Going back to FFXI

I bet I am not the only one going back to FFXI after the final event until we get more news/beta access or the release of ARR.

Is that a question, or a statement of fact?

Both. Just wanted to start a trhead about the people going back to XI in the meantime.

I quit ffxi 2years ago never to return i try to play it one time and i could not stand the battle system. A game that i play 6years for hours at end i could not stand it lol so ya i just be watching shows/movies.

If you didn't care you wouldn't have posted. I definitely am when Seeker's is out, prior to that most likely for a bit to finish up VW.

There is a difference between a response and caring. Caring would imply I have some feeling towards them leaving for ffxi.
Example: "Why would you leave for such a horrible game!?" or "AWESOME, ME TOO!"

I was just poking fun at the OP.

I'd like to, but It's just not the same game I enjoyed years ago.

By the way, I'm pretty sure this isn't an "I QUIT" thread. Dannythm's just wondering if anyone's going to play XI while XIV is down.

Exactly, since I can't stand any other MMO's in the market right now (pandas get old really quick, and all the others bore me to death), I thought of going back to XI, even if it's not the same game anymore, while I wait for ARR.

The game in your sig is FANTASTIC. I played it through earlier today.

On-topic: FFXI is only a shell of what it once was, and it's not really worth playing anymore.. Seekers might change that, but I highly doubt it.

I'll be playing Borderlands 2 until ARR releases. Quit XI last year after ~8 years, ya....that was a heavy weight to cut off my soul.

I went back to XI about like a year ago?
played for 2 months and quit again... . That game isn't what it used to be, first month i really got back into it, but i felt kinda wrong and sad that after 2 months of playing i already had 2 jobs on 99 all the subs i needed, and even though i found a linkshell early on that took me in and did endgame stuff, i wasn't feeling the spark again... .

GL though i hope you still enjoy it, it's still an ok game to timesink in

Sadly.. I tried playing FFXI yesterday.. and I started to feel sick.. the 30 FPS cap really makes my head hurt now.. I just don't see me going back.. I was surprised to see quite a few players I knew still playing when I walked around town though.

I'm actually just started FF11 yesterday. As weird as it sounds, I found no problem so far adapting. I do want to play this game for long time but haven't met the right timing. ;D

I'm @ bahamut server now, starting @ windurst as blm again, about same situation as when I start ff14. Please lemme know if any of you also there. :)

I genuinely enjoyed most of my time with xi.

How ever that time has passed. I feel that if i went back now i would be trying to relive the old days. I would be sorely disappointed.

Rolled a fresh character, DNC22 atm. Having fun.

tried it.. but cancelled it again.. hard to get back into.
haven't played it for five years~ i'll just wait for alpha/beta/2.0

I don't think I will ever play FF11 again even though it is still installed on my computer. The Abyssea expansion really killed the game for me. It used to be fun to work at getting a job to 75. Now it's just a mad rush to 99 and a painful grind to get the Abyssea relic gear. Abyssea killed just about every other expansion area which means also killing any chance of completing storylines for those expansions.

I'd rather play other MMOs I haven't played yet like Aion, Lineage II, LotR, etc.

Actually I just uninstalled XI.

Last year I took a break from XIV and played XI for a month (rerolled) got first job lvl 90 in 5 days with all the basic quests done (airship,rank,AF etc) ... while it was fun... the enjoyment and nostalgia of my old FFXI days was just not there... interesting to duo Dynamis and Prommies though...

I think the one thing that really made XI a solid game was the community and required teamwork, which you don't need these days it seems, or rather not as much... also AF3 is a spammy spam fest... like hamlet but only 1 mob over and over lol.

I think I'm gonna go pop onto FFXI during the XIV downtime for a bit to kill time and probably catch up and hangout with old friends if they are still playing. :)

I'll probly jump back into that game, Keithdragoon of Odin(Ifrit) if anyone needs help or anything.

On this matter, I never got to buy the abbysea expansions and the lat one for the mini scenarios, each one is 10€ so that'd be a total of 40€, but the complete pack is 20€ on steam... if I get the complete pack I guess I'll get the keys to register in my account, even if I'll waste the serials of the game and expansion I already have, right?

@A_Hortensia With book burns and FC parties, its not that hard to get to 90 in 5 days lol.

I'm going back too but for some reason I can't link my PlayOnline account to my SquareEnix account. May have to start fresh... what server will most be playing on? Thanks.

Borderlands 2 will not last you several months.. It barely lasted me a month before I got bored. lol

Go back to FFXI? No thanks. I'm not nearly that desperate to get some sort of FF-MMO "fix".

you'd have to be desperate to go back to ffxi. i mean... ps2 graphics? No thank you.

I did enjoy my time there but someone just needs to put it out of its misery.

Actually, yes you can now. I got one job to 95 in about 2 weeks and I was playing slooowly.

You can easily get a job to 35~ in less than a day.
Pop in to Crawler's Nest and do a book party and hit 50 in a couple hours.
Have a friend get your G1 items, if you're lucky, less than an hour.
Back to CN to hit 55 in a couple hours.
Have a friend help you with G2.

Rinse, Repeat in CN for as long as you want so long as you have a level sync.

I've seen people stay in CN until 75, though there are plenty of other dungeon book areas to gain massive XP quickly.

Stop and do Maat fight, hopefully with an easy job. I did mine as 70 THF in junk gear and got it first try.

At 75 you can go to Abyssea areas to party and you can gain xp even faster than in CN. I think you can average something like 60-100k xp/hr (or more?). I know I did limit breaks 80, 85, and 90 all in the same day.

i lost my character in FFXI so would be a waste of time for me getting a new one : : if i had it there i would

i'd consider reactivating, but i doubt they're gonna recover a character i deleted 3 years ago
