Will Square Enix be extending its services to more countries in 2.0/future?

I've just been notified (in another thread, not by SE personnel though...unless the person does work in SE) that by entering a wrong country in the registration process, I'm not allowed to be a customer of Square Enix because I've already broken the Terms of Service. I didn't have a choice, as my country (Singapore) is not listed here. Apart from that, other information like credit card number/address/city are just as real as I am, just as real as the money I diligently dish out to keep Yoshi-P's coffee and cigarettes coming to him :p

Many of my Singaporean friends (and some from neighbouring Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines) would have done the same thing to get on this game. We would have either bought the EU or NA versions of the game locally (because we all do communicate in English).

I hope they are working towards expanding that list of countries to include us in future. This would mean we will get official support for this game and opportunities to participate in future forum-based competitions and stuff. We are certainly no aliens to FF XIV (including many who have spent years in XI). And after all... I'm sure Square Enix wants our moneeeeee :D

I looked at that list of countries again and am surprised to see "Brunei Darussalam" listed under Europe and the Middle East and am wondering if it's a honest mistake by SE's lawyers.... Brunei is nowhere there but is sandwiched between the Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak and Indonesia's Borneo! How come they get serviced when we don't...

That's strange, a Linkshell member/friend of mine is from Singapore and he plays every day.

There's support just not official support, you usually have to be paired with x region (usually EU and Japan for a lot of SEA regions.) It's being extended to China region officially.

Zezlar I play everyday!!!!! And so do many of my friends on Masamune.
we can successfully create an account with Square Enix that enables us to log on and play the game, but for the longest of times none of us (I think) was unable to log on to these forums (which was rather funny because we pay subscription too). After almost 2 years of "Temporary session invalid. Please try again" error messages, I found a workaround (anonymous proxy) that enabled me to finally register and get me here.

Singapore is NOT in China...... (we get this joke ALL the time LOL).
Chances are the official support for China will be in .... Chinese. My Chinese Singaporean friends are fine with that, but I'm not Chinese...
Speaking about support, I had submitted two separate enquiries through my Square Enix account on my unability to access the forums... and.... yes you've guessed it. No reply.

Zezlar... and my blog and Lodestone profiles are active! I wonder how many times have I ranted about that on my Lodestone blog...

Hope they fix that for you guys. Didn't know those problems even existed :/

Pretty sure Elexia said your support would be from China not your country is within china. Would be the non-Japanese Asian support hub lol

Or she?/he said there is a general support called SEA not sure about that since I'm NA.

I played ffxi for like 5-7 years listed in the wrong country. Don't worry.

Gee I missed this reply somehow.
It would make sense to lump us (South-East Asia) together with China since we are technically around the same region, we'll just have to wait and see if that will be the case for 2.0 (which will officially launch in China as what we've been told recently). And nope...there has been no official support for SEA all this while... except... Brunei Darussalam!! :confused:

Guess till then....it's Jp onry...... (but hey they are nice people okay.. I happen to know quite a number of Japanese here in Singapore but none with interest in this game :( )

You know what? SE even put Timor Leste, our youngest ASEAN brother in their list. and PNG (though PNG is not in ASEAN)
I personally find this, dissapointing
But oh well, what matter is we still can play

I totally forgot about that, is China really getting their servers on lockdown? Silly China government >.>

Should check out what they did to WoW, not allowed to show undeads and such lol - also changed the Panda designs being largely Japanese to being Chinese.. Not that MoP did much for itself in seriousness when it said it was introducing pokemon lol. . .

China by law would be running on there own world/servers and i'm sure anything to do with undead would be change also lol. let hope they don't get lock to only china worlds that would suck real bad

I'm also disappointed when I first making account and found Timor Leste listed and Indonesia (which is more bigger brother) are not.

Oh well... :p

Rina_inverse... yeah doesn't really matter to me that I don't get to participate in these contests... but support issues go further, what if you paid for the game and still couldn't get proper technical support should something go wrong while you play it?

Bobbin... I take it that you're residing in Indonesia? To which I wonder how come you are able to get on these forums when I, only a couple of hundred kilometers away north... couldn't...

Now I take back my words when I said...lumping SEA with China would be logical geographically..... after reading that bit about their laws..... nooooooooooo! Otherwise I might have to consider migrating to another country just to play FF XIV..... well Brunei isn't that far away from where I am but there's nothing there but oil~~~~~~~~:p

And yeah, it sucks to have to import the game and put in false country information to be able to play, like we're illegal immigrants or something. :-(

Weird! I know of at least a couple of SEA-ians, Singaporeans included, on my server who couldn't register and get on the official forums... if you do come across others with the same problem, tell them to try accessing this forum via an anonymous proxy (like www.zend2.com) and that should work. It took me 2 yrs to figure that out :o

We the illegal citizens of Eorzea... pledge ourselves as one maybe not-so-united nation... regardless of race, language or religion... LOL.... maybe when 2.0 comes up we find ourselves branded with a little mark on our forearms that says so... this sounds like FF XIII :cool:

I'm wondering if the devs have a response to any of this? Even something along the lines of "ok we'll get back to you at some point while the world is still alive" will do - chances are this may not be in their jurisdiction.

Yes, I do reside there. But it's not like I don't have problems. I remember early days when I decide to use forums for perusing some knowledge and I can't get in. Mailed to SE and only about a day later that I can start making post in it.

Another thing... I am using 2 internet providers: a stable ADSL one using @ home, has very few conns problems and a CDMA one for office and outside usage. There r times when the game keep giving yellow or even red conns, and lodestone r usually the worst to load. That's why when I logon outside home, I usually concentrate on solo stuff.

Can't say the same things lately since the rush to finish as much content as possible coming with final save. For this last month, I even spammed AV/CC and even Garuda for sake of achievement clearance. Luckily, my cdma provider performs quite well. XD

Oh... and I dunno if this relates, but I do bought the EU version since it was sold very cheap compared with NA ones. Might be the reason why my country wasn't listed. Maybe US version have more diverse in country choices.

(right now clearing spaces and hoping can jump in to Rivenroad Hard and do more Garuda to get weapon(s) or farming more totems :p )

Resides at Indonesia too, never have issues with forum but payment method was largely annoying before, couldnt even give SE money until they implement direct CC method.
