Character creation in 2.0

Will there be new options(eyes, hairstyle, etc.) for the existing races? And if so will current characters get the opportunity to edit?
This may sound silly, but I would love to be able to change my birthday >.>

Everyone will get a chance to re-customize their characters due to the significant changes to character creation.

I would personally like to know if we could get our item code items like the Asuran Armguards, Hermes Shoes, Garlond Goggles, and Onion Helm when we recreate our characters for ARR.

I personally think it'd be a great opportunity to allow it again for those that created a character first then applied certain item codes after they figured out how to get them registered.

I'm hesitant to believe it will happen as the dev team stated that we'd be exactly the way we left on November 1 barring positional coordinates.

Still crossing my fingers...

Oh and name change too if I change race/gender...

Speaking of which, more naming lore would be nice prior to ARR's launch. They've got the Roegadyn up there on the official site but nothing for the other races.

I would love to see some of the new character customisation, it seems to be one of the things that has been left out to show us...either this is good or bad lol! I thought maybe we would have seen some by now :(

I totally agree with you, and I was going to post about long hair too. I only saw maybe a couple of options for long hair on Elezen, I'm not sure about others, but I really wanted longer hair :/ (I just chose this one since I didn't like the long hair, and this was similar char on XI)
More hair options and maybe skin marks/tattoo designs? Well maybe not...

Long hair and not only for women please !

They've mentioned how it'd be difficult to animate the physics for long hair. Which is fine if this were PC only, but during the special talk session Hashimoto kept explaining how difficult it was to bring the current ARR to the Playstation 3 with its memory limitations.

Hopefully Yoshida will open ARR up to the mod community and we can get a myriad of new hairstyles but I'm regretfully not expecting ARR to come with long hair.

My guess is that if they didn't show us new hair styles it is because it is not interesting enough to attract people. They have stuff a lot more interesting to show us.

Don't we already have something like that? It's not a slider, but does pretty much the same thing.

I would love it if we could get access to the character creation some time before 2.0.

When 2.0 is accessible, you have a horrible choice before you:

- Get character creation/updates absolutely correct and delay looking at the new stuff.
- Hastily rush through character creation/update so you can see 2.0 and spend the next years playing the game wishing you had spent more time getting your character just right.

An early release of just the character creation portion would solve a huge dilemma ^^

I believe it was TGS where they first teased character creation for FFXIV in 2010, so it could be that we'll see something soon. c: I'd love to see a plethora of new hairstyles, particularly long hair that's tied back/up in various ways. Also, more name lore please! I know it was mentioned already so I just want to second that. There's stuff up for Lalafell and Roegadyn, so how about the others? :D

(Complete redesign of character creation screens and process.
Addition of Miqo'te males, Highland Hyur and Roegadyn females for version 2.0.
Creation of more character customization options (e.g., hairstyle).
Ability to walk and view character in game environments and use emotes as part of creation process.)

Well looks like they already have alot planned for character creation.

Not really a big deal, but I wanted to have it reflect my real birthday April 17. So I have it as the 17th sun but for some reason I couldn't figure out how to change the Astral Moon moon part. So my character's nameday is the 17th sun of the 1st Astral Moon when I would like it to be the 4th Astral Moon. But not really a big deal, would be nice to have though.

The reasoning is pretty much why someone earlier said it would be nice to have a creator tool before launch. When 1.0 launched I was so excited to get in that I rushed through character creation a bit.

I'm keeping my main the same, at least as far as birthday and stuff, since otherwise it wouldn't match my Right of Passage >_>

I like my Lalafell the way he is, long mustache and creepy older-guy voice and everything, hoping similar options (especially the voice) are available in ARR X)

Might give my miqo'te alt a do-over though, along with making her surname the same as my main's to eliminate some confusion in my LS X)
