Key Item removal - On the Properties of Beastmen

I would appreciate a little clarification here, with respect to the Relic quest. Will the key item "On the Properties of Beastmen" be converted into some sort of hidden flag on each character, such that buying it for 25k GC seals will be preserved, even though the item itself will be gone? Or do I have to spam hamlets to get my remaining 6 seals before 2.0 or risk losing 25k seals because I haven't turned in the key item and 9 seals to Rowena yet?

Curious about this as well. The other key items seem fine, but this one feels like it's up in the air.

that 25K is gone now, maybe it wont be needed in ARR. all the changes are gonna hurt everyone in some way but were gonna have to deal with it. we'll find out how the game works soon.

They also said they wouldn't rob players off relic progression

I'm interested, but I doubt they would do something like remove the need for the item without refunding us the seals.

They give an example with the Chocobo and Goobue Mounts so it will most likely remain as a flag just not one we can view through a key item list, or they could change it into a regular item that we can then pick up from that overflow item NPC.

I was just giving an example. People think it's more plausible that SE will just take a dump on you for no reason when the entire purpose of ARR was to reconcile with the players.

The relic system and your progress on the quest is being retained for 2.0, so most likely it will either be converted to a regular item or, it will be removed/replaced with something else altogether and you will be compensated.

The whole reason such sweeping changes are being made is because core concepts in the game are being redesigned for the betterment of the players. They are clearly taking steps to make sure nobody loses out logistically.

Since they didn't say this, no, they're probably not. If they were going to give you gil for it, it would have been mentioned. It would probably just not be a "key item" anymore. They aren't going to exchange you gil for an item you still need

(on that note, with the new numbers I'd LOVE to get 250k for that)

Wish I had Atomos and 1k Caravan runs when I needed seals for my key item.

They can't mention every single key item. It's not hard to extrapolate what will happen to the other key items you had to purchase. Otherwise, I'd imagine they're turning the On the Properties of Beastmen key item into a flag in the altered relic quest.

There should be a rule against creating threads with such misleading titles.

i think if you bought on the properties of beastmen you should get to keep all your gil and not a paltry 1/10th of it

Didn't sound like they were "removing" Key Items prese, just removing our ability to view said item and/or converting them into quest related items like how tapers/lamps for Primals show up in your quest log, or just a regular/menu item like a choco whistle/gobbue horn. They already confirmed they were letting us keep our chocobo, gobbue horn, and barding, so unless the item was specifically mentioned that it was being removed I wouldn't worry myself over it.

They really need to change the way hamlet seals are obtained because the current system is retarded if you missed the boat after the initial patch. I really have no reason to play the game right now because everyone is busy doing the fun content to get multiple relics while this initial cockblock is boring, incredibly time consuming and offers no reward to anyone who has already completed it.

They need to change the system to some form of token reward that you can exchange for your hamlet seals, that way doing hamlet with random people won't feel like a waste of time. If I was guaranteed a seal for every 8 hamlet wins I'd be happy.

This is why I still have my doubts about this game, it's still relying on out dated loot systems that only seek to enrage players and put them off playing. It's a slap in the face when winning hamlet gives you 100 anima on top of the 100 you already have instead of something useful for your efforts. I know they are changing loot systems in ARR but I'm not convinced they will get rid of the RNG, it seems like they are just changing the distribution methods to need/greed.

Sure I have the money to brute force my way through it with top provisioner but I shouldn't have to spend 60 million gil just to make content tolerable enough to play through. I'm reluctant to do that at this point in case they do make the system for seals better in V2. We will have to see.

I'm sure some white knights will post that cockblocks are needed to prevent the masses from having items, but that doesn't mean we need badly designed content. I'd rather have to beat Ifrit extreme 50 times than suffer through 400 rounds of hamlets, at least the former is challenging, fun and I'm actually fighting something. The whole idea of hamlet defence needs scrapping and taking back to the drawing board, it's just that bad. When half your party is going to an end game event equipped with a broken crafting/gathering tool of level <10 there's something seriously wrong. A DoH/L class should be nowhere near a battlefield to begin with.

As for this key item, it will probably be converted to whatever it is replaced with. Key items will probably still exist in some form.

What I want to know is if my Commemorative Coin will still be exchangeable for 25k seals in ARR. I don't need to exchange it right now as I'm maxed on seals.
