During this year's summer event, my friends and I formed a line in Ul'dah and began to do the fire dance in the middle of town in syncronization. (Led by my /countdown). Soon enough, as people saw us doing it, they joined in! Not only did friends of ours jump in, complete strangers did! It was pretty cool seeing the server come together to form a giant wall of dancing adventurers.

Sweet Morbol Revenge

Taken from this diary post so long ago. After months of my first sighting a Morbol in game, and having been eaten alive several times; I now had finally been strong enough and had enough strong friends to take them down.

This was one of the highlights of my experience playing FFXIV. I had first to convince the rest of my linkshell that killing morbols would be awesome, then scout out a cool location to take them. And so I did, and we kill quite a few.

Over the course of my time with FFXIV my linkshell had gotten smaller and smaller, until almost all of them had jumped ship before dealing with the impending impact of Dalamud. Thankfully I was still able to team up with some random people to complete the Seventh Umbral Era content. This is a hastily PrintScrn'd shot I grabbed between Van Darnus's attacks:

This is the first linkshell event that I was apart of. We were hunting Van Darnus. Even though we never did manage to beat him, it was by far the most fun I've had since I started FFXIV. We are all a goofy bunch of people, but for some reason when we all get together everything we do just seems more exciting. For me, this is by far the best memory I have of playing and it is something I'll always cherish about this game.

Sure, completing a relic was an accomplishment on it's own. However, I joined a last minute Japanese Ifrit Extreme shout with 2 other LS members (therefore the party consisted of 5 JP players and 3 English speaking players). The JP leader wasn't too happy about 3 foreigners joining the party. Despite that initial concern, we won the fight on the 3rd attempt. The Japanese and English players in the party didn't need to communicate throughout the fight (with the exception of assigning nails in the beginning of the party). The language barrier was clearly not an issue. Why? Because we all knew the strategy for Ifrit Extreme beforehand. That is what got everyone their last minute win for a relic.

By the way, this same party got a no-death Garuda win afterwards. Again, the language barrier was not an issue. We all knew the strategy to Garuda beforehand.

I'm sharing this story to 1) prove that the language barrier was not an issue *as long as the player knew the strategy beforehand* and 2) to tell the people in charge (whether it be SE in general, YoshiP, or even the GM's) that they should have addressed this issue better in-game. I, just like many others I'm sure, would have loved to play with the Japanese player base more often. Unfortunately, most of the time we could not because a majority of the Japanese player base (at least on my server, Durandal) would take the easy route and say "JP only."

On the bright side, not every single Japanese player was so close minded. I've even seen a few Japanese players that attempted to speak English! I will definitely miss playing with those people. And assuming regional servers divide the player base by region, the Ifrit Extreme party I described above will be one of the last times (if not the last) that I get to team up with the Japanese player base. What a shame. Then again, maybe it's for the best.

My duo partner since launch and I exploring the dangerous areas of Coerthas for the first time. We wanted to see all of the old world before it was changed forever. This place was right before an aether point, and the view of the valley was amazing so we took some pictures there.

In FFXI, one of the most exciting and stimulating experiences I had as a new player was sneaking around aggressive mobs that could kill you in one hit to explore new areas. Going around the higher-end areas of Coerthas and the other zones with my friend really brought that thrilling aspect back to me, and made me wish I could see what these areas were originally meant for.

As we bid these dangerous, once-foreboding areas of current Eorzea farewell, we also look forward to seeing how the new world and new vision for the game will transform these dangerous, lonely landscapes.

Alright, this isn't something epic like "When I got my artifact body with a bunch of strangers and a few /l members" or anything. This is old. This is back when we had Thaumaturge and Conjurer and not half of conjurer on one class, half of conjurer on another and no more thaumaturge.

This is my gang, my IRL people with our Hydaelyn forms. L-R is Sophie Renna, my fellow marauder, myself, Yazuaru Exhillion as thaum and our brother Fannar Veturson as pug.

I stumbled into Mor Dhona solo some time earlier, found my sea-dog brother had done the same, so we brought Soph and Yazu to enjoy the awesomeness which was what became my favorite spot of land on Eorzea. It was during this outing, dodging every foe, sneaking about like stealthy people, using the occasional raise all but our anti-magic Sophie had we made it to a place where The Keeper of the Lake stood behind us. Which the sun shone upon it, Fannar came to the realization, "I think that's the ship and the dragon from the opening movie!"

Again, old-school, and one of, if not my favorite memory of putting foot to Eorzea.

Saying goodbye before the end. This screenshot is just one memory with my friends, but in it is summed up two years of adventures shared together. No matter what A Realm Reborn brings, the friendships and memories forged in the Sixth Astral Era will always hold a very special place in my heart.

Through all the things I've been through, all the places I have seen, all the monsters I have defeated, or the monsters that have defeated me; one thing has remained the same: the loyalty and friendship shared between me and my adventuring partners, Graham Rockwell and Vivily Noa. The three of us have been so much together since the early days and have stuck with each other even when others did something a different way. We stood by The Order of the Twin Adder even when The Immortal Flames was clearly the popular choice, and The Maelstrom had beautiful uniforms. We crafted for each other, repaired each others' gear when no one was around to lend a helping hand, battled the Primals, and explored the deepest crevices of each dungeon to obtain our Artifact Armor. But of all these moments we've shared, my best memories are the ones when Eorzea seems to be at peace and the three of us are able to roam around to explore and adventure freely. Thank you for all the good times, Graham & Vivily!

Two of my friends I've known since the launch of the game and still today. :)
We went to get Dragoon artifact armor on the day of the update that added it.


I had many more before this but I forgot to backup before I reformatted my computer some time ago. :(
I also can't properly take screenshots now because my new keyboard has Print Screen and Scroll Lock shared on the same key. Have to choose between one or the other and can't use both. Let us map all keys in 2.0 please!

Here is mine. Might not be anything exciting but that is exactly why I like this lol. I loooove the beach and the stars at night...and I think this captured the mood perfectly =D

It was also the night that I finally got my WHM Cane from Skirmish...I had been trying for a month xD good times :D

We quit for almost a year and a half. In the beginning there wasnt much to do but at least we were together. Ive been playing again for a month, Ill have to use raise III to get my irl friends back on here but ive already convinced a few. I look forward to rekindling the tingling feeling down my spine, rested from the Eorzea fatigue, revitalized for a Realm Reborn.
