What is so bad about OOBs

At the time of writing this, I still regularly see bots under the ground teleporting to quest objectives and engaging in obvious botting for unfair advantages.

Meanwhile, harmless areas that many players have used simply to explore, relax, take screenshots, continue to be removed. These spots never provided competitive advantages or disrupted gameplay. They were simply small tokens of appreciation for the game. People who don't love the game wouldn't care about them.

Lower Limsa was fixed in a previous patch, and now one of my favorite spots in New Gridania has been closed off as well. I understand the need to address exploits that affect game integrity, but it’s difficult for me to see the value in prioritizing the removal of benign exploration spaces, which seems to be a heightened focus this expansion. All while more disruptive issues remain visible.

These locations meant something to parts of the community. They were unofficial landmarks people enjoyed returning to. I hope the team might revisit these decisions and maybe reconsider how these kinds of areas are handled in the future, especially when they don’t impact gameplay in any way whatsoever.

First rule about Fight Club: You don't talk about Fight Club.

This game comes from the same studio that gave you a marshland with invisible walls protecting you from stepping over shallow puddles of water in Final Fantasy XVI. They don't know what exploration means.

Only time I've seen out of bounds places is during early on ARR one time the floor didn't load properly in Limsa and I fell under the city.

The servers have gotten good enough that it no longer happens.

If SE says its out of bounds then it's out of bounds. Sure you might have found an exploit in collision detection that allows you to access a spot you otherwise would not have been able to reach and were never intended to reach, but the fact is, it's not meant to be and it's entirelly up to SE if they decide to remove it or just ignore it, and there is nothing that you can do about it. Accept that and move on.

(Really the only out of bounds area I knew about was quickly removed back in the Alpha and Beta tests, I won't mention what it was however. There was also an exploit in Gold Saucer that allowed players to get to the top of Mount Corel when it's GATE wasn't running by pushing against a certain spot on the bottom ledge, but SE recently fixed that. Other than that, I have no idea about out of bound areas, so to the average player, this arguement is moot anyway.)

This is what it boils down too. The problem with good OOB screenshot/gpose places is that you can easily find a guide on how to get there and how to do it. That's easily reported or screenshots gets seen by the right people looking at the certain hashtags and gets fixed.

I remember, that it was possible to get out of bounds in dravanian hinterlands and walk on water and to get into alexanders sphere, dunno if they ever fixed that

They never did, and also the Default Coordinates for the map (which is under the ground) contains a small room that you could go inside using the OOB trick. But instead of fixing the water cascade OOB, they put 1 small rock inside the room to keep people from getting in during 5.3, then during Endwalker around 6.1 they added a second much bigger rock all around it so people wouldn't go inside. btw, in Gridania you can still do a Wrong Warp glitch to get in any place you want

Also this will never be the case, since Stormblood they're making sure that anything that is "out of map" in cities does not have a solid texture/ground which means you cannot really OOB in many places. Maybe get on roofs or higher grounds and that's it (?)

As a counter argument - when they added ARR flying, they made a lot of previously OOB areas of the maps viewable and accessible. You can land all over the top of the fort in Mor Dhona. You can get to a secret fishing pier in Middle La Nocsea. Tons of flat surfaces that were previously completely inaccessible turned into landing places.

They still don't want you crawling in the sewers of the cities with the bots because the underside of the maps are full of clips and artifacts from virtual world rendering in the graphics engine.

Wasn't the method of getting there patched in 7.4?

The only bug like this I regret they corrected is the one that made possible to go on mount corel outside of the GATE. Why was that a problem.
