or they will break this number?
I am hoping they break this limit if the game does well and lives a long as they expect. It seems really exciting right now but once we have 2.0, we will always be asking for more content, quests, etc.
I would like to see level increases somewhat quicker than every year or two, depending on how many people reach cap and have burned out all of the content.
You don't have to raise the level cap to create more content.
No, but when level cap is raised, people would want new content for that new level cap. Otherwise, if you release too much content for lvl 50, then people start to wonder how much it would matter for when the lvl cap is raised. People will do the content, but for the sake of balancing the game, content should be spread out so that there is just about as much content for lvl 50 as much as there is for lvl 25-30, or even lvl 70.
It would be years before it even get to 75 so ya they should not go higher then 99 most of final fantasy game follow the 99 rule but i guess 100 wont be bad lol
I kinda like the idea of being higher than 99, but 99 is sorta the traditional Final Fantasy level cap. lol
Just need to increase level cap every 1-2 years, but I like the idea of Lv99 being cap like in every other FF game
took FFXI 8 years to get to 99 so dont hold your breath
Traditionally its always been 99 in FF games. Yet even so that will be a long ways off.
FF has always been about level 99 cap. So no, on raising it passed that. And you don't need a cap to see more content. FFXI was lvl75 for years and content was good and gear was established. Now they have a 99 cap, which is good for gear and content will once again be established while the content will keep coming.
It would be silly to break the level 99 tradition of Final Fantasy I think.
The other option is to not use levels, such as FF X, XII, XIII
yep you don't really need to a raise the level up to make content little by little games are going away from the idea to even have levels. The point of level is to limit you to what you can do and time sink you too you can reach the level needed to do Endgame but thy could easy make content that could have this type of time sink to they can make new stuff.
Overall i see the cap going up every 1-2years i see the first one being at least 55 then few month later 60 then few years too we see 65-70
I never thought they would have raised the level cap in FFXI past 75. It was 75 for like five years, and to be honest I much preferred it that way. I think a level cap increase is inevitable. I don't really care, but to be honest I slightly would prefer they didn't ever raise it considering leveling in mmo's is nothing but a chore you have to do to get to the real content anyway.
You only raise level caps to ditch old content.
You can add new abilities through quests in FFXIV, and you can get new players ready for new content by adding superior crafted gear. You can still explore new regions that offer new and exciting content at the level cap, you just fill it with stuff that does not only include monsters to grind on.
Yet another useless thread that wont matter for another few years brought to you by mizukage
Did anyone else find it really annoying that the level cap in WoW was consistently raised after every expansion? All it did was wipe out everything you acquired/accomplished since the last expansion. XI had it right by keeping the cap at 75 for a long time.
99 or 100 is the traditional cap, I can't see FFXIV breaking that trend unless its lower, like FFXI was (not counting after SE decided to ruin it)
You mean how they gave players new content to explore? New abilities to use? New gear and goals to work towards? So much worse than FFXIs years upon years of endless sidegrade content right?
Why do people think it's the end of the world if they release new content that makes the older stuff obsolete? Do you enjoy the stagnation of hitting cap and going no higher? Is it fun when new same-level content comes out with sidegrade/semi-situational gear? Nothing in XI was ever so hard to get, that when the cap went up and you inevitably replaced it, made you feel like you were losing out. Nothing, not a single piece of gear.
Not really, gradually raising the level cap is the best way imo. Gives everyone something to look forward to with each cap raise whether it be to simply level to the new cap and participate in newer content, or to help newer players who struggled with older content by going in as a higher level and catching up with everyone else :D
Leveling is for the feeling of growth you get once you reach cap. I don't care if it's 75, 99 or 100 I only hope that ALL the contents they will introduce will be scaled in the years, so that contents could be enjoyable forevah!
(Ex. Final Fantasy XI, even if there could be many reasons for it too much old epic contents lost their magic ; ;)
If the grind is fun and there are enough story quests to do then I hope they rise it to and beyond 99. I've always sort of coveted those crazy mmorpgs where you can see absolutely godlike players who have grinded for years.
I wouldn't mind if the cap stayed 99 since that's the traditional max level in FF games. However, I don't want to see a situation where one level is the cap for 6 years and people cry when all of their gear becomes obsolete. There should probably be a cap raise every 2 years.
OP: Wow Klaus...your really on a trolling train today arnt you?
what happen to Trollestia?, you get her banned?
Agreed. Try to remember it isn't just gear that's outstripped either. How many FFXI players do you suppose are doing Sky, Sea, Dynamis, etc. Now that all that old gear is phased out and worthless?
If you can't think of a single piece of gear you worked your ass off to get, I'm talking serious digital blood sweat and tears, that frustrated you with it's sudden obsoletion you must not have spent very long at 75 before Abbyssea was released. If you can't think of an end-game activity you enjoyed that's no longer being done because of a level cap increase, you were probably playing the wrong game.
You can always add new content. Content isn't necessarily tied to levels. You can also add in new gear, new limits, hell even abilities all without making old favorites obsolete. And while I'm sure you can retune an old dungeon or other end-game event for the new level, I've yet to see anyone (Other than WoW bringing back a select few that aren't even necessarily intact) that actually does so.
And what if I do enjoy that accomplished feeling of having a maxxed out character that I'll never have to level again? Is there something wrong with being content with that? Am I somehow broken for not thinking, "Man...I could use another 10 levels and some even more uber gear about now..." What's wrong with reaching the level cap and simply enjoying end-game for what it is A'la FFXI?
Let's see... Nope! You want to know what I enjoy? Having new things implemented into a game that don't just revolve around face planting on a gear treadmill. If you wanna talk XI then let's rule out the ground king 24 hour time sink roulette shit. That stuff kinda sucked.
But think about it. Both RoZ and CoP made you work through the missions to unlock a pretty, wide open playground. Things like sea and sky as well as dynamis all had one very neat concept in common, that being, each allowed players to engage in numerous activities within each respective piece of content. I'm not going to bother with talking about whether you thought it was hard or not. I don't care to be honest. It was the concept.
Sure there were bits and pieces of gear to pick up and obviously that was the main goal in the scope of things. However, in retrospect, moving through the tiers each individual set gave, progressed a player without just rewarding them with gear. For example, you may not have gotten the sweet pants off byakko(sp?), you may not have gotten some rad AF2 in one of your dynamis runs (maybe you were after coins? spawning a relic NM? UH OH, gotta beat the first three city dynamises!), and you may not even have gotten one of the rare/ex item drops from temenos or appolyn(sp? -_-) to unlock some gnarly AF +1 (No prob! Gonna fight Ultima and Omega tomorrow! WAIT!.. 2 guaranteed drops?! :O), but you progressed through the tiers of the content both individually and (if you were in one, I'm guessing) as a linkshell able to move further into the deeper content.
P.S. I don't give much of a shit about FFXI anymore, but if you wanna talk about it, compare it, whatever it, I'm game.
