Please add Ninja!!!

From the live letter from the producer:

A: Including samurai and ninja, we are currently at the stage where we are looking into which we would like to add next, so we haven’t yet decided on the specifics. However, in the future we are imagining dual wield and double barrel guns, so please look forward to it!


So if I am understanding this correctly, the next class/job they are adding is between Muskateer, Samurai, or Ninja?

Ninja please!!! Hybrid dps of heavy DoTs WSs and Ninjutsu elemental magic with a side order of throwing stars. Hold the tanking.

It means they will be adding it at some point but they are currently deciding what they should add next, aside from Arcanist/Summoner of course.

Samurai wont come out to they add a norg type area or far east which by the looks of it be a expansion pack. Which i guess would add both SAM/NIN into the game.

Remember they have to also add a class to go with the jobs so it would take them some time.

The next class could be anything, even something that hasn't been mentioned yet. They're still discussing it.

They'll add it when they are ready. Asking wont do anything

You don't need to ask them to add ninja. They're obviously already planning it. It's just not coming anytime real soon.

All I'm waiting for is Samurai, all the other jobs are just a passtime. :P

Could either introduce one class and then have them split into NIN and SAM or a class for each.

Just to see how those who were asking for wyverns would react, I would want to see them give NIN a pet dog to mimic the Shadow+Interceptor thing. Ninjutsu, throwing items and a dog, if you will.

i think people would get mad that NIN would be a pet class even if it just one type of pet.. Even tho i do like the idea i don't think other would take it so will :(. I do want them to add real shadows clones in FFXIV there no reason not too. Like you do shadow clone and you have 3 shadows clone around you and they would block attack they can even do small amount of times i think that would be fun to see.

And yes i did not think of that you could really just have 1 class and jobs would = sam/nin

Musketeer should come first. It's been waiting in the wings for two years and the guildhall is looking pretty lonely.

Then, sure. Sam/Nin sounds cool.

Does it not seem sensible that the class would be Ninja and the job Samurai?

It's enough for me to know that they will ad SAMURAI!

fairly sure being a Ninja would take a hell of a lot more training than a Samurai.. no i think Ninja would make the better job of the two

They will probably both be jobs and their class will have some unFFjob-ish name just like the rest of them.

Ronin > Samurai ?

Assassin > Ninja ?

If archanist is a class that leads to summoner, and both summon, and they plan on making musketeer "dual wield"... anyone seeing the connection to ninja "dual wielding" as a job? Seems like a wierd leap from muskets (guns) to katana's but every npc guild so far is for classes, and archanist/musketeer already have those guilds, given, they could just delete them for 2.0.

Can't wait till they add ninja! I hope its not a tank also lol but if it is oh well..either way I'll be happeh :o

I don't expect ninja or samurai to come out anytime soon. at least not until a new expansion pack with additional zones with towns.

Blink tanking was the downfall of PLD in FFXI, and FFXIV PLDs have enough problems.

Personally I'd like to see a ninja that didn't cast elemental spells. I'm thinking they should stick with Bio, poison, tp drain and so on, perhaps an ability that lets them start a ws chain at any position.

Does Ninja turn in to Samurai or something?

No the downfall of PLDs was all the melee hitting the enmity cap like 5 sec into a fight and having the mob bounce around between whoever had hit it last.

You're both right. Melees was able to tank a little more efficiently thanks to blinks.

Blink tanking screwed encounter design hard. You HAD to design mobs to hit super hard because otherwise NINs would trivialize the fight. Unfortunately, defense scaling in XI meant that if you used a PLD you were SOL because the hits would be too hard for you to heal and keep enmity through.

That's not going into how contrary to concept blink tanking was. I'd rather not have that mess here and instead have a wider roster of tanks in the form on BST, SAM and one other job aside from PLD and WAR.

Have you played Voidwatch the current content? There is no tanking its all use fanatics drinks. Mob bounces between whoever hit it last. Unless a Mob as adds then you have a PLD hold them off to the side and thats all a PLD ever does is hold adds.

That was due to the crap hate system in XI. But PLD's suffering does span as far back as the discovery of blink tanking. The hate system is just part of a bigger whole.

I'm happy to hear about Ninja and Samurai definitely!~ But what about Thief :O!?

Ninja's are practiced assassins of many arts. Thiefs are like a ghetto ninja then :P

I hope they are careful with thief though, messing with drop rates would change the job distribution greatly.

This. Its been done in other FF games it could work here. And for those that are like, but what about my thief. They said classes would get AF gear too, and 2.0 is looking like a bit of an overhaul on classes. We are already getting a taste of this with the difference between Arcanist and summoner (only Arcanist can summon carby). But meh, who knows.

Yes, Arcanists/Summoner are coming first. Who said they werent?

Yes, I know they are coming out with Ninja at some point eventually. But I'd rather it be sooner than later.

Why did I bother making a request post: 2 reasons, 1. Because they mentioned it, and 2. rather have sooner than later.

Lastly: Someone asked about Muskateer, they then mentioned it and sam and ninja within a couple of sentencs in relation to adding new classes/jobs. Ill be the first to admit I want ninja, but that being said am I the only person that read that as something like: "We are discussing new jobs, and its come down to either nin, sam or muskateer".

Shadow predated Naruto by a good decade or so. I'm not asking for the dog and the NIN to combine their powers, but more for the dog to act as supplemental to the NIN's actions.

I'll admit my suggestion is snark aimed at the people who wanted DRG to get a wyvern again. What's good for the goose is good for the gander and all...
