Has there been any word on whether we will be able to change our main quest city in 2.0? By the way, does there exist a page that details all confirmed changes in 2.0?

They did say a long time ago you could change "everything" about your character. I think they addressed that as one of the things that would be changeable. Reasoning, for those that need it, if you have lore behind races some people are picky about that and like to align nation/race/lore. So they would need to allow it to change to go along with race change.
I distinctly remember Yoshi saying that you would not be able to change nations as that is tied to your main storyline. You will however be able to change Grand Companies, but you will lose all of your seals or something to that affect.
Why would you chose 1 knowing it's your path.. then choose another.. turncoat!
I imagine we will be able to choose our Nation/GC again.. as it wouldn't make sense if we couldn't?
Lol, right! In-game ofc..
One really big reason I say no to this also, I see majority of people that want to change being in adders and maelstrom now. Like we really need more people constantly flooding ul dah and leaving the other city state regions feeling even more deserted then they do now.
Yeah at first they said everything, then recently said "nop sorry can't change starting nation!" ._. I wish I knew that BACK when they said we could change EVERYTHING...I would have gladly remade my character. Thanks SE! As usual!
Oh well. At least I'll have one character with everything leveled :/
THere has been no word about this, but you can just create multiple characters to experience the main storyline for what little period of time it differs by citystate. Everybody will be able to create multiple characters, at least one per server (8 per server for legacy members), at 2.0 launch.
I dunno why people care about this so much. They could be taking a totally different storyline approach I suppose, but the way it is now, only the first handful of quests are nation specific, and they're basically tutorials.
Asked Yoshi that question on Gamescom:
So, nope :/ I wish i could switch. MehQuote:
JPGames-Frederick: With the over howl of existing maps will current players be able to choose a new starting city? After changes are made, maybe a Ul’dah player wants to choose Limsa Lominsa instead, will this be possible?
Yoshida: The current player won’t be able to choose a new starting city. The reason being that current players are playing the story now and the continuation of that story with Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn – So we can’t make any changes there.
Wow, so they took that back huh? Yep, totally makes sense that 1/3'd the mi'qote population grow a pair but hey your still stuck to the original nation.... right. Not that I was going to change <3 me some limsa.
This is the correct statement. You cannot change nations as Yoshi has said. The only thing you can change (or alter) is your appearance and Grand Company (with losing out on your current benefits). I don't think he has mentioned whether or not you can change your character's name, though.
I'm pretty sure name change was in there as something you can change. I think he used a roegadyn example
I want the GC's to unite more and form one grand military organization, so I can get the gear from all three GC's or even better gear for the high ranking officers (give new ranks please, I need an excuse to do chocobo escort to get my chocobo mask!) that offers good stuff for all classes/jobs.
I will only change maybe my hair color and/or maybe the shape, but no race change or big features changes.
Unless they release Viera as a new race in ARR, then my heart will be divided.
I only want the Malestorm coat and sword... they look so cool...
Everyone gets at least 1 character per server. If you're just triyng to experience the storyline, it doesn't matter which server you're on. Make three characters and play each nation's quests. Once you've done that, go back to playing your main. Either that or go look at the cutscenes on youtube, as none of the quests are anything special.
I know, that post was just a response to one that implied (intentionally or otherwise) that having 8 character slots per server is a Legacy perk. In truth, anyone who pays the 14.99/mo rate has access to 8 character slots per server. I was just trying to clarify that. X)
