Legacy Icon on forums

Was just curious if SE would consider putting the Legacy meteor icon on our avatar area in the forums? Not a big issue obviously, but where it has the medals, # of posts, ect, I think it would be cool to have it there to show =) Thanks

Yeah it's pretty much equivalent, that being said I'm not against having more info on our forum profiles. I hope they revamp the forums along with the lodestone at 2.0 launch.

Or maybe it's there because there isn't a legacy icon on the left profile. Sorry if a signature upset you, but I'm glad that I stuck with the game and contributed to what hopefully will be a success.

Oh, agreed on both counts. I think it could look really nice, even, especially if the Lodestone/forums get remade to look more attractive and "2.0-like."

I just don't like the occasional vibe around the current playerbase of "we Legacy players should get even more ways to remind those dirty non-Legacy players that we're more special than them." If that wasn't the OP's intent, though, then no harm no foul and I apologize for the assumption. :)

You get decreased fee's, many many more characters, and a special chocobo. I don't know why you feel you need a little stamp on the forums to make you feel like what you have to say holds any more value over anyone else.

The best part is, you get an icon in your SE account and on the current character select screen, there's nothing wrong with a forum icon display...but this community as usual..

The biggest e-penis comes from not having to show it, rather then having to pretend its big by an abnormally shaped image.

If its not a tiny L or Sigil overlayed on the avatar I vote no - its not important if you are legacy or not and shouldnt be allowed to effect your "forum-cred". I dont want to see legacy as a point of contention as I already imagine it will be.

Predictable, but a random suggestion for an icon apparently really got on people's nerves. Then again, the grass in 2.0 isn't up to par for some. But since I aim to please, you all have to look at Golbez now for the signature. I hope that isn't too obnoxious ;D Should have figured a 2 X 2 image of a meteor would rattle some cages

I actually wouldn't mind having an icon for legacy on the forums, but that's just because I would like the forum profiles to show more information in general, not just because of legacy or anything like that.

As for in-game there will be the black tip chocobo (eh), but just displaying more info on your forum profile is something I would like to see. Maybe stuff like your current in-game title, achievement score, stuff like that.

Perhaps they can force you to click a checkbox on the forums when you're replying to a Legacy member that says "I understand that this person is a Legacy member and I'm not, so they're probably right and I'm probably wrong. I should know my place."

Contention was referring to the whole plan itself. Legacy.

I imagine new players that find out about it will be discontent on hearing "you can't touch this" and having heard a lot of current players talking about legacy I'm sure they will fan the flames by inappropriately showing it off (showing it off and rubbing someone's face in it are separate, I don't think you should have to hide your legacy but neither be a jerk about it). Humbleness doesnt seem to be a strong trait in at least the vocal ones here lol.

(Not pointing anyone out, I felt besides the initial image*OP was very polite in their inquiry. *The image size is likely due to the fact they didnt want to take the time to make a realistic sized sig, but just wanted to make a point.)

I guess the general consensus is, the next time a lsmember logs on and goes "I got my email, i'm a legacy member!", we should clearly remind him, that he is not better then anyone, whatever he has to say has no higher value then anyone else, and that he already has enough benefits going for him. Legacy status itself doesn't bother me in the slightest. (I'm also a legacy member.) The rewards you get from it are cool and I'm excited about them. I'm also proud to have helped support SE build 2.0.

I just don't think people ought to be using it as a status symbol. The constant asking for "more, more, more ways to let everyone else know that I'm a Legacy member both in-game and on the forums" smells of that to me, at least a little. But that's not targeted at you, OP, just sort of the community at large since we're addressing the topic. :)

Oh ok, I kind of misunderstood you.

Yeah I'm with you in that sense, I dislike the "THIS IS MINE, EXCLUSIVE, DON'T TOUCH THIS" mentality that goes on sometimes, like most recently when some threads were wondering if the Legacy deadline had been extended and a number of people were almost offended that some new players could possibly manage to squeeze into Legacy this late. It's a bit ridiculous really.

I was being sarcastic, but yeah it was referred to the sig size, not the fact that it points out OP is in legacy status. Big sigs in general are annoying, regardless of content.

Oh come on, you don't have to get all angry or take this personally because some people disagreed with you. No one is claiming people in legacy can claim superiority over anything or be right all the time or any of that nonsense. And the people who are, are being sarcastic. It's just some humor man.

The problem is not an individual's pride in being a Legacy member. We all want FFXIV to have the best community possible and have a comfortable environment for everyone to play in. I already see people disparage others' opinions because they have a low post count or because they only have a level 30 Class. Having pride in their accomplishments is everyone's right. By the same token, though, if the source of that pride is used as a status symbol to hold over others, it transforms into something else entirely.

We Legacy players have many, many things going for us. And while I don't particularly feel strongly one way or the other about a legacy icon on the Forums, you are taking the criticisms here too lightly. They are legitimate concerns.

Well yah, that flip him the bird was a chocobo joke.. sorta lol. But I appreciate what you are saying though. And as for that original signature I had, I'm not exactly savvy in editing images, I simply copied the link for the image, so apologies for that. Actually surprised about how much feedback the suggestion for icon got, I figured people would just be yes or no. I know somewhere someone said the whole forums should get a redesign in general, which I agree with.

I cant find the quote but I'm pretty sure they (SE/YoshiP) has previously stated a redesign of the forum to go along with the redesigned game.

Hopefully someone with a steel memory can know where that quote lays.

He mentioned the lodestone being re-designed. I would assume this means the forums as well, but who knows for certain.

I'm wondering just how much crying there will be about the legacy items/ benefits and if SE will cave and be like


"Really? You want a mount that takes up the entire screen and no one in their right mind ever rides once they get a chocobo? Fine have your goobbue mount!"

I am pumped I am part of legacy, but I'm wondering how the noobs will feel when they see the shinies we have that they don't and how SE will handle it.

I honestly think they should make a legacy2 for 2.0, where if you pay for like a year or something you can get partially what was within legacy1 like 4 free characters and a choco - I'm not sure.

Legacy1 was a thanks to the support during non optimal game play - Legacy2 would thanks for having loyal customers but at a much greater time period since obviously the game play isnt (or shouldnt) be the same issue.

Also things that where in 1.0 like Dalamund horn shouldn't be available in 2.0 regardless of what happens with legacy - neither should the "I am a survivor mark/tattoo" they have planned. As these are lore tied to something that only happened once.

The reason I think they should have another but not exactly a like legacy campaign is because the legacy campaign says "We gift our good customers, thank you" - which is great, people have a great sense of pride being a part of legacy. But not respecting any other future customers contributions would be like saying "we have our favorites - and you will never be my best friend" - certainty they appreciate all their customers.

I don't get people hating on this. Its not necessarily trying to lord it over non-legacy members (I'm pretty sure MOST people are legacy by now), but how about just wanting it because we like our little prizes and badges of honor and like to display them just to show pride in them? Or maybe people just don't want to ever be confused with a newb?

If there was some badge to show how long I've been using the internet, I'd wear it, because apparently MANY people think I'm new to the internet just because I'm not jaded and apathetic towards people or their feelings. And then they proceed to completely disrespect me and think I know nothing about anything.
Case in point, there's benefits to not being mistaken for a newbie.

I would think join date would be a bit misleading, seeing as I believe mine states my forum join date being in January of this year, when I've been playing since open beta/CE early start.

That aside, it'd be nifty to have a little badge in the avatar area somewhere. Yes there are pitiable people who would (and will) hold their seniority over newcomers; but in truth, it's not the shiny badge, it's how you wear it.

We don't need a legacy icon, you can use the sig.
