I believe PST is 8 hours behind GMT although that might be messed up with daylight savings.

You should be looking at 9am at GMT+1!

That should be right... I'm currently in daylight savings. Thanks :)

According to the coutdown it will go down at 1am PST on the 11th (taking clock change into account)

This would mean 9am for GMT and 10am for GMT+1 (yeah I checked lol)
We'll be going back to GMT, Koko so 9am! Better get up early!

There is no need to adjust for Daylight savings as "midnight pst" does not take into account daylight savings and it will no longer be in effect at that date.

Assuming from the above posts that Suraj is in GMT+0 location with daylight savings currently pushing it to GMT+1 therefore it should be 8am on November the 11th 2012

If in a GMT+1 location and Daylight Savings is currently pushing it to GMT+2 then it will be at 9am on November the 11th 2012

At work so cant check if the the countdown timer tallies with the time I think it will be.

Their clock looks accurate, there is still a time shift for daylight savings coming up, which actually falls on November 4th at 2:00AM for me (Ontario).
So yuck, 3AM for me on a Sat night/Sun morn for the finale. Oh I don't really care, we all know I'll be there short of some kind of freak incident causing me to fall asleep

Yes me and Suraj are both GMT+1 currently and will be GMT when it goes down.
According to the countdown it will go down at 9am GMT and 1am PST (if you don't take the 1 hour clock change into account it would be 2am PST)

So the text says "Midnight PST" but the countdown timer is counting down till PST+1?

edit - for the physical countdown timer, the extra hour needs to be included due to clocks going backwards and making 1 day last for 25 hours as opposed to the standard 24.

Assuming that OPS images were taken 12pm GMT+1 (based on post edit time of 11.48am (for me)) 406 hours is equivalent to 16 days 22hours

Its currently 1pm GMT+1 and daylight savings will make October the 28th 25 hours long so the number of hours will reduce by 2, one for my time difference to OPS image and the other due to the 25hour day, to 20 hours time.

20 hours from 1pm will be 9am GMT+0

so 1am PST and 9am GMT it is >.>

You're le-right Fadikins, you'll always be 8hrs ahead of me (a PSTer!) apart from about 3 weeks a year since we don't go into DST or wintertime adjustments on the same day D:


Your time on anything SE-wise may be messed up however as they don't account for daylight savings on their GMT times (learned this the hard way through FFXI), so Suraj - You may see the servers go down at 8am your time^^;. It all depends on how SE worked it out, they are a confusing lot D:

The timer is system clock based... Like 99% of timers implemented on a web page.

Also the GMT time is 8.00am. No need to convert, just need the launcher in FR/DE.

This sentence doesn't even make any sense. GMT is always GMT. It never changes. That's why you use it as reference. There is nothing to "account for" when you use GMT.

Yeah, it was hard trying to get through to people in XI that from April-October the UK is not on GMT, but instead on BST and that S-E only ever posts in GMT for the EU. It seems a lot of people in the UK think they're always on GMT, whether or not the clocks have changed^^

Ahh sorry, I guess I was kinda confusing Antipika!

Colloquially even in daylight savings, some english folk (including myself, I am guilty of this) still call it GMT instead of bst, which leads to a lot of confusion for brits and time conversion lol

I hope that this made my sentence a little clearer! (You'll have to forgive me, it's 5:15am and I've been up all night grinding paperwork... the joys!)

I don't understand. I thought the servers shut down on the 1st, not the 11th.

Is this a post-game event?

Last save is on Nov1st (Oct31st for some), and servers will shutdown on Nov 11th, no data will be saved between Nov1 --> 11th ^^;

I have a feeling something crazy is going to happen during the 10 days after the 1st.

Open the client on November 10th, and the timer will be replaced with "Dawn of the last day."
