There will be a special mini-game each time you want to open a door.
You will need to parley with the door for it to open the right way.

I did react to those too. Not only do they open the wrong way but there seemed to be quite a few of them that served absolutely no practical purpose.
I kinda went "oh?" when I saw that but honestly it's not really serious, could be something that will be fixed in the later builds, especially if it's just client side.
Definitely - and in like 2 seconds lol. 180 flip. Not something to rage about but I hope someone in alpha that made a little comment about it, little things add up. Having no little things to add up - that's excellence (which takes painful scrutiny).

I'll admit that it made me cringe a little as well when I saw it. But then I was like "meh" not like that's the most important aspect of the game.
We're complaining about how doors open now? Wow (no not world of warcraft, relax) if the dev team worked on everything people complain about on this forum the game would never come out in our lifetime.

I suppose if they are single hinged one direction, but that particular design type is infamous for being bidirectional. Also its best to be so as the clipping will be reduced.
That being said, perhaps in that era cool hinges are not common lol. But now days at least where I live the only doors that go one way are the doors meant to keep something out (of that particular type) - and for this case the doors swing towards you which means they wanted to keep what is in out and what is out in - perhaps for children or small animals (same thing? :P)? Could be logic there I guess.
(No handle of any sort means is most likely a bi-push door, and it looks like a garden variety which can swing either or)

I don't think people are understanding. We are meant to give feedback, no matter how minor it may seem. Don't we all want this game to be as great as it can be? Sure, the direction that the gates open is a very minor thing, however, it's these very minor things that go a long way to show that the dev team really put a lot of care into designing the game. These things are often even pointed out in reviews. Like that saying, it's the little things that count too. Things like the sound of birds chirping in the background, etc. I immediately noticed that the gate swings open the wrong way and clips through the character. It IS minor, though I would call it a design flaw, no matter how minor.

Yard/property gates most often than not did not swing both ways where I grew up in Romania. It's an architectural choice. Is it really that hard to imagine that gates don't swing both ways?
The little things often make or break an MMO for me. This wasn't really a serious thread, I made it because I laughed at the grass issue that people were talking about when we first saw 2.0. But still, I wouldn't mind the doors actually opening the way you're going. This stuff isn't as important as major aspects of the game but attention should still be given to the general style of it.
Basically the less of those things that remind you you're playing a video game the better. One common thing that bugs me in MMO's is the clipping that happens when you have a sword on your back and it goes through your cape or tail or whatever. I saw parts of miqotes tails sticking out going through their robe. Why not just disable tails when they're wearing robes?
Not huge issues but the little things do make a difference.
Edited "make or break a game for me" to "make or break an MMO". I think MMO's have to pay more attention at that stuff than shooting games because an MMO is supposed to make you want to live in that world and participate in its events, getting involved in that universe.
If you can't imagine how a gate or door can be made so that it only swings one way, and are seriously whining over the fact that gates in-game only swing one way, you probably need to get out of the house more.
Who are you? I work hot ass construction days mon - fri. Paintball on the weekends. That's more time outside than I even want. You don't know me hoe. I like my MMO's to look good because I don't have the desire to spend the few hours I have playing a game that doesn't have proper doors and grass.
Okay I'm kidding about that last bit. Anyway, my house is going to have dual swinging doors.
