Remove the Platinum Rank safety net

Hello, I just wanted to put this out I'm not sure if anyone has ever made a post similar to this, but I feel like this needs to be done. It's been far too long where the same players are stuck in Platinum Rank and most of these players are either purposely disrupting gameplay by not wanting to play, or they refuse to interact with the teams they're in. I feel like this demoralizes players from playing and causes frustrations in players who actually queue up wanting to win as opposed to those who queue up and throw tantrums and use play dead at base and not want to play at all.

If there wasn't a safety net to keep the people who do this kind of behavior, they will drop into lower ranks which I feel is a adequate consequence for such behavior. Considering the fact that Platinum Rank is just 2 Ranks away from Crystal Rank which gives players their guaranteed PvP weapon for the season. I wish and hope Square Enix and other players who think alike will agree with this. I know some players will not agree with this and that's fine, we're all entitled to our own opinions. I hope this will keep the players who want to lose into lower ranks and the players who want to climb will continue to climb with others who want to win.

I agree the Plat rank needs to be moved down to at least Silver if not Bronze to create more buffer floors so that there's not such a crazy mingling of good/bad players at what is supposed to be the intermediate rank. It's an actual black hole tier where you can be a decent player who fell from high diamond or crystal and get grouped with people who really have no rights being in Platinum if it wasn't a safety floor.

Platinum safe boost indeed needs to be removed. This is the golden / black hole thing for everyone. Even if you are a good player, you can get stuck here for eternity because other people cannot derank and just sabotage your games. So many players do not deserve plat rank but are there because of the lucky streak that they got and went to diamond. Then fell down because their gameplay skills just aren't amazing. Then plat safety net is also perfect for trolls and people who /afk every game once they have found their target. It provides perfect ambush troll potential.

If this mode had much bigger playerbase, this wouldn't even be that much of an issue. But with current base of players and seeing 10-20 same faces every day, this becomes a really huge issue.

this just shouldn't be a thing. lt should have worked like feast where you can get the weapon skin or a fraction of the weapon skin in all ranks, but demotion happens at all ranks. l have no idea why this safety net is here. l see nothing but this being a bad design

I've been saying there should be demotions all the way to bronze since season 1.

If you allowed people to de-rank, it means that the ranks will always have life in it.
Right now, you get games if you're plat or crystal, with no safety you'd get games in every rank more often than not.

Just like this dog water community's fake positivity, Square Enix FFXIV Devs chose to give people false security and a false achievement. Along with false match making.

Until the priority of static number of your wins, current and highest ranked being the only things that matters is actually changed into something that considers your actual effort and commitment? No, absolutely not.

For better or worse, it keeps the high ranks active enough that they can exist. The system quite clearly has a very noticeable range about where it pulls players based off their ranks and class types, and doesn't change dynamically when it falls short, or if it does, it does so poorly.

I don't like current game state either but it's a band-aid to a fundamentally screwed up arrangement. It's not even the only messed up idea they have for what constitutes ranking people.

But this suggestion is in essence attacking the symptom, not the problem.

The system needed refining years ago, not even contesting that, just the idea that things need to be made more miserable now for basically what amounts to nothing but more slog for people who engage with PvP constantly. It's not fun to deal with constant tilted behavior. or feeling it even, which making the only good to get once ranks even longer is absolutely going to encourage as a matter of attrition. Because again, rank is static. You don't get anything meaningful out of anything below Diamond, other than maybe what other players give you in terms of socializing.

Give people a goal to commit to regardless of rank and isn't just achievements, then we can talk about removing said nets. Sorry to be a contrarian but I feel it needed to be stated.

This is the only way the mode is ever going to be healthy. Don't give people a safety net but reward them for their time. The reward for being legitimately good should be that you earn rewards at a faster rate, not that you're the only one who gets them and everyone who got stuck can pound sand.

Today I was watching some stream, and I keep seeing the same 20ishh people in gold rank... One of the smn, doing crazy damage, and winning a one sided match but all the sudden they are doing button damage(without a single death, no damage taken). I saw them just chilling all the way in the back waiting for the match to end.
This is like a vicious cycle, less player leads to easier to do win trading since there are only 20 players queing your chance of getting into the same game is very likly.

So it gose like:
reward lock behind diamond -> discouraging new players because reward is hard to get + encouraging win trader because of the lock reward(because they know they are getting it forsure)-> less players -> easier win trading -> even less players ->playing against the same win trader -> horrible one sided game experience -> discouraging new players -> less players ->>>

Everybody should be rewarded to their ability according to their ranks. Not just the top of the gratin.

While the platinum rank safety net doesn't make much sense and potentially just cause skill gaps in high diamond/low crystal matches, I don't think returning entirely to the feast ranking system is a good idea either. Unlike the feast, crystalline conflict does not allow a strong player to have as large of an impact, it's more reliant on your team to not be bad.

That said, if they want to keep a safety net, I think a safety net on gold is fair enough. It would still allow all the lower ranks to pop and players on the gold floor are unable to influence crystal matches, it's better for both sides than a platinum floor.
