Ideas for new character customization options!

Since we have news that more options will be added, thought maybe it would be a good time to reinforce discussion about ideas around the topic.

For me personally, I think a lot needs to be added. Imo, limited body sliders/body type and face sculpting options should be available. We don't want for monstrosities to be created like other games allow, but it would be nice to have more control over our character's physicality regardless of race.

As far as facial features etc, I would really, really love to see half elezen ears for Hyur since they are canon to lore. Please SE!

Somethign else would be cool. Vieras could have the option to have their ears wiggel mroe then just movement. Let us see how each ear reacts when im combat. Maybe let us all use beards or some 5o'clock shadow. TO quote a sonic song "Endless possabilities"

A few options I'd like:

* Skin textures - I want an option to choose different skin textures, mainly I want to be able to remove my blushed cheeks as a lalafell. You could also add stuff like freckles, tribal tattoos and so on.

* Hair options - I'd like to see the hair models split up into front and back, so I can choose different bangs to use with the back hair. Also, allow us to have sliders to make the hair longer in some cases so I can make the front of my hair longer if I like.

* Unified options between races, and more face options - Add all the beards(and more full beards), scars, and other facial features to every race and face as an option. I'd like to be able to have scars on my Lalafell's face, and I know a lot of highlanders want the option to have
eyebrows as well. Also allow Au Ra to be able to choose whichever horn/face combo they like, and possibly add more ear shapes to Miqo'te similar to how Viera can choose them. Also add things like muscle sliders to every race, because why not? I know a lot of people would want to add muscles to their miqos and auras.

* Animation/Emote options - highly requested already, but I really want to be able to use different animation sets on my character. All the lalafell animations are goofy and silly and it would be nice to be able to have my character take himself more seriously so he feels like a real character in the world. It may homogenize the races a little more, but I think it's pretty silly in the first place that your mannerisms are tied to your race and gender, it makes the characters less believable and more like templates. This would probably take a lot of work to do since they would need to retarget and alter the animations between body shapes to look correct, but I think it would increase the enjoyment of the game a bit for most people.

Besides the obvious stuff like more faces, eyes, eyebrows etc and separating Au Ra horns from their faces, I'd like:

- An option to mirror hairstyles
- Hairstyle variant toggles which alter certain aspects of a particular hairstyle (e.g. removing the braid from 'Styled for Hire', changing a hairband's colour or an alternate highlight pattern)
- Animation customization (idle, weapon, movement and emote animations from other races - bonus points if they can be mixed and matched more granularly)
- An option to make your character left-handed, which would just mirror your holster positions and weapon animations
- Increase the max height for female Au Ra by like 10%

Coul give the crafting/gathering jobs different poses. Could have fishermen holding a tacklebox in the offhan with their fishing pole on their shoulder. Instea of each one just using GLA/PLD idle animation. Could give each job a more better idle pose like GLA has teh base then into PL coul give them a more regal pose like. Shield up sword aimed at their opponent, WAR coul even lean into teh more animal side once getting inner release. LEt us pick the base idle or use the spectral berserker for WAR, DRK could be given a more better sprint: Have then drag the swor on teh ground (like GNB) and sparks fly frmo teh sword grinding against the ground. GNB would be more menacingly if they had the gaius pose

I'm hoping for the male hrothgar to have the option to stand up straight. The hunchback doesn't really fit for the race. And maybe adding more scars or burn wounds on the body would be also a good pick for customization.

Separate Au'Ra Horns from the face option. Thanks.

I would love to be able to choose some cute little Elezen ears and be like Hilda! ever since I saw her I wanted to be able to make one similar.


I also want better shape and more makeup and face options and better hair options removing fringe to some of the styles would be nice.

Freckles separate from face paint. Or maybe two layers of facepaint?

Bring back a lot of the features lost with the graphic update as options.

Take all the tattoos (and body paints) that exist as part of armors, add them as options on the character.

Not just Viera but Miqo'te and Hrothgar as well.
The initial emotes in the game are way superior in how they use the racial features like the ears standing up. The other ones completely ignore that and are basically Hyur.
They can and should put more work into that because the bones are actually there and not hard to use either.

I personally don't need too many sliders and if they are there they should be limited to an extent because I can do without the abominations that are some mods out there.
Hair, skin and eye color wheel for better options, more faces to choose from and an actual update to the base body because it's still kinda low res compared to the faces and the fluffy Miqo'te tail is actually just a cross shape with hairs on it if you look closely.

Truth be told though I only need one simple button.

Also, all the options like butt sliders won't help if the gear ignores it like it does with bust size so often.

I mean they shouldn't be extreme or anything, but I don't see how adding subtle sliders to say, make the arms limbs slightly more muscular, is a bad thing. Nor do I see a problem with a butt slider (or butt size selection) as long as it's kept within realistic limits.

subtle facial sliders for the eyes/lips/nose could also be used to make people's characters look more like they used to prior to Dawntrail as well.

That said I could live without them, but they would be nice to have imo.

It's things like separating Au Ra Horns from faces and variety in skin texture/some sort of skin makeup that I think they definitely should do, so that you could say, put freckles on your body. Plus it would enable the WOL to have an archon tattoo in case they choose to put it on if there's a quest in the future where the WOL becomes an archon. I might be getting ahead of myself there, though.

My absolute top on the wishlist would be facial sliders and new face presets. Something like what Gw2 has, where I could edit the shape, size, rotation, debt and distance of each feature to make my character more unique and enjoyable to me, without making the character creation too complicated or allowing people to create the aforementioned "monstrosities".

Body sliders would be next on the list, though I can survive without them, if I could have them, I would want them. Though I'm actually kinda surprised that body sliders seem to be more a more wished upon compared to face sliders or face options when looking at the different discussions, not that they wouldn't be nice to have (though I will riot if we get body sliders before face sliders.)

My last would be adjusting and selecting animations. Despite the popular opinion, I love the hyur princess run and would love to have it on my other characters but the Auras walking animation looks better so I would give that to my hyur. I also love lot of the Viera animations and would love to use them on my hyur along with highlander dance animation. So yea overall, allowing us to pick and choose different animations for different emotes for our characters would be superb.

I’d love to be able to choose my emote animations. I’d never give up my Seeker slit pupils and cat ears, but I would like to have some different animations for emotes such as /joy.

Sims 3 like sliders . And unrestricted hair (race specific hairs) Thats what i want :)

Things I'd like to see...

-Body sliders/selection, basic stuff that this game has been missing for way too long, let me add/remove girth from my characters please.

-More/better skin options, especially for the rest of the body not just the face, freckles, scars, flush etc.

-More aged and rugged faces, especially for fem characters (why is this option gender locked! just let me play as an old woman!)

-More/better beard options, I'm still baffled about them adding a whole new head to masc midlander that is an exact copy of another head just to add stubble to it.

-Decoupling au'ra horns from the faces, this is an old ask and also a no-brainer addition, I'm sure plenty out there pick a face while longingly looking at another's horns and vice versa.

-Decoupling Hrothgar hair highlights from their fur patterns, either a half separation (separate toggles but shared color) or a full separation (toggle and color is not shared at all) and honestly...

-More race/clan specific toggles and options! examples being things like not having the xaela's dark sclera and raen's blue tongue be gender locked (add toggles to both genders) as well as fang toggle for miqo'te (why would seekers not have fangs??? why does keepers have fangs???)

I'm sure there is more but these are the first things i can think of, I do like the sound of letting hyur have access to Hilda's pointed ears, half race options would be interesting to see.

My head canon for certain gear ignoring the bust size is: The female use some strong as can be binding or tape to cover their chest before they put the gear on
