Lol i think the flood theyve been talking about is gonna be the people breaking the nda. They have to know thats gonna happen. Idk why they are holding out.
Have they even shown male highlanders yet? I want extra muscle!!! Lol
If He-Man in a dress was what they were going for....
Nailed it.
I'm personally not expecting any life-breaking news until the Alpha launches all the big guns have been shown and the rest is just polish that as desperately as we want to see it wont be available until early/late beta phases.
We allready know the big game-changers like the new server structure, the new jobs, most the battle mechanics, the feel of the new overworld, how the team feels about animations and whatnot. There isn't really a whole lot more they can tell us that would satisfy the masses, we need to get our hands on it the sooner the better. Personally the lengthy wait on the Japanese Alpha is hard enough I don't think any news between now and then will change our tense atmosphere on the forums or really give us much to give them feedback on.
They don't seem overtly worried about what we think at this point in time and are either going to completly ignore us or wait until the Alpha/Beta phases to start taking us seriously again.
I am just amazed at what they have accomplished in just two short years. I don't expect much more till Beta at least, after that just a build up till launch in early 2013.
That concept art is from a Japanese magazine/media.
Yes, Highlanders must chave their eyebrows because like their beards, it can get very bushy and it'll be difficult to see and kill stuff. Well,well... are highlanders finally going to have women in their clan? They're basically Hyrul too but better built. They can have the right gene make-up to breed new and improved killing machines!!
GO SPARTA!
In all actuality I am hoping to see more on what actual changes have been made to the combat and other game-play systems. I find it odd that they have given so little information in regards to it considering they had hoped to release ARR late 2012 early 2013.
You seem like an intelligent person, I wonder why you think that programmers and PR teams are the same people? Information does not take time away from production, and considering how ignoring feedback worked out for the original launch, community information and discussion is crucial here.
FINALLY SOMETHING ABOUT FEMALE HIGHLANDER... even though it isn't much. I want to see an in game model!
Looking around the web for the source of the picture it seems an identical picture was posted on 2ch on September 10th, digging further the concept art showing the Female Highlander Hyur came from the 25th anniversary pamphlet and showed up online around early September... so to burst the bubble this is not coming from a magazine and has actually been on the web for over a month.
I wonder how hard it will be to tell the difference between Highland Hyur females and Roegadyn females. beyond the unnatural skincolors the Roe's get.
I actually like the female Highlander. It's actually a very good headshot they have for her.
Black Desert began development from scratch in september 2010 (the time of ffxiv's initial release) and quite frankly they seem to have achieved much more with a staff of only 50 people than SE have with a staff of over 200. It's actually kind of alarming how little SE appear to have done by comparison. Regarding ARR, we have evidence of only one zone under redevelopment (The Black Shroud) and a more-or-less direct photo-copy of a generic MMO's quest spam system.
It's gonna be sub-mediocre like any other Korean MMO there ever was. At least for us, because them Koreans love their crazy grinders.
At least they've learned from Tanaka not to set a hard deadline and force themselves to deliver an unpolished turd.
Polish is one thing, and certainly the lack thereof was responsible for FFXIV's original failing. I mean, after all, you couldn't even gain experience points properly on release, there weren't even any boss monsters. The game was very devoid of content, and lacking in basic elements (to this day, menu lag persists).
But polish is one thing, game design is another. The reception so far to FFXIV ARR on the internet has been so lukewarm, and not purely because of the bad impression it made originally, but also because it's not really advertising itself as anything even remotely interesting. I mean, it will be a leg-up on the original in terms of polish (probably), but what else? "make friends" i think was its selling point in the previous trailer. Might as well have just said "this is an MMO" for all that's worth.
Hopefully they update the website with all the stuff they have yet to disclose (which Im presuming there must be a lot of... because surely what we've heard so far can't even be remotely all there is).
I don't understand why the DEV team has to go through the trouble of designing a female highlander... *Highlanders are basically Hyurs but better built and probably have no trouble stealing the girlfriends away from them tiny midlander "male counterparts". Female midlanders are just in awe at the (ahem) "size" of the Highlander, why should they be an exception in being part of *their clad??
Highlanders preferred catch of the day is either a Miquote, female Elezen or Female Hyur... the Highlanders reputation is: They have no preferences in race, mmmmmm
