Upcoming Billing Procedure question

If the listed “End Date” is after September 30, 2012 (Including a free trial period)
You will be able to play for free until services for the current FINAL FANTASY XIV end.

What if ours say "To be cancelled" but the end date is say Oct. 8, do we still get to play for free in Oct.? Or do we need to reactivate it so it says "Continuous"?

i think yes it will be f2p for the players that can play after september 30 ,even if your account is cancelled .

There's a step by step guide on the page, I don't see how you could have an end date on Oct 8 because that would mean you renewed last on September 7th/8th, which means your account would not be cancelled unless you requested it to be.

Or am I misunderstanding?

If I were you I would set up automatic billing to be safe. If for some reason it would cancel on Oct. 8th then when you try to reactivate the system will say they are not allowing that at this time.

for those that end date is before Sept 29th is best to have it automatic billing with sufficient credits/crysta to avoid unable to play the small f2p period that they have given.

I am pretty sure october is not a free to play month.

The F2P speech in Yoshida's post DIRECTLY followed after talking about reviving the servers while the beta was going on.

That one thing almost everyone voted no in.

Because the free period will be lengthy, odds are they will be prorating anyone's fee periods extending into november- Though it would be nice if a community rep could verify this.

yes it is a free to play month if you had an active acount .

Looking at the newest news post, it looks like it's not going to be pro-rated. Perhaps when 2.0 service begins, the time you paid for will still be good for whatever of it remains.

So I just got an email that I'm going to be billed on 9/16.

What month is that for? October I would think! Or are billing dates different for everyone?

you can't be billed after september 30 , 9 is september .
you will be billed again when ARR came out ( but i think they will do the same thing as they did when the game stoped the F2P phase )

Your monthly fee is for the 30 days following the day you pay. You're paying for what's to come, not what's already happened.

so i just looked at my alt account and it says end date of sept 29 so does that mean that account wont get to play for free as its billing day is sept 30?

I have the exact same situation as Lordbraska2,

my End date is the 29th, my estimated bill date is the 30th.

To play you have to have an active subscription on the 30th, but the game time ends on the 29th.

So... lol?

I dont know if i was really tired when I first read the webpage or if it got updated (if it got updated, thank you SE - updated webpages is what we need).

But it says if your end subscription day IS or is before the 29th you need to keep payment up.

I know Lordbraska had similar issue.

So while some people paid for October month, other people will get it for free? this seems kinda unfair to me.

Are we going to get the "spare" days back for 2.0? Like my account will renew on the 27th, so that is 3 days into Oct. Oct goes free, then what happens to all the other days I paid for? I lose them, or get them back?

It's not unfair. SE isn't stupid, if you have leftover days when the servers shutdown, you'll most likely get them when the game comes back up after 2.0 testing.

(Some confirmation on this would be nice, but it seems the most logical outcome)

The thing is, they had to suspend billing at some point. They're shutting the servers down on Nov. 11th. Because billing cycles for the player base are all over the place, they're shutting down billing services a little over a month in advance so no one pays for time that extends past the final save date or past the server shutdown, because then they WOULD have to pro-rate individual players' time to ARR's launch.

This isn't a "Hey, we here at SE love you guys! Have a month on us!", it's the bi-product of making sure that even if you do have to pay for time into October, which sucks, at the very least you are still able to play and have access to the game and having your character data saved. Anyone with a billing end cycle of October 1st or later would be uncomfortably close to paying either for a day where none of your progress would be saved, or past the day the servers have been shut down.

"They had to stop bill pay at some point" is the gold I think.

Wish they let more of October be pay able as to be less misleading for Legacy - As some people got screwed right on September 30th or October 1st, which would technically take them to 30/31st.

Other then that, yes they have to stop bill pay at some point - and since there isnt a fixed cycle date for everyone, whatever day they choose someone is going to get less "free" days.

Yes, I guess that is ok, but they could also just freeze the accounts on Oct 1st and people get the time they paid for back on 2.0, thing is, no idea how their billing system works and if this is possible at all.

I don't care about some people getting a free ride, I just don't like the idea of losing almost a complete paid month during the "free play" period.
