Map Marker Suggestion

Forgive me if this has been suggested before but I could not find it through search.

I often get lost when I'm navigating confusing areas like the Shroud. I'm suggesting that we have a feature where we can plot a point on the main map with a marker that will enable an arrow guide (similar to leve quest) on the mini map. With the possibility of more than one marker that are colour coded with the corresponding arrows.

I'm aware of the map transparency options but this really doesn't work very well for me. It ends up blending too much with the actual main screen.

I thought this would be quite helpful for adventurers who like to explore.

surely level design will be better and you won't get lost that easily , so map markers could be good but not as necessary than in 1.0

I propose SE allows people to draw maps and then put them on as addons.
I believe SE said they will allow player mods, so why not allow those with good drawing skills to re-draw maps for us (if they need redrawing)?

that is a little out of the subject , it's map marker that he is talking about not the map design .

I'd like markers for those silly spots on the map where it says you cant go that way but in reality you can. I'm looking at you Mor Dona >.>

He is talking about hard to navigate maps. I am against an arrow that spoon feeds you every single step you have to take, but if the map is confusing, maybe allow others to draw better maps? (Ones that can indicate secret tunnels for example)

I think you are either misinterpreting OP or being unreasonable.

OP is asking for a marker you can add yourself - so you screw up and then log it on the map with your own personal marker. No such spoon feeding existed.


OR I am misinterpreting and he is asking for an auto pilot system

he is not talking about arrow for quest but to add a colored marker on the map and possibly an arrow that would point into that direction so you don't have to open the map to see where is the marker you placed compared to your position .

Still wont help in navigation. You already know where to go, the problem is the right path correct? Well that marker wont help there.
There are so many areas when by simply following the marker you will end up on a cliff that overlooks your destination, with a 5 minute trip back down

what he wants is be able to set where he wants to go so he won't get lost and will have to open the map every 30 sec .
And with multiple markers for the main intersections it become easy to trace a path in the forest ( or being able to trace a line ) .

lololink is dead on.

I apologize for the confusion. I do not mean for it to be spoon fed paths - or any type of auto pathing system. I'm simply suggesting a marker system that will allow you to set your pre-determined destination. An arrow would then point you towards that destination on the mini-map.

It would not auto plot the best path available, just a straight line of sight. Yes it would possibly lead you towards cliffs - but a good amount of that can be seen on the mini-map. Its not perfect but will at least decrease the frequency in which I will need to constantly check the main map (as lololink pointed out).
