I do not understand the Lancer trait you can purchase with guildmarks "Pikemanship" and what it does.
Description is "increases your affinity with lancer-based actions by 10, up to a maximum of 100.

BuMp. Bumpity.
It makes it so if you are using lancer abilities on another job, they are 10% (roughly) more effective than they would be without it. Since they aren't as good when used on different jobs, this helps them a little bit.
thank you very much.
Tera got it :)
So it doesn't effect Lancer at all? Only Lancer abilities when on a different class?
As far as i can tell no, the "Mastery traits" do not increase the potency when you have it equipped on that class and you are using native skills.
there simply there to help cut in to the hit cross classed skills take to effectiveness and recast time.
Your main job's affinity for its own actions is 100. Therefore, pikemanship does nothing for a lancer.
Affinity affects potency of attacks, accuracy of debilitations, duration of enhancers, and/or length of cooldown time depending on the type of action.
I would love an official response on this, as I to wonder if there is some sort of hidden effect applied to Lancer, though since I dont have a lot of traits I keep this one on anyways just in case.
Also isn't it the higher your lancer rank the more polearm affinity that is applied to other classes with this trait equipped?
Both of those would be placebo effects in action. Your ex-lancer's rank does not effect how well lancer abilities work on other jobs.
MiNuN I like your sig :D
Peregrin is correct, read his posts.
From what I've noticed, it tends to affect duration and recast times. For example, if you were a lnc, and wanted to use quickstride, it would only last about 20 seconds with a recast of 3:30, add bowmanship, and it lasts for around 25 seconds and recasts in 3:20.
