: No one knows.
Too long >.>
I'm not done playing! lol
Q1 was the goal release so.. 5 seems what they want, 7 is what might happen and 10 fkin sucks.
There is a rumor ARR will release in July. I am really hoping that isn't true, that is a long time to have no game at all.
July? That can't be true :/ The game is in alpha phase after all..
Rough guess? Jan-Feb next year. Depending how beta goes. But as said above - no one really knows..
Anywhere from 3-5months but we get to play beta at least :)
Till July 2013 or later. People told them to take as long as they want and need to make it get right and Yoshida agrees, so.
There's no definite answer as no information has been given, but educated guesses would place it's release around March at the absolute earliest
SE is not insane. If the release gets delayed until July or even December 2015, SE will let us play the in progress apha/beta after maybe a month or two of the v1 servers going down.
Looking at their timeline, I don't really think July 2013 is what they're aiming for. Taking time is one thing, but we're already in alpha. Beta will soon follow and then release. They will take time to get it right, but I don't believe they need until July 13 to do that and I don't think they believe that either. Recall that it's not like they were not working on ARR while we were still playing 1.0.....
SE said early 2013, so early 2013, don't be like the group that begs SE to be like blizzard
People are expecting Jan-March but also stated SE should take as long as they need but think July is too long lol. SE has no real aim..same deal with Seeker's of Adoulin for XI just simply "2013"..but as we seen, even after all of the work we see there's still a long way to go, since there's almost no reason for them to give us shell versions for testing if they're a lot further along.
Remember how we should be beta testing right now, and Alpha should have completed a month ago so that should tell you they aren't following that timeline anymore. Also, the only reason march is brought up is due to them hoping to have things completed by March 2013, not the game itself. The latest official word from SE is "Coming 2013" per their more recent newsletters, but there's a rumor about July 2013, which is very likely as pretty much everything SE has done has gotten delayed outside of natural disasters, so it's safe to say even if they aimed for March, it likely got pushed back since the alpha itself got pushed back from "end of september to early october" to November.
I could have sworn during the special talk session Yoshi-P mentioned January.
It will be down until ARR comes up.
/endthread
(**Note: The release date has not been officially released by SE, so any dates given in this thread other than directly from SE will be speculation. :o)
(Offtopic) I see hehe.
Yoshi may have stated Q1 2013, but again this isn't a definitive date. My first post was made to state that if people are giving out dates that are not align to anything SE has put out, then they are again just speculation.
http://support.na.square-enix.com/fa...so=4&q=releaseQuote:
The release date is planned for after January 2013.
An announcement will be made on the official website once an exact date is confirmed.
Do you guys remember when this forum was FULL of people with MLP user names?
im still sticking to end of january
At this point i don't care if say it coming Sep 30 2013 as long as i get to play beta to pass the time and they make 2.0 a great game they can take all the time they need.
No one knows, Yoshi-P has said he will not release the game until it is ready, he has learned from Tanaka's mistake and it will not be rushed out.
His last letter said the alpha is going well so I hope it won't be too long, I would say Feb-March next year, but even for a proper estimate we would at least need to play the alpha/beta to see where it is.
I remember the community rep called it a "really off the wall rumor" before he locked the thread in the face of the naive people that believed it.
And yeah, it was. It didn't hold a shred of the realism, not because of the release date, but for the rest of its contents.
Why would one believe a rumor started by a random polish dude on twitter, it's beyond me.
Simply enough, those that throw out a date (early or late) are taking about nothing else than their baseless assumptions or spreading blatantly false rumors without a shred of credibility.
1.0's time from alpha to launch was 5-6 months, so expect something like that
They would need to move current players into beta fairly fast, and release fast. Paying full retail for a game, then monthly after the free period, means continued support would have to be given and not cut gamers off too long.
To those who said It's for July 2013 or after: LINK
It should be clear that the july date was just a rumor.
Yoshi said that the date depends on how the beta is doing.
They can't make a date if the beta haven't started yet.
Why would they need to do it "fast"?
Do you know anything about the game industry? Developers make dates all the time before even Alpha of games both online and offline, they just don't always make it public until their sure. He said the game will be out when he feels it's ready, but when you look back by patches, he as a nasty habit of delaying everything and there's still issues with them, and this is ignoring the earthquake and tsunami situation.
Btw, SE delays everything, testing for ARR was even delayed.
Spring at the earliest (march - may ) .. but i believe it will be out in summer as the last rumor said (july)...
Give them all the time they need to make a good game this time.
I have to quote GW2 devs in this occasion.
Fans: When GW2 will be out?
GW2 Team: When it is ready.
There called unforeseen problems, they happen all the time, especially in software development. Look at some software that was released on time, after having a public release date for months (I have 3 off the top of my head)
FFXIV 1.0, We all know what happened there, I don't need to explain again I don't think
iOS6, The main problem was the maps application, it had problems that were blatantly obvious, unless I haven't known we now live under the sea.
Windows 8, There have been some complaints about it, the main one is no notification center (see Android and iOS notification bar) you get a notification, miss it and if your app doesn't have a live tile you will not know you have said notification until you open it (I'm expected to open every app on my phone just to see if anything has happened every time I leave it?)
These are just a few examples I have read about or experienced recently, all of these should have been delayed until these bugs were squashed or features coded (Microsoft said they were going to put a notification center in Windows 8, but didn't have time.)
Delays are much better than huge bugs and missing features.
my guess is, since alpha is moving smoothly, beta will start at the end of november or start of december.
The beta will probably take 3-4 months IF nothing goes terribly wrong. i dont think it will take much longer at least i hope so.
At the end SE is a company thatwants to make a profit, so time is money. Of course they dont want the same disaster as with 1.0 but that doesnt mean the higher ups are not running around with whips, whipping the hell out of the dev team^^
It is what it is.. a rumour. Do you believe in rumour's? I have one for you.. 21.12.2012 Planet X will crash into Planet Earth. Same hilarious bullshit, made up by someone.
Actually you dont need to quote GW2 for that, Yoshi said the exact same thing. They will release ARR when they feel it is ready.
Just funny thought, but if they took team members from versus XIII to work on ARR (as the rumor suggests) we definitely won't be seeing it early. Look how long it's taken them to work on their own game.....that has seen 2 games released that were being developed at the same time. I'm hoping it doesn't take until late next year, but if that's who is working on it I wouldn't be surprised.
All FF games have long development cycles for whatever reason, and while true earlier this year Wada stated all of their in production games have been pushed back by a year or two due to ARR's revamp, I don't think it's necessarily the dev team.
