Do Something SE

The fact NA has had this many server failures is inexcusable. DDOS, poor server architecture, terrible ISP. I don't care. And I think a lot of us are of the same mind.

Do something. Unless you want more people going over to WoW. They can actually keep their client running.

Really. Not very fun when you are in the middle of something.

We either have a major problem with someone attacking the game that cannot be answered, or the game may well have to be taken down for an extended period of time at some point for new server architecture.

It's probably one or the other.

Im okay with it being taken down for new server architecture. Maybe it needs to be taken to JP forums for this to be taken seriously, idek at this point. Been happening for more than 2 expanasions with very few grace periods.

I was just in a frontline where a mass dc happened. Adders seemed to surive in enough numbers but Maelstrom and Flames went down. I was able to get back in before final people logged from match to see score. When DC happened teams were like 500-600-700 respectively give or take. So not even, but not a blowout. When i returned it was 550-750ish (i think) and 1400 Adders. Like, sure possible they just ran away with it, but more likely they just had the more favorable numbers post mass dc. So...that's fun.

I got cut off today right when I was finishing that new seasonal quest where I had to serve all those annoying kids cocoa and then stand there while they emoted because SE decided not to make that part of their really uninteresting, poorly written, low effort seasonal quests skippable for some reason. Then when I got back on had to do it all over again from the beginning. I think that was the worst 90k yet lol

I can not think of a situation where a person would be justified in (or be able to justify) DDOSing a game for multiple straight years across several expansions, it is 100% server infrastructure issues and I'm willing to put money on that.

Unfortunately because of how SE seems to be structured, what with as little input as possible going into their cash cow game that funds every other dead on arrival game to come out of the publisher, I wouldn't expect any significant change until people stop paying for XIV.

Which will NEVER HAPPEN because people who play this game have NO SELF CONTROL or SENSE OF WORTH

Very true.

The ddos's have been happening for going on two months now. I already sent in a ticket to support demanding a refund of my subscription and time compensation for their issues. They said it was a <me> issue and couldn't help me with it. Still a ticket has to mean something especially if it's a complaint. I hope SE takes note of it and to everyone else I say unsubscribe and vote with your wallet. These devs only see us as meal tickets. We don't matter and these devs especially yoshi p can go shove it.

Stop assuming such an attack (if it is one) is by a reasonable party, or the goal is the permanent termination of service.

Maybe they finally got one of the RMT farms, and now they're trying to end it all for the rest of us.

I just sent a support ticket and they told me it was a problem with mu security settings and ISP. They also told me to get lost because I have an EU account but ahh all Australian accounts are classed as EU accounts because OCE isn't a real region apparently.

If you are aussie, then, it is my understanding from other friends that are as well, your consumer protections are greater than those we have in the US and even Canada. Meaning, you might actually have more leverage to put on SE than we do. (I don't know how it all works I just know your government is much stricter with access to product/assuring you get the quality paid for than uhh here.) And yes, having your accounts classified as EU is also beyond painful. I'm not saying you should go out of your way to waste time on any of this, but you do have more tools than we do.

It does, truely suck though. However, materia is at least stable as I've been on and off of it...EU too (the aussie friends have me playing all sorts of places) NA is on fire most times i try to do things on it lately.

Normally I would agree, but we're also talking about XIV, this game seemingly attracts unhinged people.
We've heard about stalkers going after people for years. So I wouldn't entirely rule out that someone with a psychotic fixation that the game or someone in the game has "wronged" them to keep DDoS attacks going for just as long, it's not exactly difficult to do.

Strangely enough, I had two games as well yesterday where a mass DC happened (Primal) and each time it was always the Adders that ended up winning by the time I got back in.

I'm sure its just coincidence, but its still amusing that when the game was determining who got to return to the game first (and got to scoop up nodes uncontested I assume), it was always the Adders in my case.

EU keeps winning

NTT is a horrible provider but they will never part with them because they are Japanese owned.
When this happens during savage I can see it causing most of the hard-core players to quit. The game in NA will die.

Hate it break it to you, but the "hardcore" players in this game are a minute % of the playerbase. They could leave and the game would still keep right on going.

Honestly I thought people were exaggerating when they talked about how bad this entire issue was. I just started playing again after a year and a half break, and it's kind of unbelievable that they haven't bothered to do anything about this.

Whether or not it's DDoS or just the servers sucking, it's way past time for them to figure something out. Much as I've been enjoying playing again, it's kinda hard to justify paying for a game that doesn't care enough to fix its server issues, or try and fight against the DDoSing. Whichever one it is, this is embarrassing, frankly.

Changing server infrastructure will not stop a DDOS.

DDOS is killing me....sloooooooooowly.

It has gotten to the point where I am terrified to craft anything. I am one of the major crafters for my FC (players and retainers) and I craft endgame gear for immediate family members as well (papa will you make me tank set and healer set). My eyes are glued to the screen waiting for the tell-tale sign of "suddenly everyone stops moving mobflash style" or my macro is suddenly erroring out.....

So....many.....mats.....lost. I am running roulettes to gain more tomestones as the Market prices are insane. Again - - watching for the moment in the Duty when I suddenly have an endless supply of heatblaster that does no damage and the party is in a "simon says FREEZE" moment.

I got to do the First 2 bosses in Mistwake TWICE before I could get all the way to the final boss.

It's like playing the game I love whilst stabbing myself in the eye with a pencil at the same time.

ON TOP OF ALL THAT.........players in queue 1,301.

It's not like this should surprise SE at all. "Okay team. The expansion is ready we deploy tomorrow! Great job all. this should roll without a hitch. The players will love all the new content. What could possibly go wrong? Tegakari Ganai-san you fixed that coffer thing in OC right? Okay everyone take the next week off - - I can't think of anything from previous patches that should be a problem do any of you?."

I don't trust this game's community to hold the devs accountable for anything but its the only way they'll do anything about it. SE is incredibly self conscious about their reputation so I think it would do a lot to make them look like shit to the masses.

Second time today. Get popped off into a que of hundreds so obviously its not on our end. Fix this mess.

It bothers me even more that they refuse to acknowledge how bad this problem is. Whether they can fix it or not, there should be more transparency. At this point, I think they're trying to lose players.

I am getting the feeling, with the lack of any communication, that the Devs are not going to do anything until 8.0 as a part of their datacenter down time maintenance. Hopefully they will announce the cloud servers to permanently deal with this.

Or... this is a weird way of kicking people offline without having an AFK timer...

SE is a failing company and can't even make good JRPGs anymore (Atlus does it better at this point). This isn't disinterest. It's incompetence. They're literally incapable of solving this issue.

They would not be able to make something like Expedition 33 even if they poured 200M into it. There's a massive productivity lag at SE because of incompetent leadership and brain drain.

Regardless of whether this is a DDOS attack or not.

If I pay for a service, I expect to get that service. If unable to provide that service, I expect compensation. It's as simple as that.

They kicked half of the players in Frontlines while I was playing, so I doubt it.

I litterally cannot play for a full hour without getting disconnected with 90k6 error.

This is RIDICULOUS, we pay a monthly sub for this damn game!

Any other live service game would offer compensation for service disruption. We deserve game time for this. A daily occurrence is unacceptable. The benefit of the doubt is lost, this needs fixed. It's insane this just keeps happening.

GIVE US GAME TIME AND FIX YOUR SERVERS SE!

Either give us game time back to compensate us for this or give us some kind of item. Anything to at least show that ya care. That doesn't seem too unreasonable.

Solo deep dungeon runs are impossible now because of this bs.

Yup, there's pretty much no point. Why make any effort if you suspect that the server is gonna just go down mid raid and ruin the whole thing. Same with deep dungeons or anything beyond just the daily roulettes. And the fact that they are radio silent on this whole issue is only serving to further tick people off.

SE support told me in regards to the ddos.
"Greetings,

The issue you are describing is most associated with interference with the game data. It can be a result from certain security/privacy changes on Microsoft Edge. Other times, it occurs when an application running in the background causes interference, such as anti-virus software, firewalls, media players, web browsers, communications software, etc."

Yes because all of NA needs to fix their security settings.

If it truly is ddos then I guarantee you it will magically stop just in time for the world first race, for the same reason that it magically never affects the JP datacenters.
