Cash Shop Items for FFXIV possible future update?

Would be nice if they add cash shop items like:

A-Costumes for your character.

B-Pets: your personal (Moogle)

C-Costumes for your Chocobo.

No thanks to cash shops.

Just make items earnable in game, please. We already pay for that per month.

I see cash shop happening releaseing mount and Costumes and pets that just walk around it's a good market plan and it give SE more money about every mmo does it.

Stop making useless threads and go level.

There has been a few of these cash shop threads in the past. most people do not what them because they will end up turning the game into a game full of really corny outfits that normal paying customers wont be able to obtain.

Please, no don't do this, I mean, I don't mind paying a subscription but if they added a cash shop like they did with Wakfu or World of Warcraft I'll most likely leave the game.

It's just that I like to have options to get stuff in-game and if they do make a cash shop I wouldn't be able to help myself and feel that it's manditory for me to obtain the items they put in there, kind of like the stuff they have in Wakfu, or the Pets and Mounts in World of Warcraft you can buy, I just don't want that for FFXIV. Sorry, it would just ruin it for me.

How about these 'cash shop items' being available via GIL~

Gil sinks please. We have enough gil as it is :P

Every cash shop game inevitably falls victim to creating a money = progress atmosphere. It might not be required, but it'll be faster, more efficient, and unfair. It might not ruin the game, but it would ruin the fun - which is worse.

I vote monthly sub. over cash shop forever.

Besides, most people end up blowing way more than our monthly fee on "Free to Play" cash shops. That's the gimmick. That's why they do it. You seen how much people used to drop on GAIA and it just got less and less fun?

I'll never understand cash shops in subscription games... especially when the items are half the box or subscription price. (Don't get me started on this whole DLC hoopla either)

Oh everything on that pic is going to be a cast shop for sure we had them in FFXI where you need to pay 25$ to switch worlds. I'm sure they have that in FFXIV and it would cost money and be a time limit of 90days before you could switch again lol

I remember the server transfers (lol $25) I never needed to transfer though because I loved my server *RIP IFRIT* until that huge server transfer event came and people started abusing it and mass-transfering for free.

I want the licence plate frame says "my other ride is a chocobo"

It seems some people like shelling out extra paper for stuff that should already be in a game.. *coughDLCcough*

While, like most... I would prefer the items implemented in game to earn rather then buy, IF they did introduce a cash shop they would need to make sure there was nothing available that would help you progress. This means no 'save your meld from breaking' scrolls or such.

Vanity only, meaning change gender, appearance, get a chocobo dress w/ no stats etc etc sort of things

Honestly though, it would be awesome to have a shopping district where we can go to a barber (lol hamlet) and get our hair changed or a boutique to buy high priced gil vanity items (frilly chocobo dress/things a crafter would not possibly make or are limited editions)

Though all in all MOAR gear design contests!

I would only expect this for real life money.

I'd really like to see a barber in-game but it's not really that high priority for me.

Yeah, I think I heard something about him adding a barber/tattoo parlor in-game. It's kinda expected to only change hair styles...tattoo removal or what not would just seem painful but not impossible...the only way I could see if they did eyes is if they said they were contacts. XD

The only things I want to cost real money are server transfers and character name changes and such.
Im fine with stuff like that being possible because it neither makes you better nor makes you different from other players.
A price is alright because it keeps people from abusing it (like changing their name 5 times a day) and also because stuff like transfering character data to another server is actual work (beyond what we pay for with our sub) for the FFXIV team so thinking about it, it's alright if it costs money.

At a reasonable price though, not $30 or something like that.

I would say I'd be tenative on cash shop. If its just vanity items and race/server/gender changes and all that, I'd be ok with it. If its gear that puts you above the normal player, then I'd be against it. Cash shop vs pay to win setup, basically.


Also, whats with all the bad topics today? "FTP Model!" bickering about.. well just about everything.. Or bringing up old topics again.

I see no problem with cash shops if it's strictly for vanity items.

I played an MMO that had a sub fee WoW that has many cash shop mounts $25 and pets $10. I just never felt obligated to buy any cash shop mounts or pets. Although some people do. Blizzard makes millions each time they release a new cash shop exclusive mount. For example 16% of the player base in wow bought the Celestial Steed mount data was pulled from the armory by a fansite. At the time of release WoW had 12 million players.

That's 1,920,000 mount buyers x $25 = $48,000,000. So yea Blizzard made 48m selling 1 mount on a cash shop which probably took 1 person like less then a day to create since the mount was just a reskin of another mount in the game. So they continue to release cash shop mounts every 6 months or so.

It isn't even a free to play game and they make millions selling cash shop mounts and pets. One of the reasons F2P games seem to be doing so well these days.

If SE wants to make more money they shouldn't ignore stuff like this as a way to get revenue.

On a subscription-based game I really only want to see 2 things available for cash outside of my subscription:
-Server transfers (because sometimes you need one, like if friends start playing on a different server 'cause yours is full)
-actual, physical merchandise

I am casually open to in-game vanity items being available, but I'd still prefer it didn't happen. I'm a big no on things that actually assist you in game or are necessary in game to properly play your character being in a cash shop on games with subscriptions.

TSW is doing it and its working out well >.> cash shop for cosmetics is okay as long as it is not randomized gear or such where you end up blowing loads of cash and have no chance of getting something like most cash shop games

I have no issues with gear being sold on a cash shop. Because you have the choice of not buying it. Some people have self control you know.

I remember one of my buddies buying that mount. Don't the cash shop mounts apply to every toon on your account, making it unnecessary to buy/earn an epic flyer ever again...?
