How to spread everyone around?

Ok, I am just curious of what everyone here thinks, that would be a good solution to move everyone camping at Ul'dah or its nearest zones to all overEorzea ?

I know a little more game content in those cities would help but I am not sure. Sure it will keep me occupied in a certain town for shortwhile but then I would come back to Ul'dah because of the market and various other things.

So, please feel free to input good and constructive solutions and hopefully maybe one of those SE developers might stumble on this thread and get some ideas. :)

P.S. If this has been discussed before, if you can please provide me a link to it. ^^

Instanced dungeons (mentioned here in response after question 10) should give incentive for leaving Ul'dah, along with other world redesigns.

In another thread I proposed a solution involving a World Market to make use of Limsa Lominsa and Gridania empty market wards. It's not exactly light reading, but theres a picture and examples to help illustrate.

#1, equal distances between each city and Ishgard,
#2, don't put Uldah in between Limsa and Gridania, from each city, it should take an equal amount of time to reach the other two cities.
#3, make Limsa and Gridania as easy to navigate as Uldah.

Problem solved.

For real? Gridania's a single map. If you have trouble navigating that, you're... not bright.

Well, that's not true at all. Only crafting guilds are Weaver and Goldsmithing. Obviously others are located in the other two cities. >.>

why? theres zero need to spread people around. The only time you should think about this is when we have another option to travel that does not involve a 45 min walk... anima comes back way to slow for travel to be MORE spread out.

I agree theres no need to spread everyone around. It's actually better to have one city, imo, where the market and stuff is. Just like jeuno/au in ff11.

There will always be a centralized area where people gather, whether player chosen or dev chosen, it will be there. At least that's what I think.

Ul'dah is the most ergonomically designed city. Aethryte, wards, repair NPC, city exit, adventurers guild, and retainer all near each other. And there's multiple routes to get to each with the ability to adjust a route with a wrong turn.

Limsa and Gridania are more linear, resources more scattered, more imaginitive, but less time friendly.

Good point, hadn't thought of that.

I agree alittle with you guys. I just wish there was a way to bring a little friendly city rivalry. People who joined limsa or Gridania would not have to abandon their cities. They can take pride from where they are and still have the ability to make a trek to other areas. When I go to Gridania and see how "Ghostly" it looks...kinda saddens me. :/

I spend a decent amount of time in grid cause thats where the LW guild is, and I get kinda annoyed that its always so empty. The only time anyone ever there is after leve reset all gathered around maisenta.

I would say it's the first part of the solution. You won't spread up people (or at least you won't make people happy to spread) unless you make traveling fast and easy.

hehehe correct again...but I also would not like to see people be able to transfer to different cities instaneously with a significant cost assosicated with it. My only reason I believe is that, it is part of being an adventure. Isn't that what we all are anyways? :D

No.

Its a video game adventure not real life. i do not want to walk back and forth for 45 mins everyday in a game thats a stupid time sink. People need to understand that easy travel =/= easy game or better "adventure"

in the end no matter how you find the environment interesting and useful. On the long run it'll become boring. So yeah, traveling by foot can be fun once, twice, maybe thrice, but in the end faster means of transportation are needed.

Making sure that each city had equally good battlecraft leves would probably help quite a bit. When it comes to R40 leves Camp Broken Water is the clear winner. And given how long it takes to get from the mid-R30's to R50, I think I'm not the only one that would welcome having leves of equal quality available elsewhere in Eorzea.

Also, if there are ever any new guilds implemented, for the love of heaven, don't put them in Uldah. xD

Allow players to jump to either city directly using the Aethryte crystals with no cost in Anima (maybe a fee in gil), for example if you are in Ul'Dah and you touch the crystal there you have the option of going to Gridania or Limsa Lominsa. (maybe SE could add a sidequest to unlock this feature)

The main reason people don't use the other two cities is because they are a pain to get to and very time consuming to walk to, most people want to conserve anima also so teleporting between towns is out of the question much of the time.

My thoughts exactly. But I'm sure they're saving them to get people back when everyone loses faith in the game ;P

Soon as a new city becomes available the masses will flock to it within a weeks time. Its the FF traditoon, we pick the biggest, coolest and most centralized city and we make that main camp.

There will always be a main hub for people and it will generally be at the central and most easily designed city. The only way to get people to the other areas is to provide content that is specific to the other areas. People will also probably spread out more when/if they come out with a Jeuno-like city (Ishgard) due to it being made into the new main city.
