I got this one done within the first 30 minutes of the contest starting and whatnot, used only the tools I had, but I spent at least a good 25 minutes thinking of a ring design. So here's mine, I call it;

A ring mourning all who fell in the tragedy marking the VIIth Umbral Era. It is imbued with fragments of Dalamud.

Personal comment or caption for your entry (max. 100 characters):
Upon wearing the ring, aether grows and wraps the finger. When the ring's spirit bond is 100%, the wearer is granted a free teleport to an Aetheryte Crystal. Upon use, the spirit bond will reset. (1%-100% bond=crystal glows blue, 0% bond=crystal glows red)

Ring stats (max. 50 characters):
Attack Power: +10
M. Attack Power: +10
Gathering: +10
(stats meant to offer some kind of positive to wearing it and be beneficial to all classes that travel)

Ring name (max. 25 characters): Kupo Ring


It's not the greatest but I was going more for concept than refined illustration. I also screwed around with the ring name for the unlikely chance that I win, I'll have my first name in the ring. XD

A ring like that seems kinda overpowered, like maybe possible if they make it break upon you dying and after your raise and regen effect takes place.

Had to do this really last minute, as I don't have photoshop and couldn't quite get used to using GIMP2... so it's not as detailed or elegant as I'd envisioned, but I feel like I got the general concept across. It's heavily themed after Final Fantasy (the original game) and Bahamut's trial to unlock the advanced jobs. The stats are probably a bit too OP, but I wanted to make something special & nostalgic, even if it doesn't win.

^^ It's basically just a quick sketch and light coloring job. Bahamut should really be a dark black, but transparent within the crystal. Of course, I doubt that level of detail would show through in-game anyways given how small rings are ^^;

Also it might be totally legible but the bottom notation on the image says that I used norse runes as an example as I don't really know the "alphabet" SE uses for the maps etc. of Eorzea (you know, that nifty writing that only shows up on the maps and concept art from SE).


EDIT: For total clarity, basically what I was going for was something to sort of represent that same reward you got in FF1 for bringing back the rat tail from the Castle of Ordeals. That's where the damage reduction comes in - it's meant to bolster the wearer's resolve & signify that they will not be stopped in their quest to save the world etc. etc. cliche I know lol but that's also sorta the point.

But I also wanted to balance it with some offense, so that's where the regain and refresh come in - the ring has to be equally attractive both Disciples of War & Magic (I realize PLD & MNK get a double benefit out of it) and showcase that wearer not only has the will, but the strength to challenge and defeat evil.

The only other option I thought of was to simply add in a global reduction to all skill timers, but that just seemed outlandishly OP.

To be fair, CG rendering is based a good portion on the program you use.

Oh, hehe, meant nothing negative by it. If anything I'm a bit jealous but that's about it, I was kinda shocked by it cause it looked like somebody who does something like this for a living. But yeah...sorry if I came out that way. /sweat

You saw my entry on FB? Wasn't sure everybody could see that since I don't have that many friends on it. Or are you one of my friends in disguise?! XD

But yeah, I know aside from my own talent, I know there are others out there that have more experience than me that would enter, but that doesn't mean to not participate and throw in your ideas. Cause you never know what would be popular among the others.

Yeah, you have got to be in it to win it after all. And anyway, I think concept will be king in this contest, since they have free reign to totally change the winning entries to suit the game XD
