Great article imo. There's more discussion on it at the reddit post here.
I read that this morning, linked it to all my shellmates. In my opinion it was a well-written article. I like that the author seemed to know what the hell was going on in the FF universe.
And people were afraid that the game will get negative reviews based on 1.0 launch.
a very inspiring article.
Great read! Nice to see 1Up actually writing an article I can stand to read.
That was the best FFXIV article I have read, it referenced everything relevant and gave the readers a good overview of what has happened and what is going to happen. Also it was nice of the guys to give the writer 100k, if he came to Gungnir I would have taken an interview :)
He also seemed to know a lot about the game, and seems to have done his research, unlike these review sites. I'm sure he didn't play much but this is a news article and he did all the research he needed to make a well informed article.
XII is an awesome game to me.. :D but I am the Minority :P
Inspiring and surprisingly unbiased.
I'm really happy he actually bothered to talk with the players and do his research, if all gaming "journalists" had this caliber of writing and work attitude we'd have a lot more respectable websites.
I have to agree, it's a well written, unbiased article.
Honestly 7 was "ok" it wasn't the greatest FF of all time 9 and 12 are ( to me anyways). and 12 was VERY Final Fantasy. but then again I'm only 1 person so I can be considered the minority on when FF started to see changes. FFX was the FF game that got me into FF games. " The Series is not what it onces was" if that was the case.. there wouldn't have been like 3 million units sold for it for FFXIII.Quote:
Seven mainline Final Fantasies after Final Fantasy VII, the series is not what it once was.
I tried my best to give my honest answers and what not, hopefully it pays off ^_^
i swear it took me an hour to beat zeromus or something, i mean that fight was long but getting smoked out then your friends come and raise you in spirit while the FF theme was too epic.
BUT yes that is a extremely good article, but as i read some of the comments i just want to punch a wall.
With FFXIII it seems they wanted to change it up, to attract new players this new vision wasn't to the traditional FF player which is why veteran FF fans didn't like it as much but other people did. I for one wasn't overly impressed with the game, why give mobs 10,000,000 HP, when you can do 4,000,000 damage with one stagger. That's the main reason I didn't like it. Think of Dark Anima on FFX with 10,000,000 HP (unless you want to cheat with attack reels) it will take ages to kill her.
Interesting read. I don't think I realized that 2.0 was going to need a whole new client. I mean, it makes sense in a way, but I hadn't thought about it. I figured that existing players would "upgrade" same as always, but it sounds like everyone will need to buy and register new discs? That's how I read it, anyway.
That article don't speak a lot of ARR , it just says that they are remaking the game because it's was really bad( which is quite old news ) , that the autor love FFVII ( seriously he compares Nael ,that looks like an ivalice judge, to Sephiroth ! ) , and resume the story of 1.0 ( well forgeting about primals that's not related to the meteor , too different from FFVII ... ).
That's not the same thing at all , Nael wants to destroy the gods ( which is quite the same thing in FF XII ) .And Sephiroth talks like that to Jenova ? Except when he took his head , but he was totally mad , Nael kinda praise Dalamud's destruction powers .
it'll be funny if nael comes back as a super being that looks like sephiroth
Just as Sephiroth praises Jenova's power, the similarities are there and are easy to see, it just takes a bit of thought to see them, I didn't at first but after that article I did see them.
Oh and in FFXII Achadia just wants to expand their empire and is bent on world domination, which is what the Garlean empire is trying to do, however Van Darnus is bend on using Dalamud to destroy the world, which is why the black wolf wants us to kill him and stop Dalamud, because you cannot rule what doesn't exist, its also why he never stopped us.
anyway, the problem is that the author only speaks of FF7 all the time ...
I should add I was also a latecomer to FF, I started with FFIX, and have subsequently played all of them except III and VI and I love them al.
Haha too many to quote, I'll be playing it asap (will download from PS store) just money is very tight right now :p
Wow I totally thought that article would be lame but it actually made me feel good kinda. Good job 1up
That was a very good article. I didn't know we can go to jail though.
Really good article. +1 to 1UP.
and yes FF IV story was really good. Still my favourite.
