What do I wear
Personally I like to wear my quad-melded VIT chestpiece. Don't worry about accuracy - it's your party's job to hold back long enough for you to get hate. Also I'm working on a penta-melded Sentinel's Celata. I'm pretty proud of my gear because I've played the materia slot machine pretty hard to get what I want. I also use a Thormoen's Pride for the +evasion.
Thormoen's Pride, but , if you want to tank anything, you should probably gear out a whitemage with a defense build.
I'd also suggest wearing Gallant Sollerets for the block rate. It really helps. Block value is a worthless stat, it's all about stacking block rate.
I'd love to see your VIT/evasion build take as little damage as my DEF build does.
Grats on the celata though, I've been having trouble double melding mine. This game is pretty ridiculous sometimes. 18% success rates it's as bad as darklight gear drop rates lol and hey magic evasion materia isn't easy to come by~
No you see for optimal melding success you take a tier II for +10 (8 or less will not do), a tier III for +15 (less that that will cost you on the tier IV) and any tier IV. Your chances of success will be higher than two tier IIIs and a IV.:o
Here's my setup that I use for everything
Sentinel's Celata 3-meld (+49 healing potency) my old 4-meld blew up :(
Sentinel's Cuirass 4-meld (+70 vit)
Raptorskin Subligar+1 3-meld (+30 str/dex)
Fingerless Raptorskin Gloves of Slaying+1 4 meld (+28 block rate)
Explorer's Moccasins
Scarlet Sash
Rose Gold earrings +1
Black Pearl Choker +1
Amber Bracelets +1
Stonewall Ring/Amber Ring
MH: Thormoen's Pride OH: Thormoen's Purpose (for the hidden set bonus)
It works pretty well against Ifrit. As soon as my LS can muster enough people I'm hoping to take on the dreaded chimera :)
This whole thread is wooooooooosh.
The most important thing is to spend all money on melds before ARR because the stats will work exactly the same and there's gonna be no new gear and only those with triples will be able to even walk out of town.
I definitely learns it from Molly.
That sounds a bit like bologna tbh, especially when you very well know you can't parry with a shield equipped.
That's besides the fact I've never heard of such a thing, but by the same definition wouldn't the mages and explorers set provide some sort of set bonuses as well.
There's actually 2 separate explorer's sets. Tabard + Sabatons which gives a damage mitigation set bonus and Bandanna + Moccasins + Breeches + Earring which gives crit AP. The Mage's set reduces the MP cost of AOE spells by a small amount.
Uhhh this is pretty common knowledge guys we've known about this stuff since 2 weeks after AV/CC came out.
Might be because I've rarely seen anyone wear more than maybe one piece from any set so it doesn't spark enough interest for me to inquire and ask about why they're wearing it.
For that matter I can't seem to locate any info on the hidden set bonuses either.
Did you actually buy that lol
Not really, considering most of the equipment that drops from AV/CC just plain sucks save for a select few pieces for certain jobs. It wouldn't convince me to buy them if they did have a hidden set bonus, because I seriously doubt any hidden effects could make up for the gears shortcomings.
He was asking if I was actually buying what you were saying, not buying those mostly PoS gear that drops like candy from AV/CC.
