Instance Wait Times Necessary?

Just curious as to the reason for wait times on Instances such as Hamlet or Primal Fights. It seems like a complete waist of time when you try to do 4-5+ fights a night, resulting in over an hour spent just waiting on timers. I know you could use the time to craft or whatever, but I know I would definitely prefer to be able to chain runs rather than having a 15min wait after each run.

yes, they are totally needed.

They are there to prevent you from burning through the content too fast.
Go to FF11, experience timers that take days, then come back and praise the current low timers.

They're barely nothing (5-15 minutes), I know this is an era of MMORPGs where there's no restrictions on anything, but the timers generally serve the purpose of regulating how many people go in at a time.

I have no opinion other than I do like a small cooldown so I can at least go to the bathroom without feeling like I am holding up my party :p

A thousand times this. I think these cooldown timers perform a useful function in the game. Of the many things that I've done while waiting for the Ifrit cooldown timer to end: farm tapers, run back to repair my gear, grab sanction, food, whatever else that I might need, run a leve or two, craft, socialize with other party members, stand up and stretch my legs, check these forums, etc. It also ensures that my Benediction is always available for the next run.

Of course, this doesn't stop parties from doing Ifrit >> Moogle >> Garuda >> Gridania ad nauseum. Then the cooldown timers mean nothing.

I don't mind the cooldown but IMO it should probably be reduced to 5 minutes since it really hurts people with limited playtime during the week.

Its already very low. NO need to make it even less

I'm hoping they make longer timers for content in 2.0 in favor of higher drop rates. I really don't like having the ability to renter so quickly, and then need to spam it with low drop rates. It makes content go from enjoyable to being repetitive, tedious, and annoying.

It would be fine if the content was longer. But Ifrit/Moogle/Garuda the wait time is longer than the battle itself. Hamlet Defense usually lasts 20 minutes too so about half your time in that case is spent waiting on re-entry.

I guess it helps the servers not having too many people inside at the same time.

But otherwise, it's the worst time sink ever. Short to "invite" us to repeat one content, but too short to really let us do anything worthwhile. The worst part is that contents last barely longer than the cooldown (primal fight are even shorters). We spend roughly 50% of our time doing nothing. 15 mins cooldown would be more reasonable for content that actually last 1 hour.

If it's to regulate the flow of drops, then it's a bad way to do it : it penalizes everyone when the problem comes from people with a lot of time to play. A tag system (like guildleves) to put an upper boundary to the number of time we can repeat a same content would be a better solution.

Yes but the timers that take days you aren't sitting around waiting for them to expire. You show up for the event and complete it without wasting time at the crystal for example.

I don't mind the 15 minutes. I like the short break between each run when my LS is spamming things up.

should be happy how they are now. they could always make them higher.

If anything I'd prefer a longer wait 30 min to relax stretch, talk to familly/friends who may have been waiting for my run to be over.

It's nice to be able to take a break inbetween runs without feeling like everyone is waiting on you.

Remind your GF/BF/Wife/Husband that you know they still exist.
Pet one of your various animals, perhaps feed them.
Open a window....

You know...do stuff other than stare at the timer for re-entry.

Drop a load
and do whatever your GF/Wife told you to do before they beat you with their eyes.

Dropping a load is extremely important. I cannot believe I forgot it.
Being beaten by an evil stare from your other half is quite brutal as well.

If they're going to put a wait time in between instance runs it should be a long wait timer. Something between 1 to 24 hours.

15 minutes does nothing but waste people's time. The lockout is short enough that people wait for it to run out so it's not even good at it's initial purpose which is to keep people from spamming the runs.

I like the break time in these events for pretty much what SirOleas said - dont like the RNG but thats another subject.. :D

Having been recently married I can appreciate the 15minutes to pay attention to the wife =P However it is still possible for the group your going with to take their own breaks, giving you time to do whatever. But I know when the wife isn't home and I'm trying to get in as many runs as possible, even the small 15 minute wait timer seems like an hour!

Yes, i need them for taking a break after each run ;XD

I'd rather have a 2-3 days cooldown but a better drop rate, than this 5min cd with a shitty drop rate...

They need a different loot system. Using the RNG in its current state with 2-3 day cooldowns would just change the frustration levels/intervals.

Just have been seeing some people try to play with the RNG within its current constraints as a solution - it doesnt work.
