Please, please, PLEASE do not have a limit to how many players are able to have a house. I've seen it done in every MMO that ever had housing, and its EXTREMELY unfair.
Absolutely every player should be able to have a house.

Hmm, I agree
I don't think they will limit it. I have heard things before about them limiting specific areas though. So 100 people in this town and 100 in that etc....
This is what Wada-san said he was worried about as Yoshi P was talking about it.
Yoshi P said that it will be sort of instanced... so if one area fills up they can add more and not run out.
But you will have to pick and buy your plot of land (different sizes available) so I figure that if someone gets the plot that you wanted, you will have to wait until they make another instance available before you can try to buy it again.
I have never seen a single game that limits how many people can have a house. I see no reason why would they do that. The housing zones will likely be instances.
i already see peoples fighting to get the spot they want =)
Sounds like exactly the same as the system in Lord of the Rings Online. Each instanced area would hold a couple of Kinship (Linkshell) Houses, a half-dozen large houses (with a higher rent) and a dozen small houses. The area also had NPCs to access to your Vault (ie Retainer) and a shop for vending goods.
It's ok and it ensures everyone has a house, but leaves the residential areas feeling like ghost towns - more so after a few months when the population dies down.
I do like the sound of the Choco Ranch though! Kinda hoping there's a special type of storage to replace the Armoire that can keep *all* Uni/Unt items in it.
I dont think EQII limited how many people could have houses either. Each house door let you choose whose house you wanted to go into. They were all instanced.
I don't think they've made any indication that housing will be limited to a certain number of players.
I think we might need to wait for more info though on how exactly these instances will be implemented. Honestly I'd be fine with a personal instance but towns sound like an okay idea as long as people can upgrade their housing as desired without worrying about other spots freeing up.
Houses will just be a waste of gil.
Well not really, it depends what you want from a game.
Someone plays for the high end gear so they can be the best DD, some people play to equip their house with the nicest things around.
I personally can't wait to start furnishing my house, no matter what it costs.
I just hope they dont do to the houseing like NC did to Aion houseing, you do get a apt. for free but you are limited how much you into it (only 20 items), or you can buy a house some bids starts around 35-50mil and maint. fee around 400k every 2 weeks (i think), but if you want a mansion starting around 112mil maint. fee 2mil ,an estate around 335mil maint. fee 4mil and the towns or theyr own zone, so please SE dont do this...:(
So i mentioned in another thread very vaguely about housekeepers. First mentioned was moogle. Very used up. So I mentioned cactaur. unused.
Now lets talk about other cute housekeepers we could have!
If we can have Chocobo stables, I want my Goobbue to be able to frolic in my yard as well. It's only fair.
have their been screenshots about the housing? from live letter? would be really cool.
what I want to know is who's cleaning up all the chocobo shit in the yard? You thinking owning a home is a piece of cake?!

Ohhhhhh YEEEEAAAAH! :Q
I would also take Marmots and Spriggian. Tho Spriggian like to run off with your stuff and bury it.
Have they said if housing will be available at launch or will it be sometime after?
Maybe even our long-forgotten path partner could be our housekeeper as well. Which is a miqo'te for me :D
Um... I haven't really read Reinheart's translation... but what I recall Yoshi P saying is there will be different sizes of land plots: small, medium, large, and I think he mentioned extra large as well.
You will of course be able to build bigger houses on bigger plots of land.
Of course the prices will be higher, so in the beginning you may want to start with a small piece of land and a small house.
Speculation now: I guess that perhaps implies we can somehow sell or trade up? Or perhaps buy up a ton of property, rent it out, and be property tycoons! ^^;
I wonder if we will be able to share the same house with another player ?
Or at least allow others to enter our house .
Before I decide, I wanna see the plot, I mean, see Gridinia, Limsa, and Ul'dah land plots and if they have different building designs for each area or not. This is very exciting news to me, I LOVE in-game housing and being able to build your own place.
A game I really loved that had building in-game was the Dark Cloud series cause you could build villages and in DCII you could have more customization options.
But anyways I'm so excited, I'm curious to how much it will cost for housing, supplies to build your home, furnature and all that stuff. I hope they have manniquins inside the house to show off your gear.
I hope maybe they could do something like have pictures on the walls and you just have to take screenshots in-game and have them displayed on your wall. That would be cool!
Well if its instanced the size doesnt matter, if you want as the biggest land available a 3000 sq feet, you make it so everyone in that instance can take that much, but if someone doesnt want or cant afford a big area they can buy the smaller type and they might give the option to buy the rest later, so i dont think it will be that restrictive.
SE...how much is a fortune? I want to buy this one pl0x lolQuote:
Lastly, there are plans to implement huge spaces of land that cost a fortune!
and will my bf/so/w.e be able to put his next to mine? Or share one? I wish they gave more info /sigh lol
I hope we can share housing if we want...especially if we are married in game. It would be so much easier since we share gear/everything anyway, if we can just take what we want from the house/storage and put it back when we are done. I really hope they consider this >.<
