I'm hoping that in ARR either:
A) We'll be able to turn off the Chocobo theme
B) The Chocobo theme will fade out after a while ala FFXI
and my personal favourite:
C) The Chocobo theme will change depending on the area we're in.
If we're on the beaches of La Noscea we get something tropical.
If we're in the forests of the Black Shroud we'll get something calm (maybe something a bit more fast paced).
If we're in an empire controlled area, we'd get something a bit electronic.
If we're cruising around the Deserts of Thanalan we could get something a bit desolate.
I love the Chocobo theme, but I really think that the XIV version is tired. I'd enjoy hearing different iterations of the theme, it's a pretty traditional FF trope to change the Chocobo theme subtly to suit the games theme.

I like how in FFXI after riding your chocobo for so long that the music will eventually fade out and the background music for whatever area you're in would start playing. Of course with aetheryte teleports and stuff, people typically aren't on chocoback for more than 5 minutes at a time, so it kind of defeats the purpose unless it's intended for us to go longer distances on our chocobos.

I second wanting to turn it off. As nice as it is, it'd be a shame to miss out how this new ambient soundtrack works in the field if the music is blaring constantly.

I just don't want it to loop, like FF XI. I do want normal environment music to loop though, so I really hope I don't have to keep disabling the music every time I mount my chocobo.

Shifting themes would be nice yes... however my vote goes to the OFF button. orrr a single playthrough then back to the environment theme pleasssse! I want to enjoy the environment music, but also end up muting my volume (XI included) as soon as the Chocobo Fanfare gets old.

Yeah I think I'd like the shifting themes, and then I'd probably turn it off for a while.

Exactly.. It's nice to hear once in a while as it's a very iconic theme, the problem with the MMO side is you are always going to want to travel fast, and mounts are for this reason, however you also want to run through and hear the various environment themes playing if you are doing any sort of longer distance. I would really hate to have to run by foot just because I want to hear the environment music when changing areas.

This finale event is a good example of the mount theme being intrusive and immersion breaking.
I want to hear the distorted answers, yet if I want to get somewhere I need to chocobo.
It's irritating to have this huge meteor, lightning crashing in the sky and then a super upbeat cheery theme to go with it. -

From what I remember, it just looped but had sections where the theme slowed down and was more mellow. The chocobo theme in FFXIV is horribly obnoxious and overbearing. I prefer the mellow one from XI.

I enjoy exploring a lot and since they gave us chocobos I play with music turned off. I like the chocobo theme, but I don't like listening to it over and over again. So yeah, I'd like an on/off button.
